  2. also, aren't the pink robby lawson's from pittsburgh?
  3. so does that make the pink copy suspect? There were so many random things bootlegged just in pittsburg.

  5. I always thought it was funny that there was that sam + kitty song "please don't hit on me". Like based on the title (at least in today's meaning), it would be about flirting or something. But it's about how she wants him to stop BEATING her!
  6. I did not know it was the uniques, thanks for the info. I still have to ask that guy about the turnarounds photo for you, I will get back to you.

I have a demo on LANDO, pretty sure it's an original press. Will try to post a scan if you care.
  8. haha, I can't tell if you're making fun of me for buying that, but I haven't gotten it yet. Ronn is a random label to collect for me, especially because they put out so much weird chicago stuff. Plus my friend is really into chipmunk-style novelty records, so I figured I could give it to him if it didn't work out.
  9. Now that someone else mentioned tangerine, the photo was a Tangerine publicity photo and not a minit one. I will try to email the seller to see if he has more (he listed it at least twice). The deville 45 I have says on it: The Turnarounds (Jewel Akens and Terry Evans) I'm pretty sure the tangerine photo came with a promo sheet, and in the auction you could also read that the sheet said Jewel Akens and Terry Evans. I never knew about the Terry and the Tyrants connection. Thanks.
  10. Tommy Neal posted a few times to the soulfuldetroit forum, by the way. Don't know if he's still there, someone could try asking there.
  11. I know they are listed separately in the group soul book, but all the turnarounds (minit, era, and deville) are the same group. At least some of the records are a duo of Jewel Akens and another singer, I can't remember who right now, but there might be more members on some of the other 45s. There was a publicity photo on ebay a few times of just the duo, I think it said minit records, but both members names are on the deville 45s too. I think they also have a record on a 4th label that I can't remember right now.
  12. Mill Street Depo is on Stang, not turbo. Jimmy Mayes, leader of the Mill Street Depo, knew Al Goodman from back in Jackson, MS where Al was a member of the Carvettes. 1. moments - To you with love (this came out twice, both as b-sides, one is a horrible studio outtake sounding thing with no group and the other is totally excellent) 2. whatnauts - try me 3. spoilers - sad man's land on turbo (totally different than the tobin record) 4. We Three ltd. on astroscope (ultra-rare record) 5. Ponderosa twins - bound - astroscope 6. Young ladies on stang 7. prophecy - nya on all platinum 8. optimistics - should I let myself go - turbo 9. Linda Jones - for your precious love - Turbo 10. Willie and the mighty magnificents - make me your slave - all platinum 11. Equations - oh you sweet darlin - all platinum.
  13. Thanks for the feedback. You can actually listen live if you want every Sunday 7:30-9PM at www.whpk.org/stream If you pm me, I can send you a link to some more music shows, plus there are a lot of interviews with chicago groups on my site. Thanks.
  14. there is (or at least was) a large amount of stock of this floating around
  15. I need this record to fill a twinight #. I have not heard it but I assume it's a crappy rock record (please let me know if it's not). Just looking for a copy to fill in the hole. Thanks.
  16. thanks again for the feedback
  17. the lancers - doing the snatch - blue rock
  18. Here is a link to the show and the playlist. Please PM with me with your email if you want me to add you to my email list announcing shows and interviews, or if you want links to some previous shows. Thanks. https://www.sittinginthepark.com/8-26-2007.mp3 Cinderellas - Mr. Happy love-joy - Mercury Ribbons - After last night - Marsh Barbara and the Delights - She's a smooth one - UA Varetta and the Thomases - Breaking hearts - Brent Baby Washington - let love go by - ABC Deanie Parker + Valadors - My imaginary guy - Volt Kitty Love - the power of love - Dade Priscilla Thomas - Step aside - Winner Mickey McCullers - Same old story - Tamla Tran-sisters - Somebody's blue - Imperial Greg Perry - Love control - Chess Carl Hall - Is your love coming or going - Mercury Linda Carr and the love squad - High wire - Roxsbury Forth Session - Would you love me too? - Jayville Compacts - Why can't it be - Carla Fabulous Filtrations - Wait till I find her - D-Clef Herman George - It breaks me up inside - Nimrod Sons of darkness - How much I love you - P+P Day-tons - A broken heart - Dayon Dells - Give your baby a standing ovation - Chess Moments - I do - Stang Joy - Thank you - GSF Black Ivory - Will we ever come together - Buddah Spring - Look to me baby - IX Chains
  19. no, it's not the same song, but it's the same type of novelty song. doowop collectors know that song, but soul collectors know the much better 'be yourself' side.
  20. actually I remember doing a web one of the times it was up recently and hitting your website. It's funny, sometimes I web search odd records I see on ebay and only your radio show comes up. Is the ballad side any good? Thanks.
  21. that pinball machine looks sort of cool though... never seen that one.
  22. I went to his bar in Nola when he was still around, I think he had the LP on the wall. The only time I've ever seen it!
  23. Hi Fi records is closed by the way.
  24. this was on ebay once or twice recently but I didn't bid because I didn't know if it was any good (and I think that there are even white things on that label). I can't even remember what it went for either. not much help, huh?
