Im still waiting to see who ASKED for this new night to be put on .....not saying its true but i do think sometimes that all this goes back to when a certain local dj was resident at pilsley then they got rid of him,things aint been the same since.im most probably wrong but with these people piss & pot always spring to mind and they all follow each other around like little lost sheep As for bestwood,as said thats going through the mill now. Been goin 6-7 years and steve who runs it set it up 5 times a year so it dont clash.Im sure he will be glad to see that he is being paid back with the same kindness

WELL SAID! Also it is up to other local promoters not to dj at these places,think there is a fat chance of that,as di said earlier there is too much of the old you dj at my do and vice versa so dont know what the answer is there.

Totally with you on that.Notice that not many have come on here to defend themselves. "broad spectrum of soul music" they would have a clue what you are on about there mate Bestwood has always taken stick from the Baggies Brigade dont know why because its down to the guest dj to get the floor going.Its an open box at bestwood,you can play whatever you want and most djs that go there do,WHY because they too are sick of the same old stuff but that just seems to alienate people,which goes back to having a broad spectrum of soul music. Im in a way grateful to some of these events because ive saved a shed load of cash from stopping in

saying that MAK have been asked a few times but always said no.This was 3-4 years ago and even back then i thought there were too many events

Just seen it and night nurse is still guest dj,who said not so long ago that he was as much in the dark as everyone else. I will put money on this as well,there will be a few local djs who get invites to go and do a spot and shall i tell you how many will say no...none,why? because its not going to ruin their night. What i like about these local events is when you read on lookbacks on here, people say how friendly people are and how great they are how welcome they make you feel,they forget to mention the knife they going to throw at you the moment you leave

I went because its not the same old borin stuff,lots of "oldies" were played there and will be again in september but NOT skiing in the snow,soul time,time and the odd dodgy boots, This do is not needed,its wanted by a few who seem to want to rule the notts soul scene and not let anybody else in to run something half decent. I said this before,i feel sorry for some of the notts promoters because they have some great tunes which they cant,wont or are scared to play becasue of the current situation,they dont want to alienate people.its sad You say you like oldies,you only like what you know and like the rest of the folk you hang around with if you dont know it you just dont want to know unless it comes from the top.what i mean by that is that one of the "big name" djs is playing it,then you want one

hey up Barry,if people want the same old thats ok but it dont mean they have to open a new event every 5 minutes to hear it.i cant and never will see what they get out of it.As for playing "northern" i play it,lots of it in fact, but some folks just dont seem to get it or its got to be played by certain people before they do. Just glad that this scene isnt the only thing ive got in my life, No Bestwood for me this time Di & me are off on our holidays

dont worry i do,stopped going to most if not all events now,just fed up with it. I did go out saturday and i was told that i only go to soul dos that may offer something different or that i only go to the ones that i dj at.i think they were knocking at the fact that of recent times ive only been to bestwood and i went to the brit.to that i said too bloddy right,why should i go out week in week out listening to the same old crap and wasting my hard earned cash. i wish 90% of the dos would close down and let people with a bit of passion for the music get on with.As said there are a few well established events are feeling it now because of these idiots keep wanting to pretend they are at wigan GROW UP AND GET A LIFE!

Hey up Spot you old devil,been said before but yeah have to say the midlands is well over run with events and another same old same night (thats what it will be) is not called for. the last count was 29 in a month its a joke.

Maybe the people involved should come on and say what they mean by something different.As for asking for another event i think a handful should give up the ghost and nob off IMO of course

Hey up Sharon,i remember reading that and thinking god no not another one ..No offence to anyone but it aint going to offer nothing different what so ever.All it would do is make less people at other events.A total waste of time

Top bloke as said,the shop is brill. just be careful of the odd avalanche of records that many occur.Only caters for slimmer people these days.Its a tardis but the opposite way round

Great tune,also his "from out of nowhere" Its one of them tunes that on ebay go for not that much..seen it on lists at £100-£150.not saying thats what its worth just seen it at them prices

must have been later then but i do know he use to play it there can remember dancing to it,where did all his tunes go by the way,i know where some went,he had some nice tunes

Was going to say what happened to Dereks copy Chalky,i know it was a regular spin for him about 97-98 at Awsworth in notts.I thought MIck H had his copy..maybe not
