  1. I'm still trying to get an mp3 of the visitors "little golden band" to finish a cd for a member of the group. The other side would be great too, but he specifically remembers the little golden band side. I would appreciate it, and you would be giving back to the people that made the music. Thank you.
  2. I'm guessing you would want a copy of the Sonics - "just like delilah" on White Cliffs. It's very rare, though, I bought it the only time I saw it in the last ten years, most people only know about their other 45. It's an excellent northern track where he's singing about how he's like sampson and his girl is like delilah, trying to trick him.
  3. Congratulations on your sale. "the world's foremost soul collector" has all sorts of misinformation on Chicago soul and soul from other cities. I used to see that johnny moore on the blue jadan all the time, in the last few years he decided that that was worth a ton (the orange one is way rarer, I've only found it maybe 3 times). At any time, you can pull up his auctions and pick out all sorts of misinformation. Last time I checked, he was describing some Ole-9 title as "chicago soul". There are also some extremely rare titles in Chicago that book low, for example, the flairs on rap is extremely rare in Chicago because all the stock was sent to the UK. The current big darrow fletcher on jacklyn was the one that was the hit in chicago, I used to see that in like every crappy collection I looked at, the other two darrow fletchers are way rarer, at least in Chicago.
  4. I meant to write "half a dozen" and yes I have. Do you want me to post a scan of my copy? It's also not messed up with tape all over it like yours is. I'll post it when I get home. I live in Chicago, so I guess you must know a lot more about the rarity of Chicago records since you're in the UK.
  5. I've seen this at least a dozen times in Chicago (not as a demo), actually I've seen it more than the "fatman" version.
  6. I really need a recording of the visitors on Dispo ("little golden band") to give to a group member. Actually, both sides of the record would be even better, but even just "little golden band" would be great. I'm not going to circulate it or anything, just going to put it on CD with the other group's records for the guy. Thanks in advance.
  7. Are you talking about when 2nd hand tunes will reopen? They are permanantly closed because of a long battle with the city over some sort of license the city wanted to make them buy. They were the only store that refused in the city to get it (it also required them to get more ID from sellers, which would be bad for them because they bought so many STOLEN items!). In Hyde Park, though, Hyde Park records is in their place and has a much larger 45 selection -- they won't have big ticket items on the floor (they put them on ebay) but there is a good selection of more common 45s.
  8. Half the stores you guys all mentioned are closed now! Record Dugout is one of the only places left to get 45s. Hyde Park Records is a new store in hyde park on 53rd street that has 45s you should check out. There is only one beverly records now (the old one closed a long long time ago), but it's extremely picked over, probably not worth your time. All the second hand tunes closed, and a store on Clark that had 45s (hifi records) just closed a week ago! It's slim pickings in Chicago now. Dusty Groove isn't a great place for 45s but has good prices on reissues. - bob in Chicago

  11. Thanks for the plug, I was posting in the Ivorys thread if you saw it. We are not streaming online yet, but the interviews will be of interest to people. I will post once we are actually streaming live so people can actually listen at that time. Otherwise, only Chicagoans can listen. Thanks.
  12. Mike: I just submitted my site, thanks so much. Dave: I totally appreciate the link. Kevin: The regular show is still not streaming online due to continuing issues with the station engineer that have been going on for years. However, here is one of my regular, non-interview shows if you want to check out what I do. I play group soul, so there's some northern stuff and some sweet stuff here: www.sittinginthepark.com/4-9-2006.mp3 If you like this, email me or something and I'll possibly put up some more radio shows for you. thanks, Bob
  13. Thanks for the feedback everyone, I appreciate it. Currently my site is not linked from anywhere so all my visitors are through word of mouth. Anyone willing to link my site from somewhere or send my site to someone who would be willing to link it? I could possibly create a links section to trade links. I don't profit off of this in any way, I pay for the website myself and don't have ads or anything like that, I just want to get these stories out more publicly. Thanks.
  14. Hi everybody. In order to raise money to buy more records, I just put up a large auction of over 100 modern and funk 45s. No crap, all items have soundclips taken from the actual records. Lots of known items, but a few unknown gems (check out the Procedures 45 I have up). My ebay user id is boba. (the period is part of the name) Direct link to the auctions: https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZbobaQ2e thanks, Bob
  15. i'm guessing you were going after that four andantes
  16. Maybe a couple of months ago there was some discussion about the Ivorys (I think someone was asking whether they were a Black group, given the name). I just intereviewed the group and it includes an explanation of the name if you're interested, interview is at the bottom of: www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews.html
  17. The Equations on All Platinum is definitely not the same as the Dakar group. The Dakar is clearly a kiddie group and came out more than 5 years later than the all platinum group.
  18. I'm been looking for a while for the following 45s: Shirley and the squires on constellation Squires - it's time / girls on Boss Billy McGregor was a member of this group. They are the same group as the antennas on clay and they back perk lee on boss. I own those two 45s. But I don't own the above two. I got a recording of "it's time" from someone. So if someone can't sell me either of the above two 45s, then I need recordings of both sides of the shirley and the squires and "girls" on boss. This is for a CD for some of the group members (including Billy McGregor). I (and the artists) would appreciate any help. thanks, Bob
  19. I posted a longer want list before, but I'm looking for these two titles (young mods on everblack or gangland) more than the others. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.
  20. Cotillions was just on ebay recently. I like the sparx version on bell. There's that electrons version and I think at least one more texas version by danny and the dreamers
  21. I know someone who says he has a copy, so I think it came out, but I've never seen it in real life. Thanks.
  22. I don't know that prolifics cut, but it must be the same group. Supposedly the same group as the moovers. Thanks for the compliment on the radio show. I don't think craig moorer has had that maxine crayton for a long time. I didn't really get responses, so let me try again. I'm really looking for those two young mods 45s. I have a copy of the Trends - Thanks for a little loving that I'm willing to trade for a copy of both records. I guess I would also consider one of the records and one of the other ones from my list, or possibly one of them and something else. Thanks.
