  1. I'm an idiot, in soul harmony singles we have a listing for a benton harbor record on "the new sound of revere music" and then have the exact same record under the canada (Toronto) group under "new music". I think the Toronto group listing came from some canada webpage, the same one people googled to uncover the cover-up. On the positive side for me, I have the "right on" record so all I need now is the Op-art record. One less record to collect...
  2. yeah 5020 is the only number collectors have seen as far as i know. 5031 is the "rarer" number but I don't think it exists.
  3. I don't know if they anticipated the split up or not (I can ask). I'm guessing they didn't and that they'll put more info on the label in the future. Some of the records were not really published and they published them -- if you see "Dust Index" on the label, it's a reissue.
  4. I'm trying to finish something, if I don't respond in two days please pm me. thanks.
  5. John, can you actually post links to things like this? I saw you modified your post but having to google the motown alumni association to look for a link really isn't different to having to google the text you copied and pasted. I don't understand the difficulty in posting links when you're posting tons of copied and pasted text. Thanks.
  6. In gemini listings there is always a listing of a repress of the exits "under the street lamp" on gemini 1012 and a repress of "I don't want to hear it" on 1014. I have seen neither of these numbers, and I have seen lots of label variations of the 1004 Exits press (e.g. white label, yellow label, green label, green label with later pittsburgh distribution, etc.). Can anyone post a scan of either 1012 or 1014? Thanks in advance.
  7. what is in the deadwax of your copy? I can pull out my original and tell you if it matches.
  8. I bought the Pat Hervey 45 on ebay (kind of weak in my opinion) and the (Canadian) seller said the Tiaras were backing. I asked how he knew and he said he was working with them on some project or something.
  9. I've heard those are really good
  10. different group, that group is the LA group that also recorded on Dore. There also is an unrelated group that recorded two records on Valiant, and a detroit group produced by Dale Warren called the Tiares on Leona.
  11. John: given the personal nature of this information, could you please link to the source when you post something like this? You should probably do it with other webpages of info instead of just straight copying the text in many different posts. But something like this is a sensitive issue and I think it's even more important that people verify the source in this case. Thanks.
  12. Because I live in Chicago, have a very large chicago collection, know most of the Chicago records I don't have (although there always are new ones I'm finding about, mostly from the 80s though), have looked through other large chicago collections of other collectors, have talked to members of the Lintons, and actively look for and discover records I don't know daily. It could be a typo that made its way into his system. Does it have the same catalog number? If so, definitely a typo. if not, maybe worth investigating. There is another very rare record on essica by the sharpees that nobody knows about so there is a possible connection. There's always stuff popping up that nobody knew existed before, so I can't say 100%, but I can say 99%
  13. The internet is 100% true in Canada. The New Sound 45 is a Benton Harbor, MI record. It's about twice as far from Detroit to Toronto. I guess it's possible with more evidence than "a canadian website". The Op Art group do have another single on the New Music label.
  14. 3 versions of "whatever's your sign you got to be mine" (bobby franklin, the hustlers, prophecy). Prophecy's followup "betcha can't guess my sign".
  15. I've talked to Larry Cunningham, super nice dude
  16. I think I'm getting confused where he was talking about the CODs. Either way, he said he had a white label of it.
  17. I can get you Larry's phone number if you want.
  18. I mentioned the bernie hayes above. Sorry I have not had time to respond with more info in more detail. I know Larry Blasingaine. He was also in the band for the Chicago SoulTrip USA (although none of the participants probably knew it... one of the marlynns was on drums and Bernard Reed was on Bass).
  19. lots of instances like that. two people with money want something, both bidding high, and something going for stupid money. I'm seen $50 records go for $750+ before. I know that seller, btw, he is a conservative grader.
  20. i would send you a recording of the cosmos 45 but it was mastered off my 45 so i don't think you would want it. the original doesn't really sound different to me.
  21. if it were the other soul walkers i'd buy it as an upgrade right away. both 45s always show up trashed.
  22. Very sad. I interviewed Sam on the radio in 2008. He was a super nice guy.
  23. I actually always thought this and was confused and then listened again recently and decided he's singing about a girl with that name
  24. Ady Pierce told me that he had a white label promo copy. The first time I was at Lucky's house Anderson called while I was there which was funny. Apparently he was the first person to get him to sell 45s and got crazy stuff from his basement (which is lined with shelves). Now that place is so picked that you won't find a record that will be worth money in five years, let alone a record that is valuable now. Either way Lucky is a super nice guy.
