  1. sounds brill to me, echo carl's comment on the electric keyboard which does dislocate it somewhat from the era in which the original was recorded, but great, and love the trumpet work in particular... 10/10 gold star
  2. Sincere condolences from us also.
  3. Anyone able to offer any meaningful estimate of the going rate for a copy of Cindy Scott - I've got news on Mirasound acetate. I believe it is one of 4 known copies.... etc. etc.... I imagine I'll end up auctioning it but any sensible opinions welcomed....
  4. sold mine a couple of months ago, sorry I used to play it all the time at these old shoes and beyond, I think it's had a bit of a renaissance during the last few years..... so does get played out.....
  5. I played at Subway Soul in NY circa 2001 I think - it was brilliant fun (helped by the fact that the whole trip was just fantastic thanks to Jessica and Greg and various others ) - as already mentioned in other responses, most of the people down seemed very much into having a good time with little in the way of 'scene hang ups', as mentioned, it was all very friendly and very enthusiastic.... would absolutely love to do it again if the chance ever arose...
  6. John Andrews- It's just love
  7. cheers, Chalky, yes indeed, tis still there and working perfectly well - just needs people to use it. I'm happy to give soul sourcers 100% free use of the site forever - just have to let me know and I will set it accordingly for them. Otherwise it is set up to charge a small closing fee only, but no fees for placing the listings up there unless you choose to put it as a featured home page listing etc. (To clarify, soul sourcers can have 100% free use though, including home page featured etc. - just drop me a pm) martin
  8. not that I'm aware of Mace (AFAIK only the one 20th cent 45 - I need to fall in love, also on this LP). Glad you liked it, I had played it to some R&B loving types round our house and they'd given it the thumbs up but you never know if people are just being polite Not big on LP's though myself I must admit, or rather they're too big on me....
  9. orchard beach shingaling Pt2 - king nando - swinger Safari - willie bobo - tico Mamas girl - king nando - swinger (album track)
  10. A few of latin tracks perfect for a nice sunny day, I know there was a thread recently and I can't find it to tack these on
  11. As discussed a few weeks back (if I can suss the upload system!)
  12. wasn't this those laser players that can apparently play through warps, scratches, jelly babies etc. ?
  13. absolutely agree mate, brilliant. Total bargain
  14. my favorite stranglers album, brilliant
  15. yes I believe it is DJ only and otherwise unlreleased. I found a few copies a while back, one went to Martin and a couple of others to some other DJs. Still have one spare, cracking record IMO
  16. been playing the Sisters Three on and off for about 10 years, love it.
  17. yes it is but I just can't play this side over the sublime 'way over there' - one of my all time favorite records of all time. Alright?
  18. great record, very messy but in an exciting kind of way, reminds me of thee midnighters - love special delivery (which is even messier )
  19. looks legit to me
  20. absolutely shocking, very sorry to hear about it Nick and hope you are able to get it resolved and quickly. Martin
  21. do you have a sound clip of the Brothers and Sisters or the Ray Bryant versions Jim (or anyone else)? The melody is right under my skin, I must have listened to the Cannonball version 50 times yesterday afternoon
  22. that's brilliant Pete, I love it, where does it appear? 45? LP? I've been looking out for a copy of Roland Alphonso for some time without success but this would fill the void for sure Quick edit - found the 1964 Capitol LP and ordered it - but I'd be interested to know if there's a 45 - I saw a reference to what might be a JA pressing of it but would be grateful if you could confirm or sell me one
  23. Diane Newby - What you're putting me through (Kapp) also play the Saints and the Sweethearts from time to time, so many favorites from those Kent LP's myself
  24. I think it's nice in a poppy Verdelle Smith kinda way, would be a fiver well spent, but £200-350, er, not so sure......
  25. we saw it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was dreadful. Shame as it started off really promising, the first 25 mins or so were great but soon it descended into dreary schmaltz with some shockingly bad songs. A real missed opportunity IMO. We actually turned it off after the second 'musical style' ballad came on, it was too painful.
