  1. That is Jeff Ingersoll, he has many copies of a lot of stuff. He has been doing an auction for many years and recently starting doing ebay. He's not that good at communicating via email but I'm sure he'll send your item, I've bought from his auction many many times with no shipping problems.
  2. I prefer the sweet side too, it's called "I'm gonna miss you". I don't see how this could possibly be the detroit group, though. Besides being a texas label that put out only a few soul records (and mainly put out tex mex stuff), it doesn't even sound like the detroit volumes.
  3. Yeah, I know Syl too, I sent him "do you know what love is" on CD, as he didn't have a recording of it. He said he used to have a box of the records and just threw them away. I do think the voice on the record is similar to his, though. Thanks for the tip about this record being Earl, though.
  4. I just listened to some snippets of earl randle records on manship's site, it does sound like him.
  5. Hey Paul, thanks for the info. Do you have other Earl Randle record to compare? Your explanation does make sense, as I've had songwriter demo acetates of songs that got recorded by others.
  6. Thanks so much to everyone that responded, Chalky came through with an mp3 of the moneytown 45 and a couple of people offered to record it. Now I just need the USA record, if anyone has a recording of that.
  7. The perfections record is very hard, here is a scan:
  8. No, they're definitely not the carpets. The carpets on ViJ and Show me are from kansas city, they have connections to the doowop group on Federal. Even though the mandells, intensions, and carpets do the song "just can't win", there's no connections between the three groups other than being on the same label (owned by Chicagoan George Redman). The Mandells and Intensions are both from the west side of Chicago. I would appreciate an mp3 of either (hopefully both) sides of the USA 45 when you get a chance, I'll thank you when I do eventually do an interview. Thanks.
  9. I'm trying to make a CD for a member of the intensions (on blue light, usa, moneytown, etc.). I have 4 of the 6 45s but could use mp3s of any of the other sides. Here are the 4 tracks I need: Moneytown 1209 - feel so good / i just can't win USA 811 - you say that you love me / she needs somebody I would appreciate any help. I don't need any of the other tracks. They are also the exact same group as the measures and 2 of the 3 guys are jimmy and eddie on one way (I have these and don't need recordings). They also are somehow not the intensions on tiki, despite that also being a west side of chicago record (although I could use a recording of that just to have for myself if someone has it). Also, I'm still looking to purchase a copy of or an mp3 of shirley and the squires on constellation (both sides) for a group member. Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the response, I didn't think people would care about the sweet stuff more than the northern stuff! I will play some obscure sweet (and 70s) things this Sunday and post an mp3 since I got a response to the stuff I posted here. Thanks.
  11. I don't think she was Marc Bolan's girlfriend at the time tainted love was recorded, maybe 10 years later she was. Tainted love came out in 1964.
  12. there was another thread about this guy, he's the guy that ripped off someone else here (Delorenzo?) and stole all his pics from other auctions (e.g. that DAB express from lew stanley)
  13. I got fired back on! Seller sonpau67 banned me from his auctions! Usually his grading is conservative, but his VG is often destroyed (even though his VG+ might be very clean, I don't understand it). I got a destroyed record from him, it was like G and even heat damaged and was graded VG. I used the detailed seller ratings. Next time I tried to bid, it said I was blocked. I emailed him and he said he didn't like the implication that he was a bad grader. I've bought from him since he started selling 45s. The most ridiculous part of the whole thing is that the ratings are totally meaningless, as the best seller will have like 4 1/2 stars for everything and the worst, shadiest seller will have 4 1/4 stars.
  14. the poster already put it on ebay, it's there now. the record is cracked though.
  15. thanks for the feedback.
  16. there's a lot of sellers that have ridiculous things like this. I actually like some of the other items of this seller better. The softones 45 on avco for $60? At least the cashmeres is a valuable record at some level.
  17. I'm not sure what you're referring to, but it's probably a miscommunication of me finding this 45. He sings the same song on the main squeeze backing track. There is a p-vine lp, that people refer to in this thread, where he sings a different song on the main squeeze backing track.
  18. I actually think Nate's version is much better for the song, he sings it more forcefully and it goes better with the uptempo sound. It's cool to have a rarer version of the record though. I wonder how rare it really is (relative to the other press, which is already rare) -- I bet there are some people who have it and just never realized it was different. The funny thing is that now I still need to get a regular Nate Evans on Twinight. Vaguely related, anyone got any of the random non-soul rock titles on Twinight to sell?
  19. I don't usually post non-interview shows, but someone asked me for an mp3 of my weekly radio show so I figured I would also post here as long as I was putting it up. Here is the mp3: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/6-24-2007.mp3 Here is a playlist: Norvells - As I walk alone - Checker Roy Tyson - I want to be your boyfriend - Double L Van McCoy - Ain't no big thing - Rockway Baby Dave Greenbee - bout my baby's love - Steel City Lil Soul Bros - I've got heartaches - D-Town Four Gents - Young Girls Beware - Encore Spiedels - Dream girl - Providence Fabulous Impacs - My baby - Bomb Otis Leaville - Jane Girl - Limelight Rufus Wonder and the Additions - Under the moon - Lando Perfections - Which one am I - Twinight Charades - Darling believe him - Harlem hitparade Pearls - Can I call you baby - Lamp Anna Raye - Will you still be there - Quality Sound Peace Justice and Equality - Of all the hearts - Stone Gold Robert Taylor and Current Stock - Time keeps ticking - LuTall Chilites - There will never be peace - Brunswick Greg Perry - Come on down get your head out of the clouds - Casablanca Procedures - Give me one more chance - Tra-mor Inclinations - Cross my heart - Janus Prime Cut - I'm so glad - Polydor Image - I betcha didn't know - Janus Final Act - Cupid's little helper - Match
  20. here is audio. Even if it isn't Syl (I think the high vocal parts give it away), I don't think it is nate: nateevansalternate.mp3
  21. The flip is the same on my copy. I think there might have been a mixup with the masters or something. This is not the 1978 hi version, the backing track and backing girls are exactly the same as nate evans, just the vocals are just different. Initially I thought it was just Nate Evans singing a different take (it is "weaker" and less forceful sounding). On repeated listens I think it is Syl, though. I will try to post a sound clip. I think the copy that someone mentioned someone playing on the radio must be the same as mine, it would be good to know how rare it is.
  22. I recently found a copy of Nate Evans "Main Squeeze" on Twinight. It looks like all other copies I've seen (it has the colorful label, it also says "DJ Copy" on the label). However, on Main Squeeze, the vocal sounds like a totally different take. I listened a few more times and realized it was a DIFFERENT SINGER and that it sounds like SYL JOHNSON singing the vocals. I called up my friend who has the 45 with Nate singing on it and compared the dead wax. The numbers in his copy on the Main Squeeze side are: A4KM-4317-2. The numbers on my copy of the main squeeze side are: A4KM-4317-1 Has anyone heard of this press with Syl Johnson singing Main Squeeze before? Anyone have this?
  23. I think they have a 45 on Janus. I haven't heard the Janus 45 (saw it on ebay once), but I would guess that they were a rock group that ended up recording a soulish cut (e.g. the mercury record).
  24. they had 3 records on DCP, they all sound exactly the same. "I didn't know what time it was" was the minor hit here in the US.
  25. it's on one of Brenton's double shot LPs, I will try to record it for you later today
