  1. I guess what I was trying to say is that 4-figure record should be extremely rare, something that doesn't turn up in real collections except very infrequently. There are some records that really never ever turn up in collections (I mean the collections of people who bought records in the 60s) but which aren't worth anything because stock is around. If stock wasn't around, those would be true 4-figure rarities to me. I was just saying that I think the danny moore did turn up in collections independent of stock being found. I think it's what NetSpeaky said -- that ebay has made it much clearer which records are "truly" rare or not. Of course it's also supply and demand, though, which sort of makes my point moot (for example, I think the Cashmeres on Hem has had stock around in the past and got some radio play in DC, but still remains a 4-figure record due to northern demand).
  2. I still think this one is strange because beat up copies come up for sale out of Detroit too. I think in addition to those boxes coming up, it also must be a case of the record not being incredibly rare in the first place. There are other records that are not worth money because there are boxes of them around, but finding them in the actual US cities is impossible, which would make them genuinely rare if stock wasn't available.
  3. The acetate is of a released USA 45 that is cheaper than $50, though. I didn't listen to check if it was an alternate version. Ernie Hines is a super-nice guy, he records gospel now. He is one of the writers on the Lovelites 45 on Bandera.
  4. probably Dionne Warwick, given the sonday release, since that was her label. The constellations backed Dionne touring (they left Chicago and went west), which is how they ended up on sonday.
  5. Hi Sunnysoul, there are a lot of 70s US Chess presses that look just like the one in the picture, I doubt it's a UK press with the hole punched out. I can't explain exactly why it was pressed though. Love Reputation was a hit in Chicago, but I always find it on the Green (and occassionally blue) Tarpon label, never ever see it on Chess here.
  6. second try on this, no responses the first time.
  7. They are from Gary, which is near Chicago but not exactly Chicago. Jim Porter was only involved with the erect stuff since he ran that label, he was not involved with their previous recordings. Rob already linked my interview with a member of the group if you want to hear an actual group member talk about who all the members are and where they are from. https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews/ind-8-19-2007.mp3
  8. GENIUS! I know a few places I need to try this at (I first need to set up a gemm account). Record stores that won't price stuff upfront are the WORST, they're the total museum stores that no one will ever buy from. Pricing off of Gemm.com is ridiculous, prices are MORE than 10x the realistic price on many things.
  9. Thanks. Who is Jerry Harris? Can you easily recognize his voice when he's singing falsetto? I'm glad someone appreciated the clip, I thought everone thought it was crappy with the lack of response. If anyone wants to hear it and doesn't know it, I can post a clip of the spoilers on turbo, which in my opinion is the 2nd best all platinum ballad (WAY better than the tobin record, which somehow doesn't even sound like the same group singing).
  10. Thanks again for the feedback. I'm going to try to put up a webpage soon linking all of the shows I've been posting with playlists. Eventually I might even go back and post all or some of the shows I've done in the previous 5 years before I had a website. Thanks.
  11. I've seen that on records before. Sometimes labels will do the catalog number per the entire record and sometimes it will be per-side. If they reuse the exact side, I've seen the catalog number on a side reused. I didn't think the copy looked fake, plus it at least looks like a reputable seller with high feedback.
  12. thanks for the info
  13. Here is a playlist and link to my most recent radio show. PM me if you want links to older shows or if you want me to add your email to my announcement list. Next week I have an interview scheduled with the Conservatives, who are also the Teacher's Edition on Hi. The week after that I have an interview scheduled with the Enchanting Enchanters. 14. can someone post a soundclip?
  15. There are a bunch of LPs on the label, including more than one weapons of peace LP. There just was a thread here about the sharon cash LP.
  16. NW stands for northwestern united states, which is meaningful to early garage collectors that care about the sonics and the wailers for example.
  17. Hi Juddy. It's hard to tell if you got ripped off on a record without knowing what you paid for it! None of the lovations 45 are really worth anything except "later baby" which has become expensive recently (it always was the hardest one to find though). Excellent group though, "la la la ooh" is one of my favorite records (actually a philly group, despite recording on a DC label). You know that Eruptions is Pittsburgh, right? Sam VAL label as the stereos and george goodman and the headliners. That one you got is like a blue-eyed garagey thing.
  18. their big US rock hit "the rapper" was on kama sutra, it was their only hit record
  19. It's not smokey, though, right? It's the billy griffin miracles, Smokey left by that point. Anyways, I don't think it's on 45 because people here keep posting it on the "LP-only tracks" thread.
  20. Thanks. If you or anyone else wants to be put on my weekly email list where I mail out links to the MP3s or if you want mp3s of the older shows I've posted, pm me with your email address. Thanks.
  21. "somewhere" is one of the all time great sweet soul 45s

I have a symphonics with very torn labels, but the vinyl is very clean if you are interested. I was hoping to get a trade, though.
  23. there is a 3rd record on chi-heat by willie dee. chi-heat was distributed by ICA so LV was already on ICA when doing the chi-heat record.
  24. I will dig up the liner notes from the j/g cd when I get home later and post the info. it has a fantastic unreleased ethics cut on it also.
  25. I don't think they are the same group (the new J/G ethics cd has more info I think, I don't have it in front of me). I think the collectable reissued the springers stuff on the same CD because they were on the same tapes -- e.g. they mistakenly put them as ethics tracks on the ethics cd.
