  1. why? anyways, I don't think you could get into the head of whoever was cutting or extending a sax break and for what reason. The deadwax might give clues though.
  2. you can do the same thing with the sniper. you can watch the auction and let the sniper do the work. although i guess waking up at all sorts of odd hours is taking to the next level and potentially more exciting.
  3. actually it's like gambling, and watching the final seconds tick away to see what happens. honestly. bidding early is only fun if you like losing money and auctions.
  4. not sniping takes the fun out of bidding, it's like watching two slow fat people running a race and thinking they're going to win while getting lapped by the real players
  5. #1
  6. This is the rarest of the three Relatives [Texas] 45s. The other two (on lewis and hosanna) are already very rare but this one never comes up for sale. These sides were recently reissued on the Heavy Light LP compiling the Relatives material. This is a nice copy, VG+, a few very light surface marks on each side, plays perfect. UK grade would probably be EX. A-side is DJable funky soul (not currently known by but would fit into rare soul scene DJ scene imo), B-side is a very unique and excellent MLK tribute record. Here are full 256kbs stereo recordings of both sides of the actual 45 for sale: https://www.divshare....ad/20949983-899 Here are scans of both sides: Paypal only. Offers over $500. Best way to contact me is to email me at sitpsales@gmail.com. Thanks for looking.
  7. what is in the deadwax of the rouser record? what is in the deadwax of the fairmount record?
  8. Also, they don't up your bid, they bid at the last second. If you are willing to pay more, you should bid more and not have to increase your bid.
  9. It is called "sniping" (although I hope "gazumping" catches on). Nobody should ever not snipe unless you like to lose or pay more than you should. There are several services out there, there is now a free one: gixen.com
  10. I'm totally lost now. Is someone saying that a FAIRMOUNT test press is the rouser version? Because that would be evidence for the rouser version being first.
  11. no it's a white Jewish dude. Black Hebrews have a huge history in Chicago though, including music. Without going into details a later 60s group went to Dimona Israel and recorded a bunch of albums and singles there that were comped by the Numero Group, it's an excellent CD. In college I used to go to their Soul Vegetarian restaurant on 75th street twice a week. Now lots of white people go there and they don't wear dashikis anymore at their restaurant. I've been to the one in DC next to howard university, much more low key. They also have a restaurant in Israel.
  12. I don't know if this channel has the rights to some of the material as dick clark was never letting any out. anyways, amazing to see this and some of the other soul acts on the channel
  13. I don't want to start an argument like there was before, but can someone re-explain the evidence proving it was a second issue? not trying to start anything, I just don't remember and want to know. Thanks a lot.
  14. Lee Fields is huge, I've seen honey dove syncs on almost all the fox sunday animated shows.
  15. also, the ballad flip of that ringleaders thing is not actually the ringleaders. i don't know who it is though, but it was probably also something unreleased.
  16. I am not confused by your post, I was confused by the response to it, and was agreeing with you and clarifying why.
  17. I am confused by this exchange (parts of each post edited out). Anyways, a bootleg is something pressed without being properly licensed, not a second press of a first press. A second press is not a bootleg if it's not licensed.
  18. nobody is pointing out that the ebay auction is not for a M- copy. Either way, I think 300 pounds is the going rate.
  19. it's a press of an acetate-only thing. i think it was pressed in the early 90s by one of the vegas dealers -- at least they were the ones with stock of it. so technically you bought an "original" since it was never originally pressed.
  20. There are many very rare records on chess and checker and making it more confusing is that there are records in the discography that don't exist, but some that people aren't sure if they exist or are very rare because they are so rare.
  21. he bought a storage locker and there was a desk. inside one of the drawers were three copies of "jackie baby" wrapped in a piece of cloth
  22. I know who this is, long time thrift store / junk store dealer, he had the three copies of the magnetics that were sold (actually two different people independently found 3 copies which was weird). anyways, I don't have his number but you should request it via ebay and call.
  23. sorry i wasn't clear, i was responding to "the count" thread. i know les sells stuff and what his deal is. he has a new id every year.
  24. he says he has 100,000 45s, but he's going to die with all of them because he'll never sell more than a dozen in the next 10 years for his desired price.
  25. sellers can't say negative things in positive feedback. it's against ebay policy (really). the buyer can get the feedback removed AND the seller will get in trouble.
