The Worst Record Ever?
PMSL that is so absolutely stunningly terrible that I almost quite like it - vocal reminds of benecio del torro's character in the usual suspects 'yarrr, he'll flip ya'

Got: Ella Thomas and the Doletts - Thing called love (GD&L) - brill (IMO) femme gritty hammond backed soul dancer - soundclip on JM's site (where it is listed for £350) - Mint See link to Ella on JM's site The Utmost - Whole lotta loving/Instrumental (Lemco) - same song as the Explosive Dynamiks but a more garagey (as in 60's guitar garage) version - though the huge rumbling instrumental version on the flip is superb IMO - Mint Will add some more when I think..... Wanted: Harvey Averne - Never learned to dance Bobby Valentin - use it before you lose it Timothy Wilson - Hey girl, do you love me (veep) or any other nice 60's northern 45s or good latin

Value Please
I paid about £80 for a near mint issue about a year back. I reckon £100 is actually a more accurate price, but that's the great thing about record prices - they're never set and if you end up putting stuff on ebay, sometimes you get less, and sometimes you get more than you originally asked

Value Please
I think it's a combination of what you want and what you can get for them, with the guide price alerting you to do a little research if your intended starting figure seems way 'off' the guide price As you will see, prices often start at a certain level on the forums and are adjusted downwards where necessary.

Whats The Price
I've seen a lot more demos for sale over the years than issues myself and doubt you'd get an issue for £200 but good luck. One of my all time favorites of all time.

Gary Dean Auction Last Night
blimey, I saw it with a few hours to go and it was only $133 or something and I was half temped to put a speculative snipe on it just because it looked to be so cheap!.... In the end I decided not to, just as well I've already got a copy

Jimmy Hanna & The Dynamics - Leavin' Here - Seafair Bolo Recs
by sheer coincidence I was talking (via email) to geoffg about this earlier as he's pretty sure this is the version that used to be played on the early 60's mod scene (as opposed to the Eddie Holland's 1963 original or the UK Bird's versions) - it's from 1965 and a label listing is here : https://j_withers.tripod.com/seafair.htm The above says it's a NW label - not sure what NW refers too but I'm sure someone else will... Value wise, I would guess at about £15-25 - great version IMO, though it's such a brilliant song I love all three versions mentioned above.... Martin

Track Id If You Please
you haven't said whether it was a 'dancer' of not (I'd guess it might be if a GP tip) but just in case it might be a slowie could it be the Impressions - say you love me (curtom) ? Curtis mayfield at his brilliant best IMO.

Promoters, Whats Going On ?
hear hear. The other old chestnut is "why should only rich people be able to DJ etc" well the fact is that MOST people who have built up a DJ box of originals - be they £10 or £500 records (because I appreciate that a £10 record is not a trivial spend for many people) have done so over a long time by wheeling, dealing, sacrificing, searching and generally working bloody hard to get wherever they are with their boxes. There are plenty of people, (too many in fact ) with proper DJ boxes full of proper records ready to entertain you..... there's simply no excuse for bootlegs IMO. Martin

Me Gusta Latin Soul
for me my faves out of those not mentioned are Johnny Zamot - you dig (decca) - also Johnny's boogaloo (also on Decca) King nando - orchard beach shingaling part 2 (swinger) dead cool mid-tempo latin croon about heading off from your harlem base to the beach on a summers day, radio in hand (I posted this up a long with a few others a while back - see /index.p...94&hl=nando - think the player is currently offline though) TSU Toronados - play the music toronados - one of my all time favorite happy summer records of all time and has a lovely latin flavour

I Know It's Sacrilege But I Prefer The 'b' Side

What Would You Do In These Circumstances?
sorry to hear about your problems Macca but I thought I'd throw this tale in as an example of some GOOD people you meet on ebay. I recently sold some records on ebay and I managed to send two to the wrong people through sheer stupidity on my part. One cost £50 and the other over £200. The guy expecting the £200+ contacted me understandably upset at getting a totally different record and, I suspect, he thought I might be trying to pull a fast one. I was then bricking it in case the other buyer, who was in Europe, might simply decide to ignore my emails etc. as I hadn't dealt with him before and had no idea whether or not he would just keep the record which would have left me £200+ down with little practical recourse. Fortunately for me, both buyers were 100% honest, helpful and understanding. I paid them both the postage money to send the records on to the other buyer, both did so and the matter is now settled and they are both now very happy with their purchases. I can't help thinkig it could have so easily gone very wrong (and I'll be super careful in future!) but it did restore my faith in humanity, or at least the soul scene section of it
