  1. i got this on ebay recently for the minimum bid of $10
  2. also if you listen to the lyrics of this song they actually say how to do the camel walk. they also say it's an old dance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7chVXIEnJiU
  3. obviously the labrenda ben is the most soul version relevant to this group. how dare you drag sleazy rock into the thread!
  4. I can come over to your house and bring the record so you can take a picture with it in your collection
  5. This was in demand / buzzed about years ago (possibly due to a new manship guide listing) and then it disappeared. but copies didn't come through for sale either, not clear what happened. one just sold 15 days ago, and a few in the last year, but it had been years before that since i had seen one for sale.
  6. the horse dance was pretty simple, it pretty much involved pretending you were riding a horse. The Camel Walk was a pretty big dance, totally different and predated the horse. here is some video. I think there is one more release on Mean but I can't think of it, or I might be thinking of another obscure j/g green label that I can't think of... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7WEbwOXN2c
  7. the seller had it for auction mislisted and was convinced to do a BIN
  8. there is a different time listed on the INS 45 but it's actually the same recording / time
  9. most of these stories are about bargains from last century
  10. Hi, welcome to my latest Sitting in the Park music show from last Sunday 3-17-2013. It was a special show because guest DJ / collector Elaine Wade came down from Wisconsin. We played all her selections off of her original 45s. Elaine brought some excellent music, some that I hadn't even heard before. You can listen to the special show here: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/3-17-2013-Elaine.mp3? You can listen to other shows and interviews with Chicago groups by going to my main page www.sittinginthepark.com Also, if someone you know wants to subscribe to this email list, they can add themselves at the following URL: https://eepurl.com/n7Qr5 Following is Elaine's playlist along with her notes on her selections: PHILLY SET I: Kenny & Tommy–Some Day (You’ll Be My Love)–Heritage [Kenny Gamble & Thom Bell] Exception’s–Baby You Know I Need You–Groovey Grooves [Charlie Horner has an alternate version, which is faster on his website: www.classicurbanharmony.net . 11. you mean does it sound like white pop or "teener"? I will listen later. But I think a bunch of the francettes 45 sound similar.
  12. on my shelf i only had romark 106. i had a phillip sisters on a chicago label, a gospel thing, probably unrelated.
  13. I have at least one and the francettes, digging them out now
  14. I don't remember seeing it
  15. Andy posted reasonable prices. It's not like he's offering $100 for a $1000 record. He may have posted on the low end but that's his prerogative as a buyer and he can wait until he finds a seller to sell at those prices.
  16. I am looking for mary silvers on tip top to give to someone as a gift (I already have a copy in my collection). I am willing to pay up to $100 depending on condition. I will take off condition copies though. It looks like I just missed one on musicstack. I do not need it on one-der-ful. I will not pay more than $100 (again, if it's for me you might get me sweating for not having it but it's not). Thanks in advance.
  17. did you just talk about yourself in the third person?
  18. usually when all the copies are in the UK it means that stock was imported, it wouldn't be beat up. i have a double of this somewhere right now if someone needs it, not mint though
  19. Butch and the Newports are exactly the same group as the Gaslight. They have 2 members in common with the earlier group the Young Sirs. Didn't see the price (probably too high) but this record is sort of hard to find and rarely comes up clean.
  20. only on soul source would the answer to this question not be James Brown
  21. i have this, this isn't like a valuable record or anything if you were checking for that. tommy and liz lands lived in both chicago and atlanta, and most of liz' 45s were pressed on atlanta labels, it's not that strange that it was released in atlanta. also, if there is a motown recording, it's not clear whether it is the same recording or if they re-recorded it and released it.
  22. the planetary record is LA, this record is Chicago. dorothy berry in LA was in a lot of girl groups, she was married to richard berry. I think this record is her though. Adding to the confusion is Dorothie Berrie and the African Bag All Stars on USA, which has Big Black's (uni) publishing on it.
  23. not that hard to fix skips, and my hands aren't that steady
