  1. I just talked to an artist who just got on the internet for the first time and googled his name. He has an early 80s 45 that wasn't worth anything, he found it for sale on a bunch of sites. He told me he had all the copies since it was never released and got upset and said it was bootlegged. I couldn't explain to him that it didn't make sense that someone would go through the trouble of pressing up his record and making it look exactly like the copied he had...
  2. Thanks for the info. That DC connection makes sense with the "corporation" since it also included Fonce Mizell I think. I'm glad I can cross this one off my list of Chicago groups to try to find to interview (I was worried that this was one more!).
  3. I see Freddie Perrin and Clay Roberts. I know Freddie Perrin was one of "the corporation" -- was he based in detroit when this came out? Who is Clay Roberts?
  4. I found some real label scans on popsike, but only yellow. I've only seen it on ebay or lists as yellow. Stock must be much harder. I like how on the bootleg they changed the publishing company, how stupid is that? I think the publishing on the bootleg must be from the other brunswick label they reused, and they didn't change that part. The reason I originally asked for a scan was that I saw the Bob E. Lee and now think it might be a Chicago group, I never thought it was Chicago before. I've never seen it in Chicago and don't know anyone else in Chicago who has or has found this.
  5. anyone got a real label scan for the record? I've seen it on a yellow brunswick promo, was it ever released as an issue? Thanks.
  6. Look at the numbering on this one. These scans are from the same record, one side says 1202 and the other says 1205:
  7. Thanks a lot, this isn't the henry ford song, but is still a nice cut. Thanks again.
  8. you are the best. I will check this out when I get home and see if it's the same cut (can't listen at work). Thanks so much.
  9. I don't think the SS7 group has connections to any other Valentines group. I could be remembering wrong, but I think the Ludix record is girls (it's not very good, I think I played it once and put it away).
  10. Both songs are covers of the Vontastics, by the way. They said it was just something that was getting play on the radio at the time.
  11. I had an extra copy that was not in great shape that I just threw away like 2 weeks ago. I didn't know anyone wanted this, I just thought it was a local chicago oddity. I will keep my eyes open. TDS stands for "the dud sound" by the way.
  12. Also, the same person that ran this label ran the Betty label, by the way, Betty was the name of the label owner's wife.
  13. It's not very good. I actually have a double somewhere if someone really wants a copy.
  14. I have a lot more titles but would have to dig them up. There definitely are repeated numbers and different label designs.
  15. I appreciate the response, I have that recording, I actually need a recording of the flip of the record, I think it's called "teardrops". I've been told it's a cover of Henry Ford and the Gifts on Roulette. Can anyone help? Thanks again.
  16. At one point I bought 10 copies of the book off of one of the authors, just to give away to groups that I interviewed. They were so excited to see their records somewhere. They went quickly though and I wasn't able to get any more. Everyone I gave one to told all their friends and they all wanted one.
  17. I'll record both sides of the hard dc international 45 when I get home (the funky side is also pretty good). By the way, I had a double of it that I traded to your guy Dyson, so if you or someone else needs one, Dyson might still have one. Thanks.
  18. I have all the other ones mentioned (the dontee, 2 dc international, and lasalle 45s) but probably don't have time to record them all! Is there a specific one you want to hear more? Thanks.
  19. I've never seen that. Can you post a scan or audio clip? I'm interested to hear it. Thanks.
  20. I didn't actually see the label, I was just commenting what was in the soul harmony singles book. I thought you were saying that the book says it was released in 1959. I looked it the book and it didn't list a release date. Sorry if I was not understanding you correctly. Thanks.
  21. The Lasalle group is a different group (probably Chicago, Billy McGregor produced it). However, the pouland group is probably the same as the dc international (why do people keep saying united international?) and dontee group. The pouland record is from baltimore. Thanks.
  22. I just looked, it doesn't have any date on the release (it's listed at the end of the listings where they list the ones they don't know the date for).
  23. Someone told me that the flip of Sugar and the Spices "have faith in me" is a cover of Henry Ford and the gifts "teardrops are falling." I would like to get a recording of this to give to Henry Ford. Can anyone help out with this? Thanks.
  24. I never knew there was another version of this record. Anyone got a soundclip of the lee tillman version? The atlantic record also came out on q-city, by the way (rare carolinas local issue).
  25. yes, it's a nice 70s remake of the song.
