  3. It was a Casino record, but not played solely there. No idea of current value but somewhere in my distant memories I seem to remember it was used in a film. Anyone confirm?
  4. Just watched my recording of this and what a pile of steaming poo. This program used racism to sensationalize what never existed. Is it because of the times we live in that racism is such an emotive topic, and was it used purely for that effect? Just reminds me of the same inaccuracies that were politically motivated by England Our England. 30 years on and how little changes.
  5. So by your definition anybody who ignores a responsibilty to honour an obligation is a 'right person'. Intresting view point and not one I agree with.
  6. Agree to a certain extent but as the last person left standing will you turn off the lights as you leave?
  7. And your definition of 'right people' is ..........?
  8. IMO not much too worry about. In no particular order:- Politics - always been a part of the scene (in fact anything you care to mention). I believe this can be ignored. Too many venues. Possibly correct but if there wasn't the demand / numbers then there wouldn't be so many promotions. Quality sounds - they will always be discovered. Again my opinion but as the scene is now so diverse and covers so many genres new records will always be avaialble. My only concern is that the rare soul scene is ageing. The number of young ( and I mean 20 yo +) people I see in my travels is negligible. All the venues I've been too have an average age of 45+. Common sense says this is not sustainable. Without the young blood it is inevitable that the scene will shrink and eventually die. Good topic and I enjoyed Silk! Best Tabs
  9. A genius who didn't truly get the recognition he deserved in his lifetime. I would like to think he's being appreciated now as he gives the angels a few lessons in how to cut a tune. Thanks for the memories RIP

  18. MJB defo a UK recording service. Used in the early 60's by what later became Monty Pythons Flying Circus. https://www.dailyllama.com/spam/audio/jones.html Cheers Tabs
  19. Hi Paul, If it was I'd be asking for a refund! Thanks for your kind wishes. Mick
  20. Hi everyone and thanks for all the kind wishes. A scary and painful 5 days but basically I'm OK. I'm feeling very tired and weak but as long as I'm sensible for the next 3 weeks there shouldn't be any long term problems. It wasn't a heart attack but a viral infection which went straight at the heart. The effects are the same though, i.e you think you are dying! Won't bore you with the details but I've never had so much pain and I'm not a whinger usually! The good news is I've stopped smoking and never going back. This was not smoking related but I've had a warning. I'll cast my vote in the smoking thread a a bit later! Anyway all being well I'll be at the RSG Westcott on the 29Th, so hope to see some of you there. Eddies my chauffer, so thanks for that. Already spoken to Garv so thanks my friend. Maverick, a top girl, hope to meet you someday. Ganache - I'll have to check for stubble another day Baz, I'll be on the PC a lot as I recuperate so ask if you have any techy questions. Again Thanks for all the best wishes. Cheers Tabs (Mick)
  21. I've been following this thread for some time, but really enough is enough. I'd have had ABSOLUTELY no involement from any national media. 1) TOTP - Wigans Chosen Few - The name is offensive enough without listening / watching the garbage. Who The F*** chose them . It certainly wasn't me or anyone I spoke to at the time. Just how insulting a name is that without any reference to the original acts involved? 2) The Sunday Times article is condescending beyond belief. Another orchestrated attempt to mass market and pigeon hole British youth in the 70's. 3) England Our England - A distorted, politically biased view from the 70's that in reality had no relevance to the scene. Did anyone really care if you were employed in a steel works or had a "profession"? The friends I made judged me as me, not on a media stereotype. I accept some ' trippers' remained on the scene but is is it really coincidental that the media intrest resulted in a dumbing down. (name your own sh*te recod here). The absence of any media involvement would have resulted today in a more cohesive scene. This is of course IMHO. Mick Macca The widespread abuse of barbiturates at one point back in the late 70's. I saw some shocking scenes on that front. Agreed.
  22. Not as easy as it sounds but Male = Jackie Wilson Female = Barbara Lynn
  23. Heard exactly the same comment and cover version at about 9.00 pm At which point I went to my village local. I support CIN but do these comperes realise what they are saying? Such a shame that the original artists are once again ignored. (Despite the criticism still hope CIN make mega bucks)
  24. Just ask him / her if you can collect the record and pay cash. The answer will tell you all you need to know.!
  25. Superb LP. Every track a winner .
