  1. no, what I said was the only thing in the deadwax.
  2. i had it for $35 and had a bunch of requests for it. So about 20 quid. I wanted to sit on it because I think it will go up due to the sweet side.
  3. thanks everyone. you rarely get to hear the "real" side of the fred johnson. I don't like most of the real thing cuts but I really like "stone cold love affair" and that one. I do actually play a lot of random UK records though. I really like the Realistics, especially their first 45 on WB UK
  4. I didn't say it was a 60s label, I said it looks like the inter/soul label which is a 70s label. This is the inter/soul label: https://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=2250703
  5. my copy doesn't. it just has handwritten "GOINS G111-A" and B in the deadwax
  6. FYI, it was booted to sell to doowop collectors, who like the throwback sound on the record.
  7. it looks just like the "inter/soul" label pressings, and might even be related given the "intro" in the label name. That's all I was basing my post on, if someone has more info I would love to be corrected or even just know more about it.
  8. gotta run, will post a pic and ask charlie your question later
  9. I pulled out my copy and it seems like a definite original, it's a white label promo with a bunch of label wear, writing on it, etc., that I found in some junk in Chicago. I'm disturbed by no stamp or anything official looking in the deadwax. The deadwax has handwritten U-1390 the ah la la side and U-1391 on the other side. In smaller letters on both sides handwritten is "BRS". There may have been red wax originals since that was a thing with doowop labels. I think you need info from the kreiter guide at this point, do you know someone with a copy or should I ask someone?
  10. the article posted was written by charlie horner btw, an incredibly thorough and honest researcher who puts a lot of his time and own money into his love of doowop.
  11. given that the pic you just posted is exactly the same angle as the ebay pic but slightly larger than you can get the ebay pic to be, I assume it's your ebay BIN. if you're gonna bump a thread and add nothing except a sales pitch (which you probably shouldn't do in the first place), at least say it's you.
  12. there are more releases on the label than just those two. all colored vinyl copies are bootlegs done by a vegas dealer in the late 90s / early 2000s. there are no original copies on colored vinyl, just black vinyl. the original record (despite sounding early 60s) is actually from 1970, according to the producer and a group member. The producer also produced the len and the pas 45 on rush.
  13. there was one on my list and it went in like 2 seconds
  14. when they play steve miller "fly like an eagle" on the dusties station, it actually sounds good, like the context totally changes the sound.
  15. the point of customs charges aren't to pay for the postal system, it's just placing a tariff on mail from other countries to encourage people to buy locally. the us doesn't have customs charges, yet regular taxes as well as postal fees, etc. pay for the postal system.
  16. are wylie / hestor more important than holland / dozier / holland in making "northern" sounds?
  17. Hi. Last Sunday (8/19/2012) I did more of a "deep soul"Â focused radio show than normal, closing the show off with some 80s cuts (including one from 1989, probably the latest 45 I've played on my show so far). You can listen to the show at https://www.sittinginthepark.com/8-19-2012.mp3?'>https://www.sittinginthepark.com/8-19-2012.mp3? . 18. don't be shy, krissie
  19. records from other cities hit locally in different cities if they fit the local sound better than their hometown sound. Gucci Crew II fit into the whole Miami Bass thing. A couple records that are not from Chicago that hit almost only in Chicago -- Sly Slick and Wicked "Sho Nuff" and We the people "Making my daydream real". They had a sound that appealed to Chicagoans.
  20. i think people missed it in this thread but my friend also found that justifiers ad. anyone want to sell me the 45?
  21. not only can you not go to jail (in the US), it's not clear whether it's even illegal and if it was it's not clear how they could penalize you. US Sellers don't realize a) the lack of risk in them putting a low value and b) the amount of customs other people have to pay as well as how many customers they are losing by not falsifying customs. They think they're being careful but they really are eliminating overseas customers.
  22. I think a bunch of DJ's copies of this came out from michigan rock collectors who were willing to break up their 3-record label run for the price of the northern market.
  23. thanks for the detailed info
  24. no but the doug and dave is definitely a new orleans leased in thing. also the tempos on USA is from louisiana and originally came out on a local label.
  25. it wasn't that hard for me to get the doug and dave, i've seen it a few times. it's one of the leased in new orleans productions, like the edward st ann. what's weird is that the knights on usa are possibly the same atlanta group as the knights on tragar (which is an instrumental record). The tragar record has World publishing on it (which is USA's publishing).
