nobody got paid on tax scam LPs except the label, that was the scam.
almost nobody got paid on non-tax scam LPs.
now those tiger lily and other tax scam LPs are worth a ton of money, I bet the original people wish they kept some
This thread is about where the term came from. One more discussion post about actual "OVO" and I'm closing the thread. Not trying to censor anyone, please read the large amount of existing threads on the topic (which at this point only negatively affect the AATS forum, even if your post is friendly and positive). If you have some totally new perspective to add hit "report" on the thread. Thank you.
I'm closing this thread as a) the original post either was blank / useless or b) the original poster got their answer and erased the question, leaving nothing left for the board.
In general, if you're posting on a public forum and getting the info of the message board, do NOT erase your original post, as the board deserves access to whatever info they gave you, and you're polluting the forum with a useless thread. Thank you.
This is the lineup I have of the sequins on detroit sound:
Brenda Roland, Brenda Knight, Merlene Druskell
This is the lineup I have of the lollipops on impact / VIP
Arenita Walker (lead), later of Godmama, Joyce Walker, Angela Allen.
I have the RCA group marked as a White group. Are they not a White group?
I think the term originated with a thread started on here by Steve G, you can search for it.
If this thread turns into a debate about original vinyl vs. not I will close it, as it has been debated ad nauseum and it's not what the title of the thread is about (where the word came from). If you feel you have something to add to the debate, please read all of the many "OVO" threads first, since you probably don't have any new revelations to add. If you feel you do, hit "report" and give some more info. "OVO" threads by now just pollute the AATS forum with bad vibes and bickering and no new info. Thanks a lot.
I don't understand why this record isn't a thing yet, it's on the hard-to-find stock copy of "good loving is just a dime away" and is so awesome. This is my pick, even though I have no influence on anyone:
the currently available home printer (made by a NY company called Makerbot) uses a different process that is much lower resolution and won't produce the results in the article (done with a professional printer). But there is a home stereolithography printer coming out soon, it is the same kind of printer used in the article and is a higher resolution. Basically it laser etches soft vinyl which hardens when exposed to a certain UV light, which allows it to achieve a much higher resolution. But you would also need a 3d scanner.
Once the technology gets higher res you would get closer. But I imagine it would be a long time before it was somehow exactly the same. Even records made from older stampers don't sound that good and people will probably always be able to tell.
jhsoul, I think titebond 2 is a wood glue. Can you try using something similar to the White Elmers Glue that everyone knows, don't know what the equivalent is in the UK? I'm guessing it won't leave any stain.
If 45s are packed as "flats" there is a much smaller rate increase. That involves packing them in those crappy envelope style mailers that are popular in the UK. That is not a safe way to send packages overseas. One thing that might happen is a compromise in packaging / safety in order to get lower rates (e.g. a few inserts in a bubble mailer is definitely not safe compared to a real mailer). Maybe UK buyers will start experiencing the breakage rates that I experience from uk sellers...
No, for most people it makes a big difference. I am very good at cleaning 45s.
Some people have cleaned hundreds of records with glue and it has helped them a lot.
If you're going to publicly post a question (in the main forum) and then get an answer, please do NOT erase your original question as it makes the thread pointless. Thank you.
The US postal service is in crisis, not because of basic cost increases but because of much larger systematic problems related to pensions, etc. There are threats of it shutting down. I don't know if this change was done specifically in response to that or not though.
I guess MrsWoodsRules agrees with you above. I've done it on about a dozen records but don't use it because I haven't had a case where it adds anything to my existing cleaning so I don't do it regularly. So I probably missed it.
it really doesn't matter that much. some kinds will be easier to peel off and stick together better and some won't. just buy some and test on some garbage records. I still use my turntable btw but I put a cardboard filler pad under the 45. I have a technics 1200 and I take the mat off and push the filler pad through the spindle, then put on a 45 adapter on top of that. Otherwise the 45 adapter tends to slip off (e.g. if there's not much spindle to hold it) and the record goes off center.
thank you, i appreciate it. it probably is instrumental of something released just because it would have been easier, but it doesn't matter much. thanks again.
it would be a huge pain in the ass, plus i checked with someone with a 3d printer and the current home models don't have enough resolution to do vinyl grooves. there is one coming out soon that can do grooves, not that really sound much like the original (they sound like a muffled version of the original), but at least you could do something that lines up. I'm going to do it manually with another record as a proof-of-concept and do scans at each step and post the results.
don't water it down. it's also water soluble so if there are scraps left on use water to get them off. you can also use wood glue, which is much harder than pva glue (e.g. sandable, not water soluble), but it doesn't bond to the vinyl any better than the pva glue (which is good in a sense, it's still removable), so the pva glue is safer.
also, no reason to glue the deadwax and touch the label like that, you risk tearing the label.
I've never heard this side of one of the sassy presses. Is it an instrumental? if so, is it an instrumental of the a-side or some other specific track? Thanks in advance.
