  1. Hi Cat, I'm in agreement with you on this. People who profess there love of the music, preach about respecting the artists, you must play OVO etc then turn round and say they don't like live acts. Where does that mindset come from? Just bizarre imo. Anyway my choice would be Jerry Butler and / or the Dramatics. Cheers [quote I m not particularly surprised about that, but it is sad isnt it? I dont think this scene is about the live artist as much as it is about the pretty labels on the record!(Has it ever been?) If it was a live act scene, everyone would of been at Stoke to see the Dells or at Northampton to hear the Impressions, and those guys at Crewe would have made a killing with Maxine Brown etc etc. I saw Sam Dees on all of his nights a few years ago, how many were at Yarmouth or Newbury that went just to see him? I d love to see Gladys Knight singing anything ,but think I might need to go to the States to hear her.
  2. Another artist that has left us. A horrible weekend for the soul scene. Condolences to her family and friends. RIP
  3. PM sent.
  4. No worries Steve. I'll PM you in a bit. Cheers Tabs
  5. Another legend lost to us. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP
  6. But surely thats the point - it was sad, embarrasing, inaccurate. Made more so by real people we know who should have known better.
  7. Agreed
  8. Really don't believe its about being positive or negative, just accuracy. This show didn't have it.
  9. 1969 from my fading memory
  10. No, the media always get it wrong. What I was objecting too was the distortion of the facts, again.
  11. Just a travesty imo. Another example of how the scene is viewed by the media.
  12. Thought it was just Duffy's dancers.
  13. Linda Jones - Just can't live my life
  14. Agreed Mel. I've got a few signed records and they aint going anywhere. Memories are priceless.
  15. Think it might be getting a bit of a revival. Heard it played out a few times in recent weeks at various venues. Cracking tune and deffo falls in the category worthy of reactivation.
  16. Ordered mine as wel,l but from Ticketfactory Hopefully a ray of sunshine as the last 2 years in June have been shite
  17. You had another knock on the head Pete.
  18. Pot and kettle, and I quote "She's red [ Indian ] , or native American to be precise .Cheers ,Eddie "
  19. I'm not. Just figured that people would realise I meant the Orch. Same reason I just put Dusty. Thought people would realise it's Springfield and not Bin
  20. OK but the Biddu Orch were white
  21. Peggy March Dusty Righteous Bros Band Biddu Charlie Rich Mitch Ryder
  22. Awesome performance at the Casino even though he was 'ill' and didn't realize it. Still remember vividly that it wasn't that busy when he came on stage as lots of people weren't into live acts. Really strange as 30 odd years on I still love seeing live acts. Just the memory of him back dropping to his classics still brings up the goosebumps. A TRUE legend. Still feel privileged to have seen a consummate artist, taken from us before his time, on one of his last live performances.
  23. Always enjoyed TOTS and the venue. But ultimately it will be there loss. I'm sure you will find somewhere equally as good, if not better. Best wishes Tabs
  24. Steve Whittle, Kenny Spence and Stuart Backenridge (spelling?) Forgot Derek Gallagher
