  1. aren't they different versions?
  2. also this is the later cadet label of this, I have this on blue/white. is this rarer?
  3. or if someone sent a message and didn't get a response, an agent could be dispatched to the unresponsive party to slap them
  4. I avoid this problem by keeping every record ever
  5. Have you seen the hundreds of pages of threads on the validity of "OVO"? I'm trying to allow a real discussion about a different but related topic without it spiraling into the exact same discussion that everybody feels the need to express an opinion and that nobody has anything new to add to. They create bad blood and people just take shots at each other and it ruins the AATS forum. I'm trying to be as lenient as possible without deleting the thread. I'm not paranoid, what I'm describing has already happened many times and has started to happen in this thread a couple times. Thank you.
  6. I like the kendricks better. either way awesome clips.
  7. I deleted this post which is the exact same argument that has been repeated over and over and over again (OVAOVAOVA) in the "OVO" threads. Not trying to censor anyone, but again this thread is about the history of "OVO", not the merits of it. Thank you.
  8. not just condition of that one item drove up that price but the fact that the seller had a large amount of good condition good records drove people to their auctions in general
  9. it was a qualitative description of the recording but that said, it does appear that there is at least blight in the city: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Petersburg,_Florida in 2010, 15.9% of the houses were vacant, and I'm guessing they're concentrated in specific areas. i don't know what it was like in the early 70s though.
  10. it did chart on the US R&B charts though
  11. Hi, welcome to my first Sitting in the Park show of 2013, I hope everyone had a great holiday! Yesterday I did another nice music show. I played a set of uptempo male groups, midtempo female groups (including Lyn Collins first recording), some midtempo 70s male-female duets, and some sweet soul (including music by recently deceased artists Fontella Bass and Terry Huff). You can listen to the show online at: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/1-6-2013.mp3? You can listen to other shows and interviews with Chicago groups by going to my main page www.sittinginthepark.com. Also, if someone you know wants to subscribe to this email list, they can add themselves at the following URL: https://eepurl.com/n7Qr5 Playlist follows and thanks for your interest. 12. no chance. this prelude was LA with HB Barnum affiliations. The disco label was NY and was apparently run by someone named Marvin Schlacter: https://www.discogs.com/label/Prelude+Records
  13. it's also the Marvelows (the chicago group) not the Marvellos (la group).
  14. although there is no excuse for grading, I'm surprised at the attitude here that sellers should be negged for not automatically falsifying customs forms.
  15. just fyi, the seller has no control over the bid increments. as the bid amounts get higher, the bid increments get higher -- there is a chart on ebay showing what increments correspond to what bid amounts.
  16. This was a good thread, about the history of the word and of the mentality of the scene. The last dozen or half dozen posts have been drifting off into another debate about why DJs should or shouldn't care. If it continues that way I'm not sure, I'll either close the thread or delete the off-topic posts as the topic has been surprisingly new and interesting. e.g. even before the phrase was coined (which itself is interesting), when was there a mentality shift / focus on having originals. Again, it's a historical question, not a debate about the validity of "OVO'.
  17. I think the Mary Wells is LP only (on the My Guy LP). Did it get a single release in any country?
  18. I think Mary Wells is the original (at least it's written by Smokey).
  19. if you call ebay customer support you can possibly get further on the issue (same with sellers who get decided against).
  20. deletion is forever. sorry again!
  21. I'm pretty sure it was referring to me
  22. you should have at least called ebay if your personal stolen items were for sale, they won't respond to messages
  23. I was trying to delete my post and ended up accidentally deleting the entire topic. That was not my intent, I apologize.
