Hi. I have two questions about Barbara Mason's Arctic 45s. I've seen this listing, but question its existence. Has anyone seen this: 120 Oh How It Hurts / I Need Love (fg) (6/66) it seems strange that there would be a press from '66 that has "oh how it hurts" instead of "bobby is my baby", esp. given that "oh how it hurts" was like her second biggest hit that happened in 1968. My second question is that I've seen a listing of this: 137 I Can Feel Your Love Slipping Away / (12/67) i assume it's a single sided arctic record. has anyone seen this? It also seems strange given that 137 was her hit "oh how it hurts" and already got mispressed with the wrong song on the flip (the other thread) many times. Thanks for any help.

sorry, I didn't mean to be personally nasty to you, and I agree the "joke" thing was rude, the response was more of a reaction to it not being immediately helpful to my question and the mowest discography with one release in it. mowest is actually an interesting label to collect because there were a lot of releases and a lot of weird #s that never came out but for which test presses exist. I'm only missing a couple of numbers on the label. i went through the seabear site and the pic sleeve page isn't very complete. the bartlette book is also incomplete actually (as already mentioned), although it strangely mentions that there's a jackson 5 pic sleeve for a single that was never released except in test press form, which is obviously wrong. I think I need to buy another book, the guide for pic sleeve collectors. Thanks for being reasonable and not flipping out at my rude comment. BrianK, thanks for looking in the Whitburn book for me. I have a high inergy one sided promo 45 on colored vinyl that I think might have come with a PS. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

In Hi label discographies there is a listing for Hi 2281 - Known Facts - he's got it / how can I believe in you. The record is around on the Pawn label but I have never seen it on Hi. Does anyone here have it or has anyone seen it on Hi? Maybe it was planned but not released on Hi? Thanks in advance.

popsike is barely useful for evidence of anything anymore, most of the listings have disappeared. it also frequently sells for less than $20 which is under the popsike threshhold. here's one of the ones that was up recently: https://www.collectorsfrenzy.com/details/261383966424/28B_VG_northern_soul_The_Trends_dance_with_me_baby_45_rpm_Smash_1914_side collectorsfrenzy does have 1 stock and 5 promos so stock is probably rarer at least

EDIT: I don't need to be saying negative things about someone trying to do something positive. sorry.
-
thank you, I might invest in that book. Thanks everyone for their suggestions.
-
I appreciate your passion / love for the label and putting it online but it wasn't a good suggestion for me as a complete reference point for pic sleeves in the '70s and on which is what my response was based on. Good luck with your site.

stock isn't that rare, i think one was just on ebay the other day. the other side "to be happy enough" is one of my favorite sweet soul records. it sounds like donald jenkins and the delighters.

thanks for posting. the first site was almost a joke, the motown discography went to 1965 and mowest had a single title (tom clay) and said "incomplete". really? the seabear site is great but it doesn't list whether the singles had picture sleeves in their discography. There *was* a picture sleeve gallery but it was just a random selection. Like there wasn't a single Jackson 5 pic sleeve. Where do I go if I want to know which J5 singles had pic sleeves? The Bartlette book? EDIT: i see Bartlette is incomplete. How incomplete is it?

I just want to say that the seller Dave who is on here is a very honest person and I have had no problems with him. -
thanks steve, you don't have to go through the trouble of pulling out the book, although it might be a decent last resort for me. okeh would be much easier to do if the info is missing, as it's shorter and the sleeves are known. motown put out a bazillion singles, like how do i know which of the 20 high inergy singles had sleeves?

Is there a US motown 45 discography somewhere that notes whether a release has a pic sleeve or not? Ideally going through the '80s but any period of time into the '70s would be useful. Thanks in advance.

i always thought the carlettes must have some connection to the early '60s new york girl group the corlettes who recorded on nita and kansoma but i could never find any info on the group.
-
a long time ago i sold an lp to someone who called me complaining that his parrot chewed up the cover and LP, like it was my fault
-
I would think so, esp. given that it looks like they licensed everything from him...
-
i definitely think that there are some instances where overseas collectors have labeled certain things bootlegs where they were really alternate pressings (e.g. due to demand) done around the time of release.

Thanks Alan! What's funny is that based on that link I'm pretty sure the half torn off pic is her, even though it's a different photo altogether. It would be pretty bizarre if somehow a similar looking woman got a sticker of herself on the label though. I actually had an ultra-collector nerd ulterior motive in asking the original question, I was trying to figure out whether I should remove this ugly torn label from the record or whether it was part of the original artifact and should leave it. So now I have to leave the ugly label.

probably released at the height of '70s porno chic / mainstreamness of "deep throat", etc. meri wilson telephone man was less explicit but actually got radio play. -
i'm sure they came out within months of each other either way. also, besides the evidence you cite, i doubt anyone will be able to come up with any more info, esp. if the deadwax is the same.

subtle, i think the creations on globe one is the best so far. one of the best records and i would have never noticed the valentine's day. you gotta pop out the metal center on that cheryl ann. i finally picked up that skill after years of unsuccessful attempts. apparently all rockabilly collectors can do it in 2 seconds.

haha, not exactly, i don't want some kid's name who bought it written all over the record. it took a minute but i actually figured out your abbreviation

I think really personal, long private messages / dedications from the artist to friends / lovers / family from back in the day are pretty awesome. Records signed from the artist to British people in the '90s are less awesome.
