A sad loss & my condolenses to his family & close friends. Did not know him that well & first met him when i shared a caravan with him & others at Fleetwood i think it was (when Frank Wilson was on i believe) Instantly recognisable, only ever saw him 2/3 times after that (including a charity shop in Huntingdon that he happened to be working in!!!) Sent him a birthday greeting on Facebook last week for some reason (don't usually bother even with people i know well so that's kind of spooky) Rest in peace old bean Pete

i saw him at The Rainbow, Finsbury Park sometime in the early 70's. The place was only half full & i seem to remember everyone had to move to the front!!! The band strolled on (guitar bass & drums only) & i thought at first they were the roadies. Jackie came on & was able to do all his moves, smoke & sing looking the epitome of cool. All in all an awsemome performance - don't know how it compares to his shows in the 60's though. Pete

I have a publication called 'Directory Of Soul LP's that I purchase fron Jean Lacomme in July 2000. Not sure if it is still available - if you want the address (or at least what it was in 2000) pm me. Also have another French publication called 'The Black Female LP's Catalogue & Price Guide' that has a publishing date of 1987. Pete

He also wrote 'He's A Rebel' by the Crystals. Reminded of this by a Chanel 4 programme called 3 minute wonder (7.55 to 8.00) that was aired only 1/2 hour ago. Pete
