  1. I'm 100% sure this has been booted as a doowop boot, but I'm not sure how to tell the difference, it does look similar to the original.
  2. Baby be mine didn't come with an instr. flip, but the sweet soul side "when we first met" came out as the Blendors with an instr. flip. Thanks.
  3. I got this on ebay like a month or two ago for $10 and kept missing it for around that price too.
  4. also, the little oscar is pressed slightly off center, but it plays fine (I didn't center it for the recording at all).
  5. Audio of the weaker graded Valentinos: valentinos.mp3 Audio of Little Oscar: littleoscar.mp3
  6. I have 3 45s for sale: 1. Valentinos - Sweeter than the Day Before on Chess Record is a very clean VG (US grading), very shiny with only a few scuffs and a mark on the "sweeter" side. There is a mild dish warp that is guaranteed not to affect play. $145 2. Valentinos - Sweeter than the Day Before on Chess: Record is a VG, shiny with some scuffing, plays as well as the other copy. There is an almost unnoticable dish warp that definitely won't affect play. $120 3. Little Oscar - Empty Bottles on Palos. Record is a weak VG to VG-. Record is very shiny with some scuffing, still nice. Plays great. There is the start of a tiny chip in the center hole (see pic), it's hard to notice but you can see it in the pic I think. $120 Shipping to US is $3, Overseas is $6. Paypal only. Audio clips to follow. It may take me half a day to respond to your PMs as I won't have internet access for a while tomorrow. Thanks for looking.
  7. I think trading on here is a good idea and I've done it. I'm not sure about a seperate section, though, because most of the times I've traded it's been for people's sale items. Most people selling are open to trade since they're selling to get other records. Having a separate section would just mean two places to look.
  8. This came on white promo, yellow, and green. The green credits "tracy neil" on one side of the record but it is the exact same recording from the exact same plates. All 3 are legit.
  9. isn't the ruby and the romantics record "twilight time" ... a totally different song?
  10. You're thinking of the calvin golden on the plain red aquarius James Lately was NOT in the domestic five, by the way, contrary to what has been posted around. Steve, Andy Dyson won the last domestic five on ebay, he might still have it if you ask him. It was clean too.
  11. Hi Jaco. Greg Tormo's webpage says something about Roz Ryan winning a talent contest for her recording contract: https://solidhitsoul.com/volt.html Just speculation, I think it might be the Dramatics singing on the record. I will PM you about the other record. Thanks.
  12. I think either the Japanese CD is wrong or maybe there are common group members at best, but that they are not the exact same group. Does the Japanese CD include lineups or any other evidence, or does it just say that they're the same group? Thanks.
  13. Thanks. I mentioned this somewhere here before, but that's Terry Thompson, cousin of Marshall Thompson, singing lead on that track. On all other Marlynns tracks is Sheryl Henry singing lead, she's the person who sings "we're on the right track" for the South Shore Commission (so it's not "male group harmony" as some people state). Thanks.
  14. I don't know either, I've actually only ever seen it on J-V. Ra bra was owned by Gene Ammons, I think. Besides a bunch of Gene Ammons 45s, the only other record I know on the label is by the Allusions (Gary group who were also the Swinging Allusions).
  15. this came on the blue and white vee jay label and the older style black label. i have on the black label and the vinyl is fine on that (not for sale, just commenting). Obviously it also came out on Wee. Thanks.
  16. Does anyone have this record (the second reflection 45 on wand) or a soundclip of either side? Does it definitely exist? I'm interested in hearing it. Thanks.
  17. 18. Sean, are you saying that the Enchanted Five are the same group as the Ultimates on Br-roma? I've never heard of that. My friend found one of the members by accident, Donny Scales. Donny said that he was also in the Segments of Time on Sussex (and he has a really nice gospel soul record on gloryland) but he didn't mention the ultimates on Br-roma.
  19. I've seen it on ebay once, but I agree, it's very hard and I've never found one in Chicago.
  20. Thanks, I just noticed that the Big Top group members were in the soul harmony singles book. Are you guys totally sure that the congress group is the UK VIPs? I looked at allmusic.com and there is a CD called "the complete VIPs" that is 28 tracks and supposedly includes all their records from all labels. It doesn't include either congress side. Also, none of the names listed as the group members match the names on the record, which are Jay Darrow and a last name Gluck. Thanks.
  21. This is not funk brothers related at all. One side of the record vocal with girls backing. This group (which was a band with singers) was the same group from Ohio as Little Joe and the Moroccos and the Moroccos on Pork, etc. My friend talked to a member of the group (who has sinced passed) who told him that they recorded a couple of 'unreleased' cuts for motown and told my friend the titles that are on the rare, but actually released motown 45. It's been on ebay a few times in the past few years. I know someone who has one but wants $150 for it, I got mine cheap the last time it was on ebay.
  22. Does anyone have any information about this group -- where they are from, members, etc.? Also, I would like to know if anyone can actually confirm that the Congress group and Big Top group are the same. They are listed together in the soul harmony singles book and are from around the same time. But the big top group clearly has at least one woman singing and it doesn't sound like any women are on the VIP record. Also, the VIP record is more "white" sounding to me (still a nice cut). There are no common names across the VIP / Big Top records but that doesn't mean much because the Big Top records are all Baum/Kaye names so they don't have the names of any real group members. you pulled a fast one / flashback got play here in Chicago (and Honey and the Bees even covered "you pulled a fast one"). Thanks.
  23. no, I've seen the innersvisions a lot too, I would have to pull out the records to see which ones. I also have the wales wallace as Sir Wales Wallace and just Sir Wales
  24. I'm sure there is something else to do besides looking for records, I just wouldn't know what that is. I'd be the guy looking for records in Hawaii.
