  1. Please PM me if you have a copy to sell. Thanks in advance.
  2. I think the rumor that james sang with the domestic five is false, according to someone i know who talked with someone else involved with aquarius
  3. whoa i just got one of these out by sliding it and pushing it some way. i scraped up the inside of the label but didn't break the vinyl or anything. hopefully will become an expert soon...
  4. I'm looking for a copy of the Debonettes "I'll never let you go" on Merry. It's listed in manship as the same number as the title with "Tears" but it does not have "Tears" on it. Please PM me price / condition. Also, if you have a copy but don't want to sell it, I'd trade a recording of something you need for a recording of it so I could hear it. Thank you.
  5. Hi, welcome to the 11th Anniversary Show of the Sitting in the Park show. Every year on my anniversary I go back and play my favorite records that I played in the previous year. I also was able to do a two hour set because of the generosity of the previous and following DJs who let me cut into their shows. I also uploaded the show in stereo so the file will be larger than usual. You can check it out at: http://www.sittinginthepark.com/4-21-2013.mp3? You can listen to other shows and interviews with Chicago groups by going to my main page www.sittinginthepark.com Also, if someone you know wants to subscribe to this email list, they can add themselves at the following URL: http://eepurl.com/n7Qr5 Playlist follows and I hope you enjoy the show. 6. yeah, the what am I waiting for is gamble and huff so I knew it wasn't the original but I couldn't figure out the original. Turns out it's the flip of "got to give the people" so I had never flipped it over! thanks a lot.
  7. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mizell_Brothers
  8. the waxpo article was just a mizell interview and they were like "do you know the moments on hog is worth a zillion dollars" and they were like "really? we have tons of those in our basement!" of course they never surfaced but it's what led to the reissue.
  9. that was definitely at least a couple of years after the waxpo reissue. the reissue just has both sides of the hog single and a writeup that corrects the previously incorrect published article where they said there was no connection to the stang group.
  10. same band. i need the winkey and the function of togetherness 45
  11. I'm pretty sure they didn't have access to tape and had to master off a recording of a 45.
  12. one ended on ebay yesterday
  13. I think it's an unrelated Chicago gospel label named after the Thomas Singers. No sign of Eddie Thomas involvement (e.g. none of his publishing, his name, etc.).
  14. it still could be an unrelated chicago label. can you post a scan of the gospel label? the amazers are from minneapolis btw (but they are on the Chicago label).
  15. I think the thread title was just intentionally controversial / provocative. Don't understand why anyone is getting upset, the original post was pro-Linda Jones.

  17. Actually it gets more confusing there, as "bet you if you ask around" by Velvet is a different group than the Velvet on the first perception single. The group broke up and the producer formed a new one to record. Both were from Chicago. The Quadraphonics were from Milwaukee. All the recordings were Chicago recordings. They definitely do have a 70s Chicago sound, but I can see the nod to philly.
  18. magnificent men is the original version (I'm sure you know, just clarifying).
  19. that peace of mind (there are a few songs with that name) was originally done by the magnificent men.
  20. Velvet on Lovelite was later released on Perception. Velvet was almost the same group as the Flairs.
  21. a year ago i gave the lead singer a copy of the ace/kent impressed CD that had his cut
  22. i held that copy in my hand before it was auctioned. the record was known by older sweet soul collectors for a long time. the buyer can confirm when he gets his copy that there's no pressing problem.
  23. I'm pretty sure that it has no pressing problem and that the copy that Paul Sadot got had a cigarette burn in the intro.
