  1. I was wrong about the date, I found "She'll come running back" in copyright. It's copywritten Nov 6th 1969. It might have actually come out at the beginning of 1970, but it's just around '69-'70. What's weirder is that it's marked as "cancelled". The record must have been released before he joined the visitors but after the versatiles.
  2. No, but people in Chicago and Detroit have always thought their records were worth money or it was hard to find stuff anyways. People have been plastering Detroit with record flyers on signposts and telephone poles for many years and have more recently doing flyers and direct mail in Chicago. When I was in DC around 2000, it was so easy to get records compared to Chicago. I swear I had records in my hand and people would drive up to me in the street asking me if I wanted their records and bring some to me. I made a few phone calls to thrift stores in the phone book and before the end of the day I was in a huge apartment with all rooms filled with 45s.
  3. I actually have a record collection I can look at.
  4. yes, I have 5020, would like to see 5031 for confirmation. Thanks for posting though.
  5. I'm surprised by Dave's response in that thread (saying the group was from detroit). I think they were an italian exploito euro disco group who had previous releases on 20th century. I thought I saw common names on the lindee / gamma release. I have to check again.
  6. everybody in DC read that post article and decided their records were worth a million dollars afterwards
  7. please do not confuse the Chicago marvello group with the Ohio airtown group
  8. pretty much recorded with exactly the same personnel as "lucky fellow"
  9. whatever, people on here make up all kinds of BS, and I met with the FIP / FIPI label owner at an applebees at 95th and western. the waitress was a total bitch and didn't get us water for like an hour and then yelled at us. I was really mad but trying to ignore it since we were interacting with the label owner. Then my friend who I was with felt really bad afterwards and we had to walk outside for a while. he went to the hospital the next day and it turned out his appendix burst. but he didn't die because it formed like a sac that contained all the crap. they inserted some sort of tube into it and it was draining pus for like 4 weeks.
  10. I'm not making this up
  11. actually it says "FIPI" on the label publishing and FIP on the label once, unless you count the weird logo as saying FIP. Either way, the label owner called his label "Fippie"
  12. no, like a 70s male deep voiced ballad. i'll think of it eventually. thanks for the suggestion.
  13. no the dude wasn't named fipi. He did refer to his label, vocally, as "Fippi". I see it says "festival international productions" on it and "FIP" at the bottom but the publishing is FIPI. I don't know what the extra I stands for.
  14. I have also interviewed one of the Visitors, it's online at my website if you want to listen to it.
  15. I've talked to the Fipi (yes, it's actually Fipi and not Fip) label owner and I don't think he started the label until the early 70s. I will find the track in copyright later today to confirm.
  16. I have talked to Mel
  17. My final sweet soul set sale list of 2012 is going out at 2pm CST today. I have a lot of nice rare 45s on the list and some good less rare ones. If you want to receive it and are not already on the list, sign up for the list at the following URL before 2pm CST. https://eepurl.com/lP-S9 Last time I had problems with stuff getting caught in people's spam filters. It would help a lot if you add SITPSales@gmail.com to your contacts if you want to be guaranteed to receive it. Here are instructions for adding a contact to different mail clients: https://www.firemailing.com/whitelist.html If you are supposed to get the list and don't get it, please check your spam folder and mark the message as "not spam". Also, if you sign up after 2pm CST you won't get it but you can email me and i can manually send it to you. If you don't want to receive it but have received a previous list, you can unsubscribe using a link at the bottom of the previous email. Thanks a lot.
  18. also I think she'll come running back is early 70s, not '69, but I can verify later.
  19. The Visitors had 4 records. Mel was not a member on the Dakar 45s; he is on their Dispo record and sings lead on the record they released as the Mist on Twinight. He was previously a member of the Versatiles on Staff
  20. yeah, it has nothing to do with communicating on an internet message board. Maybe if yakity sax was playing in the background I would get it.
  21. I didn't miss it, I was just explaining how after thinking about it probably is more meaningful to Andy in five pieces as this point, it's not like he's going to sell it.
  22. not trying to steal a record from someone. either way, the record in 5 pieces probably has more sentimental value to him via the story and interaction with the group than a frankenstein looking playable record made out of the 5 pieces.
  23. There's some song that I can't think of that has a male singer with the lines "we don't need no zodiac sign". anyone?
  24. anyone got a pic?
  25. thank you. the link also has a much more in depth story for people who are interested.
