  1. it's the intro to let's straighten it out
  2. yes it's the same label. psychotic reaction was a big hit for the count five, at least in the US. what's funny is that brenton wood actually covered the song, which is sort of ridiculous.
  3. "our generation" was actually sampled by pete rock + cl smooth so it's sort of wanted for that (although rap people will generally only want the LP). I've talked to Ernie a few times, he still gets royalty checks from that record (pete rock) as it's on a major label. He was really proud of it, but kept on talking about how rappers liked to "cover" his songs. Most people don't know much about Ernie, he's actually a Chicago artist, he's one of the writers of the Lovelites record on Bandera. He's an incredibly nice guy.
  4. I think people's prices are insane here. However, it's also probably not worth saying anything -- if certain people are going to list the same records for months or even a year (often putting them on ebay at impossible starting bids, then back here, then back on ebay) and not figure out that their prices are ridiculous (probably blaming everyone else for being jerks somehow), they're not going to listen to your post either. I still lurk and occasionally pay up for something I want (it's always still more than it would be on ebay though), but I'm also a heavy buyer and very few of my purchases are from here.
  5. I can't find the other ones, but I'd guess 4 out of 6 is enough of a pattern
  6. here is the harvey and the phenomenals original auction: https://cgi.ebay.com/Soul-45-Harvey-The-Phe...1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. here is the dab express original auction https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=270126425741
  8. here is the alley pat one: https://cgi.ebay.com/rare-funk-45-ALLEY-PAT...1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. chris had several copies of this to sell and has no connection to this french dude. I will try to send you links to the other photos, I'm sure I've seen at least a couple of them.
  10. by any chance was the other song called 'we want freedom'? are you sure it was on law-ton and not on another label?
  11. caesars - girl I miss you / desparate for your affection - lanie lovers - without a doubt / one way to love - frantic ringleaders - baby what has happened to our love / let's start over - mpac
  12. i think people on this board are quick on the trigger to call fake on things, but these are CLEARLY fake in this case. for example, the king earnest 45 photo was stolen from an auction by chriscarnahan2. i can point out where the other photos are from if you care, but you're going to lose your money here. In the absolute best case, he stole the photos from other auctions to list his genuine items, but I doubt he has any of these 45s.
  13. all the photos are stolen from other people's recent auctions, plus the BS about "selling a second copy" is there to somehow make you think that he had the original one when he didn't.
  14. I got one on ebay for $7 about 3 months ago (from seller Jerry Braverman), that doesn't really tell you the "value" though does it, especially if it's not known? It's a nice record, the only good furys on mack iv I've found.
  15. yes it is
  16. Thanks, I couldn't think of the right artist and it was annoying me. I have the tayster 45 but didn't know there was an LP. Any chance of posting a clip of that song?
  17. I think there's like 8 releases on this label. The natural resources is the same group as on dore / dee dee.
  18. I looked in BMI and noticed some rarer northern cuts: betty wright - paralyzed moovers - someone to fulfill my needs there also was that really rare cut "pull an upset", who does this again? It's a solo artist, who I know is Florida. Is it paul sindab?
  19. I assumed the question was not about northern tracks recorded by "clarence reid" but rather well known northern cuts written by reid (e.g. he was a prolific writer, for example, he wrote clean up woman).
  20. yes, this isn't that hard on UA, I like the "it ain't easy" side.
  21. thanks steve!
  22. also, if you want to deal with the time difference, you can now actually listen to my radio station live at www.whpk.org/stream. My show is 7:30-9PM chicago time on Sunday, which is 6 hours behind the UK, so it's sort of inconvenient. However, if you stay up, you might get a chance to actually interact with the people I'm interviewing if you phone in. Next week I'm interviewing Elvin Spencer (although I'm doing a phone interview with him so you wouldn't be able to call him up). When I'm not doing interviews, I play soul music. Thanks.
  23. I have this as an issue and have only seen it as issues before, I think the demo is rarer. It did take me a while to get a copy too but didn't cost me much when I got it.
  24. If you're going to use the UK system, you should note it in your auctions. When I buy from US sellers, I expect VG+ to be clean, and am unpleasantly surprised to later find that they have an EX grade.
  25. for one thing, what is NM-? Never heard of NM- before, it's either NM or VG++.
