  1. I keep losing this on ebay for $75-$150, it hasn't been up for a while though.
  2. thanks for the feedback. Tonight I'm interviewing Henry Ford (of Henry Ford and the Gifts). I never understood why there wasn't really northern interest in those records given that they are all uptempo. Anyways, if anyone wants to listen LIVE they can at www.whpk.org/stream. You could potentially call in and interact with the person I'm interviewing. It's not very good time for the UK, though, since it's 7:30PM Central Time.
  3. I interviewed the main guy behind the group. The group is actually the CODs, except with Stormy (of Twinight fame) replacing Larry Brownlee. He produced the record himself and first licensed it to international music bag and then Innovation II. My interview is at: www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews.html thanks, Bob
  4. You're right, I got mixed up about the singles. I sent a copy of this video on DVD to a woman who posts on one of the other message boards who was dating George Smith at the time. She said that the steps they're sitting on was George's apartment at the time and all the scenes are from right outside their house.
  5. I have a longer version of this video on a DVD (this one is missing some seconds of footage in parts) that is also better quality. But I don't know how to rip it and put it up on youtube. Random trivia about this 45: this is the last deluxe 45 they had and it came out right AFTER they signed to columbia and had released a columbia record.
  6. the manship guide doesn't really differentiate between groups that have the same name in most cases. They are definitely not the same group. The soul harmony singles book lists another Texas Valentines record on the King Bee label, I don't have the record to compare names with the SS7 though.
  7. I don't know about the mello souls, but the actual Chavis record labels all say Wilmington, Delaware on them.

Apache 2005 - Ripples - Cowgirls to boys / Only time will tell I'm not sure, but I think either Rich Tufo or Floyd Smith or some combination of the two owned the label.
  9. sold quickly, thanks for the responses.
  10. I bought this record on ebay. The record was described as "VG" and it had a sound clip. I just got the record today, it's visually only G+ and has a tight diagonal edge crack that is not separated and is very hard to see (about 1.5cm, most people might not even notice it) and a small lip warp. I never keep cracked records. I hate cracked records. I emailed the seller and he said he would take it back but would not refund my shipping and denied it was cracked before he sent it (it clearly was not cracked in shipping) and said it played VG, which meant it was VG. Anyways, the record actually plays very well (very light crackle audible at the beginning of each side, then I can't hear noise). The warp does not cause any problems on my turntable tracking at 1.5 grams. There is some label wear. As long as I have to waste my time going to the post office to send this back, I thought I would offer this to someone who might actually want it instead of having to eat shipping and deal further with a sleazy seller. This is a nice play copy. This record is listed on JM's "rarest of the rare" if you want to hear it. I would need $40 + $5 shipping to Europe/UK, $2.50 to US if someone wants this, otherwise I'm taking the loss and sending it back to the seller. $40 is less than 20 UK pounds. PM me if interested. Paypal only. Thanks.
  11. I just talked to an artist who just got on the internet for the first time and googled his name. He has an early 80s 45 that wasn't worth anything, he found it for sale on a bunch of sites. He told me he had all the copies since it was never released and got upset and said it was bootlegged. I couldn't explain to him that it didn't make sense that someone would go through the trouble of pressing up his record and making it look exactly like the copied he had...
  12. Thanks for the info. That DC connection makes sense with the "corporation" since it also included Fonce Mizell I think. I'm glad I can cross this one off my list of Chicago groups to try to find to interview (I was worried that this was one more!).
  13. I see Freddie Perrin and Clay Roberts. I know Freddie Perrin was one of "the corporation" -- was he based in detroit when this came out? Who is Clay Roberts?
  14. I found some real label scans on popsike, but only yellow. I've only seen it on ebay or lists as yellow. Stock must be much harder. I like how on the bootleg they changed the publishing company, how stupid is that? I think the publishing on the bootleg must be from the other brunswick label they reused, and they didn't change that part. The reason I originally asked for a scan was that I saw the Bob E. Lee and now think it might be a Chicago group, I never thought it was Chicago before. I've never seen it in Chicago and don't know anyone else in Chicago who has or has found this.
  15. anyone got a real label scan for the record? I've seen it on a yellow brunswick promo, was it ever released as an issue? Thanks.
  16. Look at the numbering on this one. These scans are from the same record, one side says 1202 and the other says 1205:
  17. Thanks a lot, this isn't the henry ford song, but is still a nice cut. Thanks again.
  18. you are the best. I will check this out when I get home and see if it's the same cut (can't listen at work). Thanks so much.
  19. I don't think the SS7 group has connections to any other Valentines group. I could be remembering wrong, but I think the Ludix record is girls (it's not very good, I think I played it once and put it away).
  20. Both songs are covers of the Vontastics, by the way. They said it was just something that was getting play on the radio at the time.
  21. I had an extra copy that was not in great shape that I just threw away like 2 weeks ago. I didn't know anyone wanted this, I just thought it was a local chicago oddity. I will keep my eyes open. TDS stands for "the dud sound" by the way.
  22. Also, the same person that ran this label ran the Betty label, by the way, Betty was the name of the label owner's wife.
  23. It's not very good. I actually have a double somewhere if someone really wants a copy.
  24. I have a lot more titles but would have to dig them up. There definitely are repeated numbers and different label designs.
