  1. anyone know the rouser deadwax?
  2. this is as of 1968: Pecle Music Publishing 1834 West Girard Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19130 now it's an apartment building.
  3. Soulfinger is right, there isn't a "mcghee" in the band. Not that it would be relevant anyways but more discussion about the Groundhogs (who I like actually) is now even totally irrelevant, will move to freebasing if it becomes a topic. Thanks.
  4. By the way, carolinasoul.org has aware listed as a charlotte label. if it were just a charlotte group on a detroit label he would have listed it under "north carolina artists on non-NC labels". I think that answers your question?
  5. Are you just asking whether the aware label was owned by a detroit owner? Or whether it was pressed in Detroit?
  6. mixed race group from milwaukee
  7. but you're saying the same thing I'm saying, you're quoting the same article I linked, which is the original article where he says he has "yet to hear it". I was asking if there was some more specific story where someone fed him the info or if it was a cover up or something. Either way, I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist, thanks for your help.
  8. ok, I was just clarifying because you were referring to "the lyrics" as if there were one record when there are four. If you are talking about and like this particular record, that's cool.
  9. Carl Dixon, who is on here, has attempted this -- recording in the US with real session musicians playing real instruments. You should try to contact him. Search for his name, he has posted about his productions.
  10. the track is "stirrin' up some soul". This is currently in soul harmony singles and I want to erase it because I'm 99% sure it's some BS. It looks like a rumor that has just passed through the ages and someone probably fed Ian some wrong information. Here is the article: https://www.geocities.ws/unraggiodisoul2001/raresoul.html I'm actually going to erase it (the article also says the label is detroit, which it obviously isn't), but it would be good to get confirmation as to what the track or rumor actually was. Or maybe if there was some other unlisted track or something that should be listed. I'm guessing it was someone's cover up or something.
  11. there's one other soul 45 by lanie allen, it has no group though. the other lyrics 45s are all duo 45s, one of them has a nice sweet side.
  12. That is one way to possibly accept lower prices than an asking price but it is different than setting a reserve and telling people what it is and allowing bidding. Allowing bidding allows the psychology of the auction to come into play where people can fight it out. There is a different psychology entirely in the "make offers". For example, if a seller has a high BIN with offers, I probably would think they were unreasonable and not bother where if they had a high reserve that was stated I might put in a bid just because I might think I could get it for a price I want. You also only have 3 chances to make an offer. They are slightly different in how a buyer would approach the listing with possibly different effects.
  13. that's not the "good" lyrics though, they have 4 on JWJ. The best one is "thoughts of a summer's day". not that it matter because it was recorded in detroit, but the Fiats are from New York. They are almost the same (White) group as the lost souls on glascoe. Info here: https://www.venturemusicgroup.com/pmp/chs.htm
  14. Does anyone know the story behind the supposed "Detroit soul masters" on the Jacklyn label? I'm pretty sure it is a fake record / doesn't exist ... it looks like misinformation someone fed to Ian Levine that was printed in a 1975 article and that was then repeated / spread. Does anyone have any more details? Maybe it was someone's cover up? Thanks.
  15. Hi, moving to "Look at your box" which is more ebay / record focused. I think there is a point in listing the reserve, it's telling people to go ahead and bid even if it's under the reserve and you might consider it. Honestly, that's a positive as lots of people just don't bid on reserve auctions because they think it's some unreasonable amount and they generally are a bad idea. Or for certain delusional sellers, listing the insane reserve tells you to not even try.
  16. yes, I should have better qualified my statement as pure hearsay. that said, there is absolutely no doubt that he loved $100,000 pyramid.
  17. I "heard" it in that my friend who publishes a rock magazine told me. I have no reliable source, not that I even tried to look for it. My friend told me that's why he's not releasing any footage. Could be totally false. Either way, he clearly LOVES $100,000 pyramid.
  18. for the record, if you're trying to keep the price up, bidding early is actually the best way to go. if you're trying to get another copy cheap and keep the best one and sell the other, sniping is the way to go...
  19. I don't know about racism (I just don't know much about dick clark) but I heard he hated american bandstand and when you watch $100,000 pyramid, it really looks like his true calling. Like he's really really really into it.
  20. thanks for revealing more of the story!
  21. D'or 101 Ray Lewis - Too sweet to be lonely / Sitting at home with my baby 102 Internationals - Give A Damn / Push Button Love 105 Internationals - Too Sweet To Be Lonely / Beautiful Philosophy D'oro 1002 Vivian Copeland - Chaos (In My Heart) / Cushion The Blow (5/69) 1003/4 Vivian Copeland - He Knows My Key / So Nice I Had To Kiss You Twice (7/69) 1006/7 Vivian Copeland - I Don't Care / Oh No Not My Baby 3500 Vivian Copeland - He Knows My Key / So Nice I Had To Kiss You Twice (10/69) 888 George Jackson - Tender Love / Rufus, Come And Get Your Dog I don't think the billy washington or little mason is the same label. Not sure about the george jackson above (I haven't seen it) but it geographically makes sense at least.
  22. sorry i didn't see a border which i thought would be the frame. thanks.
  23. nice. you should try to frame it, it will look better under glass (and you can get uv protection).
  24. please explain how sniping vs. bidding manually leads to this. Thank you!
  25. I assume the plates are different, that's why I'm asking for the deadwax info for clues. Thanks.
