  1. First of all, you can make the point more objectively and abstractly -- e.g. you can say that someone bidding blind on an expensive record without reading the description and then just withdrawing the bid is offensive. You don't have to make it personal, which is clearly what this is, with the cussing and direct snipes. You can mention Phil and his actions but he's being addressed pretty personally and in an attacking way. Second of all, I think there is a big focus on the cost of record and the linking of it to someone's status on the scene all the time here. It might be less explicit, but I feel it's pretty pervasive -- e.g. who can afford the expensive records required of an "OVO" DJ, if they want to play the currently in demand records? Your singling out of Phil's attitude here I think really hides this fact. Anyways, I don't want to censor your opinion about Phil's actions, but you don't have to put your opinion in the form of a direct personal attack.
  2. again, please stop the bickering, it isn't going anywhere
  3. Andy Dyson already said above that someone involved with the record sent him all 3 45s (Barry, Op-art, new sound)
  4. locking this thread, there's already a long thread on this. Thanks.
  5. Thanks so much for your help! I also see that the promo is identical to my acetate as it has a 3:26 and 6:00 minute version on it. Thanks again.
  6. Also, if you really want the first press, I'm pretty sure the pink version of the first LP is the first press.
  7. I recently got a 7" frankford wayne 70s acetate of the first choice "gotta get away", one side is a 3:26 version and the other side is a 6 minute version. Was this ever released in the 70s in any format? I'm pretty sure it wasn't a 7" single. Discogs only shows some late 90s remix 12". I guess it was on some greatest hits CD, was this LP ever issued with this track in the 70s? Thanks in advance.
  8. These are all legit 70s presses. He only has "permission" to play the first one? Seriously? EDIT: I apologize if am misunderstanding and you are trying to tell him the best pressing or something like that.
  9. this is not currently true on ebay. the bidder list looks exactly the same during and after the auction. Also, not directed at either one of you, please stop bickering, this isn't an argument that's going anywhere and escalating it won't do anything. Thank you.
  10. that video is totally ADD btw. i can't believe the person made 1300 videos like that too.
  11. the jubilee records sound totally different than her previous material to me, her style went southern, probably due to the womack's influence. the clip you posted also sounds southern.
  12. I'm not sure the people with too much cash are the people who overpay. I bet someone with very little cash will buy that margaret little with the chunk taken out of it, as having an expensive record is such a status symbol on the northern scene and the person will see it as their only chance to get a copy.
  13. For sale - Vontastics - I'll never say goodbye / don't mess around - Satellite 2002 Two great northern sides. Vinyl is VG, has most but not all gloss, some surface scuffing. Both sides play great, here is a 256kbs stereo recording of the entirety of both sides: https://www.divshare....ad/21750156-186 Labels have some light staining on both sides and the "don't mess around" side has some light tearing. See pics. The label on "don't mess around" is stable and won't tear more if you run your finger across the label. $75. $2.50 US shipping, $7 overseas, paypal only. *EMAIL* SITPSales@gmail.com to reserve. Thank you
  14. I think the first few times it was on ebay it went for a lot (I think Mike Vague sold it a few times) and then interest waned. I didn't pay that much for mine. I don't like it that much but right now there are some very similar sounding latin records that are big that I don't like but that other people like a lot and that people put in their sets and mixes, so my opinion doesn't matter I guess.
  15. sorry, this was confusing, KevH said "manufactured tune" (as in tailor made) and Tony Smith in response said it was a "manufactured record" (talking about it being a custom recording / press) and I was explaining what I think Tony meant in his response.
  16. because, just to clarify, all 45s are manufactured...
  17. I think he just means "custom press" and "custom recording"
  18. the qbert has to be for scratching -- it has to be a reference to dj qbert, one of the invisibl skratch piklz
  19. Could have done it before with much difficulty, but this wouldn't be too hard to fix if my friend lets me use his 3d printer and he did the CAD stuff. Obviously it wouldn't play music over that spot but you could actually play the intro and it would be like running over a heat damaged part of the record or something similar.
  20. I have a copy of Lucky Laws on Lu-Cee to sell. VG-, mainly because of ugly circular surface scuffing around the label, a ring about 1cm wide, DNAP. A nice play copy. here is full unprocessed stereo 256kbs audio of both sides: https://www.divshare.com/download/21479401-588 Here are scans of both sides (the scuffing does not show up in the scans): https://i982.photobucket.com/albums/ae304/sittinginthepark/luckylaws-a_zpsf144e235.jpg https://i982.photobucket.com/albums/ae304/sittinginthepark/luckylaws-b_zps94a2328a.jpg $50, paypal only, to reserve please EMAIL sitpsales@gmail.com. 21. that pic looks like something like dust or something got embedded under the grooves (which is what someone else suggested to me) and there are spikes coming out of the record, which I'm sure pop when the needle goes over them. That's not what this record looks like at all. they are like very wide (but not tall at all) sand dunes or something. it's a clean record with a bizarre pressing defect that doesn't affect play.
  22. some of those people do post threads on here
  23. shady people exist in every country collecting every genre. i'm sorry this happened to you.
  24. the phenomenon is mainly for boogie records and the scammers are mostly younger, early 20s collectors just knocking up bids or screwing around. the problem is that there are obviously legitimate boogie buyers in those countries and the scammers do it frequently and ruin the reputation of the countries for everyone.
