  1. yeah, although cut in the soul era, that tony clarke has 50s R&B throwback sound. Is that really in any way comparable to Hamilton Movement? Why not post the tony clarke in a house music thread? the previous copy that was up had to be Jason Yoder's copy (from Indiana45s.com) he found some of his old Indiana stock and while most of it was cheap stuff there was at least one hamilton movement. I don't understand how the Hamilton Movement has like 7 45s and this is the only good one in my opinion. I heard that the lead is Melvin Brown, who also sang lead in the Moovin' Soothin' Stone Funk Band. Most of their records are nice. But he doesn't sound Womack-ish on those so maybe he's not the lead on this cut?
  2. this is one of the most thorough bios i have read, nice job
  3. the "somebody loves you" side is awesome. of course i am not using northern soul as my rating criteria though.
  4. It's an unreleased Stone Lady cut, based on the deadwax and the david sheffield record I also got at the same time. You bid me up on it and the seller offered it to me after they said there was no response from you. Thanks I guess. Deadwax is SL 11 and SL 12. I don't know what 9/10 would have been either but it probably would have been the last stone lady release.
  5. Hi. As usual I apologize for the delay in putting my radio shows online. I have two new music shows online from the past two weeks. On September 2nd, I had special guest collector Elaine Wade play selections -- you can listen to her show at https://www.sittinginthepark.com/9-2-2012.mp3? Unfortunately I have misplaced the playlist she took the time to write out for me (which is strange since it's hard to lose anything in my clutter-free apartment). I'm sure she'll send it to me which I can forward to you if you request it (or I can include it in a future email). Last Sunday I did my own music show; I played some funkier tracks than I usually play (there still were lots of nice ballads). You can listen to that show at https://www.sittinginthepark.com/9-9-2012.mp3? You can listen to other music shows and all of my interviews at my main page www.sittinginthepark.com. Playlist follows at the bottom of the page and thanks again for your continued interest. Also, if you know someone who wants to be added to my radio show announcements list, they can sign themselves up at: https://eepurl.com/n7Qr5 I hope you enjoy the shows! 9/9/2012 Burning Desire - You must do your best - Charisma The 21st - I can't forget your name - Joy Billy Anthony - Right on - Tank ? - ? - Unmarked Keel test pressing Benny Latimore - I'll be good to you - Dade Soul Emotions - that's the kind of man - Soul Emotions and Company Edwards Generation - I need you only - Tight [i meant to play the other side but the labels are reversed...] Esquires - Everybody's laughing - Bunky Brothers of Soul - Try it babe - Shock Rayfield reid and the Magnificents - Treat you right - Ken-Tone 4th Generation - Walking on a cloud - Debroussard Del Capris - Our love (it ain't the same no more) - Silver Dollar Brother Scott and Co - Our love is growing - BSC Cloudburst - Next time - SMS Beige - Give her up - Loretta Coast to Coast - Paula Marie - Multi-Sound Cermakk and Doug Shorts - Love's gone wrong - Cherries Bonnie Pointer - I wanna make it (in your world) - Motown Something Unique - This feeling - Sheridan House
  6. google makes it look like she did spoken word on a roy ayers album in 1998
  7. i'll trade the rare one to trade if you have a cool group record...
  8. Sebastian comes through with the knowledge. The french CD must have booted it off the goldmine CD.
  9. sure. but ending up on a "northern soul" bootleg from france, it must have some physical history that someone knows, as they didn't get the track from a master tape probably.
  10. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Northern-Soul-Lou-Ragland-Travel-Alone-AMY-/251148086983?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item3a7997aec7&ssPageName=RSS:B:SHOP:US:101
  11. actually I remember it was really cheap on manship's site for a long time after I played it, like 20 (or maybe 40) pounds.
  12. FINALLY I'm getting my props. Actually, although I do play a lot of unknown stuff I bought blind, the Archie Williams was known to funk collectors, etc. before I played it. There is a rare and weird pressing of it with a small hole that plays at 33rpm (still 7") and has a pic sleeve.
  13. I asked a big french girl group collector and he didn't know it.
  14. I don't know what else to say except I'm really really sorry about you and your wife's health; I hope you recover quickly and I greatly appreciate you taking the time to take these photos (awesome) despite everything you're dealing with. Thank you.
  15. I think what happened relates to stale data / caching. ebay changed the category ID, but some stale data might have been tagged with the old category ID (for example).
  16. clearly nobody who has posted so far in the thread has a copy. it's not in the manship guide or the tim brown guide. googling makes it look like the sort of track that was unreleased and on a CD. However, it does show up on a french CD but that CD looks like bootlegs so unless it's bootlegged off of another CD it does exist in some form. It's not in popsike or collectors frenzy. Can someone who is on spectropop ask there and repost here? That seems like the only hope unless someone here who hasn't posted yet knows.
  17. I think that's the result of sweet soul collectors going crazy
  18. it's not, it's a 70s modern thing
  19. yeah benji i also saw the 45 last night in your sale list when i checked.
  20. here is what the united pressing ones look like just for reference:
  21. united record pressing does them, they started a couple years ago: https://www.urpressing.com/7inch.php unfortunately, there have been some quality control issues with stuff coming out of their plant recently
  22. ok this is the info. apparently the soul city are related to or possibly the same group as the royal robins on tru-glo-town: my friend messaged George Payton but didn't get a response edit: go to the video and look at the comments
  23. Actually I think someone gave me some info recently, I have to check my emails.
  24. ebay is a complicated distributed system with lots of redundancy, etc. It always was true that when you initially did a listing, the auction might show up by itself but not show up under items for sale by seller. It always eventually fixed itself. Has to be the result of some cached data getting stale and only later updated.
  25. whoa, i heard this same story with this same record happened to a US DJ, he said it got run over by a fedex truck. crazy if two copies of cheating kind got ruined by postal mishandling.
