  1. 108 is the bronzettes on double soul
  2. also, if you post your label listing I might be able to fill in holes by thinking of what artists you're missing
  3. 102 isn't one of the hard titles of the label (I thought) it's the release of a track that got picked up by shout: Boo-Ga-Loo 102 - Jerryo - Karate-boo-ga-loo / The pearl here is the full set of releases of the McCline from soul harmony singles: MCCLINE, CHARLES (Chicago, IL) Both issues of “You Conquered Me” were also released crediting Willie Logan & The Plaids. (below as Charles (Plookie) McCline) Larry-O 101 You Conquered Me / She Got Another Man (nvg)** (below as Plookie McCline) Jerry-O 101 Uncle Willy (mxg) / The Gorilla Walk (mxg) (11/63) (below as Charles McCline) 101 You Conquered Me / Say That You Care (64) you have 112 (green grunchions all-stars), right? Willie Logan was in the Satagans, I have a Satagans pic that he's in. I have footage of Jerry-O without Tom doing "Boo-ga-loo", I think it's from swinging time? I'm moving this thread to look at your box because it's record-related. Thanks for posting a new topic...
  4. that is a long list
  5. I have a photo of the RCA cavaliers somewhere. They were from Detroit. The constellations were originally from Chicago, then went to New York (which is where the gemini star recordings were done), then became dionne warwick's backing group and released two singles on her Sonday label. super talented showmen, supposedly. members on gemini star were Frankie Floyd, Zach Sanders, Bobby Earl Williams. Floyd and Williams had solo 45s on IX Chains, Sanders later sang in the Writers on Columbia.
  6. this has been happening at least since I joined the site in 2006
  7. Thanks, I fixed it. Now I have to resend my email which is embarrassing. Thanks for pointing it out.
  8. thank you, i was very confused. sorry.
  9. Hi, here is my latest Sitting in the Park music show. I did a set of early 60s R&B followed by some midtempo female soul, female sweet soul, and male group sweet soul. You can listen to the show at: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/10-21-2012.mp3? You can listen to other shows and interviews with Chicago groups by going to my main page www.sittinginthepark.com. Also, if someone you know wants to subscribe to this email list, they can add themselves at the following URL: https://eepurl.com/n7Qr5 If you know someone who would be interested in the show, I would appreciate it if you told them about it and forwarded the sign up link. Also, I like to keep the artists in the pic a mystery so people can guess (you can always ask if you want to know) but I wanted to point out that this picture is of Jan Bradley. Playlist follows and thanks for your interest. 10. Hi, thanks for posting. Moved to all about the soul as it's a more relevant forum. Audio / video source is for posting audio / video clips / mixes / etc. You'll probably get more answers here too. Thanks.
  11. yeah, it was just on ebay. I don't think this is the chicago ernie king who is on mercury.
  12. do you mean bell records?
  13. it was descending into you making up information. i gave you a bunch of other versions. you're welcome.
  14. As I said in my first post, the Four Gents on HBR/Liberty are from Flint, MI. The Four Gents on Encore are from Detroit, MI. The Four Gents on Nite Owl are from LA. These are all places that are far from Philadelphia. These are also all three separate groups with no connection. Many different groups in different places or even in the same city had the same name. In general, assuming different records by groups with the same name are the same group is not a good assumption unless you have more evidence -- label connections, common names, common publishing, etc. Moreover, even if the Delfonics did come out of a group called the Four Gents I'm pretty sure that they did not record. That is a pretty generic group name, probably dozens of groups called themselves that (there is even a Four Gents doowop group from Chicago who recorded in the 50s). I just looked at the Wikipedia page (which in itself is also not often a reliable source) and it is very clear that they did not record anything as the Four Gents. It says "Formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1965 and originally known as the Four Gents" Earlier it says "Their first recording, "He Don't Really Love You", was for Moon Shot in 1966." So the wikipedia page actually disagrees with you.
  15. i'm pretty sure will luck is also keeping a 45 discography of the label too if you ask him
  16. kind of strange though
  17. thought this thread would be about clarence carter and chairmen of the board
  18. It doesn't even sound like it could be from '79, it has digital synth. It could have been recorded in '79 and the synth track changed later.
  19. I know there's a gwen owens on encore, I meant those are the only four gents on encore
  20. no group that recorded as the four gents had any connection to the delfonics. especially no group from michigan. this is the lineup of the Flint, MI group: Frank Randall, Sherwood Pea, George Early, Ronald Cooley The Encore group is from Detroit and is not related. There are only those 2 Encore 45s. I don't know anything about the Encore group to know if they contained members of other Detroit groups. There is also an LA group called the Four Gents that released a record on the Nite Owl label.
  21. I figured out the answer to my question -- around april '67 was the columbia release. still wondering about a discography though. also, does anyone know the title to the flip of the Curtis King on Ronze "You took the best of me"? Thanks in advance.
  22. I swear there used to be a columbia 45 discography online, either at soulfulkindamusic.net or at globaldogproductions . Globaldogproductions has a non-US columbia 45 discography now. Am I confused or did they get taken down? Either way, can anyone date this 45: Curtis King - So nice while it lasted - Columbia 4-44096 JZSP 118302? thanks in advance.
  23. there is no connection between the four gents on HBR/Liberty, who were from flint, MI (and whose full membership is known and who is also a different group than the four gents on Encore) and the Peps. There are many other versions of this song. The rarest might be an LA version by a group called the Fabulous Four on Dalo. There's also a version by the Bar-kays, Notations on Twinight, and other groups. I'm sure there's some Jamaican versions, at least there is a version by the Blues Busters. I'm guessing at least one san antonio group and one rock group do it too.
  24. you know you would have posted them anyways .
  25. and apparently it isn't worth $2000 to get a clear photo
