  1. That was a STEAL on that record, usually goes for $350+ and rarely comes up. The Kaldirons were the rival group of the Roe-o-tation, both groups went to Harlan high school on the south side of Chicago (which is where the 5 stairsteps came out of).
  2. John Anderson had it on ebay less than a year ago but I agreed to let me friend bid because he said he would go higher than me and he won it for 179 pounds. I have a rarer compacts 45 on the Bunbea label but still don't have the carla disc.
  3. is this the same as tyrone the wonder boy on 4 brothers?
  4. My stupid post was a result of me misreading your message, I thought you said 200 pounds as your rate (and I think I have seen people trying to sell it for that unsuccessfully)... I was essentially agreeing with you but I didn't know it. Thanks.
  5. I think $200 is closer than 200 pounds, never seen it sell that high despite people asking that much. This is also much rarer on the DeMorRis label, I have it on that label but have never seen it for sale on the label.
  6. Arizona's biggest soul labels were Artco and Ramco. It seems like a big deal to list all the california labels, though. There were a few odd vegas titles, can't think of one specific label that put out more than 1 or 2 releases.
  7. Chuck Bernard does this same song. There's also an unrelated but similar feeling "She's already married" by Chicago singer McKinley Mitchell.
  8. the dolphin group is an ohio group, same group as the fabulous determinations, and is unrelated to the other groups. I think the king group is white and is not related to the important group, but I'm not sure.
  9. anyone?
  10. thanks!
  11. I've never seen the non-football version. Can someone post a scan?
  12. That's cool, I've never seen that. You know there are a ton of five du-tones 45s, there are a few unknown gems on some of the sides.
  13. I have the otis bush, it's an okay early soul / popcorn sound, more mid-uptempo. I think there's a second otis bush on the label but I'm not sure. I have two 45s by Jim Easter and the Artistics on Cha cha, presumably there's some connection to the soul artistics but I'm not sure what it is. I also have a syl johnson 45 on the label, but it's not memorable. That Teddy Cash you got sounds nice, I think I'll try to find it a little cheaper than MS first. Thanks.
  14. I think the morris chestnut record you're looking for is by the Attractions on Bell (Morris sang lead).
  15. I just won the gatetown one M- on ebay for $30, no one else bid. So that doesn't really tell you the value. I think the morris vaughn on fontana is good and is actually pretty hard, but I got it very cheap recently (from someone on here who had it on his list and then put it on ebay when no one bought from his list). I really don't see either title around.
  16. It could also just be that I know the original too well and it doesn't sound like that.
  17. Interesting. Are they pitch shifted or processed in any way? Maybe the effect I'm talking about comes from simulating other horns (like trombones) with a trumpet?
  18. answers to love is mainly known by sweet soul collectors, it order for it to be worth something you need it with the flip and not as the double-a side. The answers to love are the same group as the answers on crash and scorpion, by the way.
  19. I'm impressed, but I think the horns and the strings sound pretty synthesized (especially the ones in the lower range). Definitely more real sounding than most stuff that comes out now, though.
  20. I got a couple of PM's about this, I called my friend and he said it was okay to post his email. If you want to buy a copy of the Mike Avery CD, email my friend Rob at sevier@numerogroup.com. Thanks.
  21. Thanks. My friend also has copies of Mike's CD, people can PM me if they want a copy and I'll forward the request to my friend. Thanks.
  22. I don't think their stuff has been reissued. However, I interviewed on of the members (Mike Avery), who was previously in the New Image on Cat. Reggie Lamb was also in the New Image. https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews...e-9-17-2006.mp3
  23. good price on this
  24. cool, nice 45 by the way, I like that motown record a lot, someone should buy it.
  25. I don't have the Fury 45 (I have a calla 45 and argo 45), but I do have an early Jean Terrell photo and an Ernie Terrell and the Heavyweights photo. If Simon wants scans, he can contact me through this board or by emailing me at the address at the bottom of www.sittinginthepark.com. Jean went to Farragut high school on the west side of Chicago, which is the same school that the Mandells and Conquistadors went to. I've been told (but have not confirmed) that the Ter-rels on ABC are also from Farragut and are related to Ernie and Jean. Thanks.
