  1. Hi. I'm sorry about your experience with the audience. I'm interested to hear about the different performers of the show though, was everyone good, can you describe how each performer was, the highlights, who still has it, who doesn't, etc.? Some people I've seen are fantastic (like Renaldo Domino) and others aren't in as good form. Thanks a lot.
  2. in chicago the persuasions 45 is what shows up, "summer ride" was a hit. however, people like terry gesten have had actual stock of the lock 45. not sure where that leaves the question of "which is rarer".
  3. I agree with Steve, the type of stuff that Clifton sold / appealed to was a small set of hardcore fans, who even did things like make new doowop records themselves and who favored a lot of White sounding things. The equivalent would be if soul music was only collected by a small set of people who were into the pop / soul played at a particular northern venue and nobody else collected soul music. There are so many scenes and different sets of collectors (including ones who are now branching into the doowop era) that I'm not seeing it dying anytime soon. It might eventually die, but not the way doowop is.
  4. It has not been booted. The green label is a much much rarer original, non-promo. Some ahole started that rumor to piss off someone who had an original stock copy
  5. yes, and they are 2 of the 4 of billy and the hiliners. The link was broken, I just fixed it in case anyone tried to listen and had a problem. This is the correct link: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews/inspirations-1-2-3-2013.mp3?
  6. Hi. Today I did part 1 of an interview of an interesting singer / songwriter who was in a lot of different groups, most of them Milwaukee-based. Billy Miller was part of the Inspirations on Galaxie / Midas, Billy and the Hi-liners, the Soulful Twins (aka Billy and Betty), Brethren, and a few more groups. Billy has an interesting story that is long enough to cover two different radio shows. You can listen to part 1 here: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews/delvettes-4-1-2012.mp3? I will be doing part 2 next week. Check out my other soul group interviews at: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews.html thanks for your interest, Bob
  7. Why does everyone keep saying barbara acklin was a member? I doubt it and I think it's just speculation. Does anyone have any real evidence? One went under the radar on ebay maybe 6 years ago for about $100 (maybe even less), I didn't even see it and Butch won it. I was so pissed.
  8. It has to be the spoilers first now that the persuasions are not the spoilers. They must have reused the track as a b-side.
  9. I was going to say what I thought came first but if you listen to "summer ride" vs. "spoiler's rap" they're clearly not even the same group. That high falsetto in "Summer ride" is Larry Johnson, lead of the majestic arrows, elevation on crown town, etc. and the group is clearly all adults. "Spoiler's rap" is clearly a kiddie group.
  10. yeah, and playing $4000 records with worn out bent styluses and not spending $100 on their own cartridge
  11. the other enticers 45, "Thief", has a break on it, you could use a double for beat juggling. i'm sure northern DJs do that a lot right?
  12. Thanks for posting, moved to look at your box, as this is related to buying / selling physical records. re: original question, tons of sellers are just irrational, there's no reasonable explanation for lots of things.
  13. lots of sellers do this. don't understand why none of the buyers left a followup response and reported the feedback though. funnier ones I've seen involve the seller not leaving feedback making themselves look insane but instead leaving feedback making it look like they resolved the issue and the buyer was happy (when they clearly weren't).
  14. probably easy to confuse since darrow fletcher was on both labels
  15. Ebonystic on Scream - $225. Nice clean copy, VG++, a few very light surface scuffs. Killer sweet soul side and nice DJable funky crossover side, same atlanta label as billy byrd. I was planning to put this in an ebay auction but first trying to put it up for a quick sale (it will probably go for more in the auction). here is the sweet side: here is the funky crossover side: Youtube clips not of this record. Free shipping anywhere in the world if you pay as paypal gift. If nobody buys this I'll just put in my auction. PM me or ideally email me at sitpsales@gmail.com Thanks in advance. EDIT: just to be clear, price is in US$. Thank you. EDIT: SOLD

  16. I only know of one Jacklyn label from Chicago. Is there a specific new york release you're thinking of that I might be forgetting? Thanks.
  17. I merged the two topics. I don't understand why a new one was created, they are totally the same. I also don't understand why this is a thing all of a sudden. I agree it is annoying but is there a sudden surge in people not responding? Either way, please keep any posts within this topic. Thanks a lot.
  18. The Paul Smith "I'll run" was booted for the Jamaican market. It's pretty obviously a boot, the font / paper looks wrong though. I don't think anything else on the label was booted.
  19. US sellers actually will start to open up their overseas sales as the increased first class international postage costs are going to come with international delivery tracking. But the USPS has not officially rolled it out yet. Once it is in place US sellers will feel safer about selling overseas and I'm sure ebay and paypal will start to allow that as proof of delivery, preventing many fraudulent chargebacks.
  20. i talked to numero today (well yesterday at this point) but forgot to ask, will ask on the phone later
  21. I assume it's because they talked to him in detail for their boddie comp (the trading card above you posted was made by numero), and they are aware of the pet 45. I will ask them more details when i talk to them on the phone.
  22. numero says it's definitely not the pet artist
  23. haha look at the old people dancing... oh wait
  24. I used to always call in at the last half hour and bid top on his lists. Looks like the lists finally died a couple years ago: https://www.mojoboneyard.com/ he still records mostly blues music
  25. I have not noticed that but it is definitely a positive change
