  1. I don't understand the specific thing about the fifes. The Jameco record is the same recording, right? But you are saying that he organized the Fifes after the Carrie record was released? So neither record is actually "the fifes"? I know the fifes were a different group, I have a lineup written down (possibly from that "webisode").
  2. yeah, I understood it was the orange label copy. Definitely is rare and not a hit. It was pressed on the orange label and I assume picked up nationally on Jameco. The 70s green press was for the collectors market.
  3. I've actually never seen a jameco copy with the fifes sticker, would love to see it. Can someone post a pic/scan?
  4. "the fifes". they are a different group than the arabians and are credited on the jameco copy pictured above.
  5. sorry, it might be a 70s issue, I thought it was 80s because the label did a bunch of new presses in the 80s. It was done at the same time of the reissue of the Combinations "Voo Doo" which was done for the doowop market. It's definitely not 60s though and the orange press is 60s.
  6. THANK YOU that was what I was trying to think of.
  7. I have a pretty clean 1012 to sell, but I just gave it to my friend Kim to price and take it to the UK. I can get her to send it back to me or send it to you, what is the going rate?
  8. green label carrie is an early 80s legit reissue. Orange label is the original has a different catalog number (6502). original is around $300-$350 m-.
  9. Before anyone suggests it is, I can tell you that it's not the same Mary Wheeler who recorded on Calla. I know someone who talked to the Calla artist.
  10. I think the person who told me about the female thing actually said it was 1018, after the last listed number? Am I confused / making this up? Anyone who can corroborate? I've never seen that 1015 number btw.
  11. I hope the seller has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, and that the guarantee is not a lie
  12. This is 1014: https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/51033/DYNASONICS I think 1015 is a very rare record, by a female solo artist, I can't remember the name though.
  13. it won't damage it, but if you have some garbage throwaway records to test on you can try that first. for the record, in order to be absolutely sure that goo gone doesn't damage 45s i poured some on a styrene 45 and vinyl 45 and left it sitting for a week. the fumes are pretty noxious and i had to move the records to another room after a day. after i wiped off what was remaining (i put enough on that it didn't evaporate in a week and left an ugly mess on the record) both looked and played the same.
  14. you can also use goo gone which is made for removing adhesives. safe on styrene or vinyl. also removes stickers on the label. looks like it stains the label but it evaporates after like 12 hours. isopropyl won't do anything bad, it usually just won't work.
  15. and for the record, before someone tells me i'm giving a BS example, I have gotten straight hair metal and hard rock 45s sold to me as soul several times. there is no blurry line there. i am not marcofunk. and none of the apologists for the original seller in the thread have said anything about the 100% satisfaction guarantee being voided.
  16. this is my favorite soul record. it's soul because it's 100% subjective.
  17. listen to the video i posted
  18. just because it was funny (since no matter how the record was described or guaranteed I'm gonna be called a dick for asking to return it), I found a video I made of an unplayable record I got from a seller. it had a heat ripple on the edge that made it unplayable at a regular tracking force. They were really rude and I had to make a video to get them to take it back. here is the video: https://www.divshare....ad/23536122-6ef after i show the skipping, i pick up the needle and drop it on the record. listen to the record. This is the auction (somehow up from 2011 for some reason): https://cgi.ebay.com/...3#ht_500wt_1182 here is a screenshot just in case this link dies. also note that the record is ungoogleable, the only hit you get is my positive feedback I left after getting refunded (I don't leave DSRs either by the way).
  19. Why are you intent on creating bad blood with me? like you had some deep down dislike of me and want to make sure it's reciprocated? That's fine I guess, now I know the undertone of all your posts. Don't know where this is coming from though, I didn't do anything to you, I must be rubbing you the wrong way. I'm obviously not talking about just the category selection but I'm sure you know that and you're just being a prick for no reason, and you'll find some other stupid way to take my posts out of context to call me a dick.
  20. and then say that I'm being a dick for asking a seller who sold a straight country record as soul to take it back
  21. read my post, i google every unknown record i bid on
  22. when they say it's acceptable to sell a country record as soul and when they say "100% satisfaction guarantee" means that a buyer can't return a record based on a misunderstanding of something that was not explicit in the description.
  23. and just to clarify, these aren't sellers who know anything about any soul scene, they are people who know zero about soul music and put everything there because they are greedy
  24. i can play you 100% country and 80s heavy metal records that i have been sold as soul. i actually have a stack of them probably a foot high now. i don't even deal with returning them or say anything to the seller if they are like $10 records. They are all ungoogleable private label things. And the gamble usually works in my favor.
  25. Also, trolling or not, I wouldn't put all this out there Benji if you sell records and believe or don't believe all the things you're saying
