that is probably the source of the lineup I list above. But Dave has some connection to the group too as he issued an unissued record of theirs. And he very thorough and detailed notes about some of his other releases so I doubt he's just randomly speculating.

the chansonettes is probably the worst one (and I even own it so I'm not talking down stuff I don't have).

popsike collects data and does a bulk upload every few weeks. collectorsfrenzy updates daily. both miss data and popsike has been purging a lot of data in the last year or two. it would be nice if chris had an explanation for how the exact same listings were on popsike. the only explanation i can think of is that they were all previously shill bid and ended without meeting the "reserve". This is not an accusation, it's just the only explanation I can think of, so I'd like to hear something that explains otherwise. Also, any serious collector or dealer grades records. Someone can post their explicit grading scale if they want to make it less subjective.

Here is a copy of Jesse Fisher's "Honey" / "I can't stop loving you" on SoJamm. It's hard to grade the styrene on this title but "Honey" looks clean, at least VG+, I can't really see anything wrong. "I can't stop loving you" has some sort of whitening of the grooves (visible in the scan). It's unplayable -- it plays through but with distortion. It's not styrene burn but it's effectively the same and I don't think you could clean it (maybe if you are some sort of genius materials science engineer or something). Labels have some light wear (see photos). here is unaltered 256kbs stereo audio of the entirety of "Honey" recorded with a shure white label cartridge: https://www.divshare....ad/21402452-7a3 here are hi-res scans of both sides. $200ppd anywhere in the world. when the few copies came out that I was the second bidder on every time and which were bought up by DJs (before it was big), they all went for about $500-$600

But I know you were involved with issuing that Satisfaction Unlimited single so you probably have some other information. Can you reconcile the information somehow? I would appreciate it.

it doesn't sound like a different take at all. Just a different mix. The vocal take is definitely identical. The baritone sax hits at exactly the same spot at the start of both versions. It's just mixed louder in one. I can line both of the recordings up in a multitrack editor if you want to compare.

one more thing to add to clearvinyl's post above. if you're not sure about your turntable setup at home, and it might be mistracking, ellipticals will tear up your records when mistracking. so probably you should be sure about your turntable setup and calibration before using ellipticals. but when set up and calibrated correctly, ellipticals will reveal more detail in the sound.

The second picture (which is what I scanned and posted on the internet btw, and which is what has circulated) is the Detroit group. It says Detroit on the picture. The first record is by a New Jersey group. They are not the same group. Detroit is far away from New Jersey. "The Superlatives" is not a particularly unique name. The groups are different. They are not the same group. One group is from Detroit, the other group is from New Jersey. The groups are not the same.The picture on the right is not the picture of the group singing on the record on the left. They are two different groups with the same name. I don't know if I'm being clear since I'm being so concise, so in conclusion: There are two different groups that recorded soul records as the Superlatives, one from New Jersey and one from Detroit. The picture on the left is a picture of the record recorded by the New Jersey group. The picture on the right is a photo of the Detroit group. Also in general, every record by the same group name is not necessarily the same group. I apologize if I'm not being clear about this,please let me know.
