  1. played "crying" in the jim wray lounge at the raynescourt yarmouth back in the day and at various sunday sessions since, a great tune sadly neglected as its not a dancer.
  2. had a Bellmans Yard membership card thrust into my hand at the last one in Newport so they do, but not needed one for a long time, 70,s and 80,s they were everywhere.
  3. we have had a name of stephen clarke given us with no contact details as having booked into the Berkley ( our old venue) for the upcoming may date, if anyone knows him we need to let him know of the changes, thanks.
  4. Hi all, i am trying to locate Stephen Clarke who came to the Soulful Sessions at the Berkley nr Worcester, Feb 10th this year, think he was with a group from leyland / bedfordshire. if anyone knows him or he sees this please can he contact either myself rob hurcomb or steve Lloyd here or on facebook. thank you all.
  5. i have a near mint issue copy and that is vinyl, not sure i want to part with it tho, the make it last side is a wonderful version of the stylistics.
  6. thanks for posting, interesting stuff
  7. sad to hear, scant mention of her recorded output, world without sunshine was my introduction to the lady early 70,s, although you succeeded and wish i had known became my go to tunes, later acquiring her too many people lp on canyon records where see teamed up with swamp dog/jerry williams for a deep soul album with ghost of myself being a personal favorite from it, she went on to star on broadway, another talent gone. RIP.
  8. there are a few rooms at venue £60 b&b if anyone needs to stay over, contact venue.
  9. for interest , i have a copy on potugese stateside but it is a different take completely to the standard hit version, not sure when released tho, kept it cause its different.
  10. it was on her not gonna happen twice lp motorcity if you need it on vinyl, or just play it off the cd
  11. a record that has always been on the fringes from way back, never played out much tho, first brought to my attention mid 70,s by polo from worcester
  12. they were definately going in the 70,s, i can remember them from nottingham palais alldayers.
  13. hi happyfeet, no there is no number with the stamp, over the years i just assumed that it came from someone that had something to do with the club, cant remember a record stall as such, just record boxes although memory a little hazy, Swoz has penned his name on the record too, he came from wolverhampton so i may have bought it from him, i just kept it as a keepsake of those times. rob h
  14. i went to the catacombs a few times, heady days indeed, i always assumed people knew of the importance of the club in the history of our music, probably because im from the midlands tho, i have a freddie chavez they,ll never know why boot with the catacombs stamp on, never let it go purely cos of that, i cant recall if i bought it at the club or not, i also still have my catacombs membership card tucked away with all my other membership cards from those times, it surly was an atmospheric place to go and the write up does it justice, i can remember the fire escape stairs as we used to pile out onto it to cool down before hitting the dancefloor again, remember breakaway and saxie russell were the big records with our crowd that spring to mind, twas a long time ago tho but a number of friendships made there, basil, dave krinski and dave allan to name a few, glad to say i,m still in touch with some. rob h
