  1. it's definitely the same singer, btw
  2. still need this
  3. BTW, Symphonics sold on ebay about 6 months ago for $200, I almost bid to upgrade my copy with the messed up labels. I actually have my OTHER copy with the labels even more torn if someone wants to trade for it, the labels are almost unreadable but the vinyl is very clean, at least VG++ (US grading)
  4. I had a double-show on Sunday -- I subbed for the doowop show before me and then did my regular show. Since I don't really know much about doowop, I played early 60s transitional soul. I separated out the two shows so you can listen independently. The two shows are here: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/10-28-2007-DOOWOP.mp3 https://www.sittinginthepark.com/10-28-2007.mp3 I'm out this coming weekend but in two weeks I'll be doing an interview with the lead of the excellent Chicago group the Mystics who cut the record "that's the kind of love." 5. "reed settings"? Brass instruments don't have reeds, maybe the only 'horn' with a reed is a saxophone.
  6. I agree with Rod in general about prices, but specifically re: Symphonics, that record is impossible to find in Chicago, if it really is available it's because all the copies were exported to the UK. I found it twice in Chicago, and the label was torn both times. I'm just saying that unlike some other overpriced "hot" records that even got play in the US (e.g. ace spectrum) and where copies will always be avilable, that won't happen with the Symphonics. All copies for sale will come from people's existing UK collections.
  7. Those 3 are the only black ones. Eddie Thomas and Curtis owned the label. I think that 8545 is an unreleased delfonics cut. The delfonics were supposed to be on curtom and I heard some story about how Marv Stuart offended them by making a joke about eating pork or something (they were muslim). This is all gossip of course... I don't know if it was supposed to be the 8545 # but I DO know that they actually recorded a record (the people who wrote it tell me they have a recording of it somewhere). Either way, 8545 is definitely unreleased. Also, supposedly they were going to try to get the Jackson 5 before Motown but they didn't because they already had a kiddie group.
  8. popsike is probably your best bet
  9. I have it with the name unchanged on mine, I've seen it a few times, maybe half one way and half the other. Thanks.
  10. I know, I'm saying that I don't know if the group is from Georgia or the Carolinas because they have records on both Georgia and Carolians labels. Their records are all listed on the georgia and carolinas website and my friend even knows the label owner of one of the georgia labels that they were on...
  11. Ebonystic and hearts of fire are the same group. They had a couple of modern 45s on other labels, that is the first one, the others are from around 1980 so they are later. I forget now if the group is from Georgia and the Carolinas because they had records on labels from both places. I think maybe Georgia. The flip of the record you got, "Married to one in love with another" is great sweet soul, check it out.
  12. The boot is low fidelity so it sounds sort of different, which is why some people might think it's different (when it's not).
  13. ok cool, I knew of that one (I have that dynamic concepts) but wasn't thinking of it. I don't know if I've ever seen that coasters, though, thanks for the info.
  14. If northern / modern people start getting into it the value might go up... I can only comment on the market I know... It was already rare / valuable though. I've seen it only a few times on ebay in the last 5 years, I got my copy from Lew Stanley's list once. Thanks.
  15. nice sweet soul on the flip -- to be my friend -- mainly known by japanese collectors. Usually goes for $200-$300. It's ohio by the way.
  16. are you sure? what records were on the pittsburgh label? I know that all the black circle titles listed above are the same label at least. Thanks.
  17. It likely a girl. Any evidence that it's actually Jackie Moore, though? Thanks.
  18. Thanks for the info, my "decade" comment was about the RJ records which are like mid-80s, aren't they (aren't there 2 different 11th commandments on RJ)? I have the chess and fast track 45s, but not the RJ ones. Is the flip of the fast track any good? I only have it as a promo. Thanks.
  19. which Topics LP? The topics on Token have an LP and the mercury group have that TSG Lp
  20. The one that you have (which is a vocal / inst) is a totally different take and much rarer than the one that lotusland found (which is already rare). The one lotusland found has a better side though ("something's got to be wrong with my baby"). It sounds like both sides were recorded in a basement. The one you got is of better recording quality. Also, on all the copies I've seen of the one with both sides, the artist name is the "Dezilles" and on most copies the Z is crossed out and changed to a V. It's correct on your press.
  21. unfortunately, the price guide too often sets the value instead of reporting it
  22. What I tried to write was that the FADS recently (a few days ago actually) sold on ebay in VG++ (US) condition for $130. However, it very rarely comes up. I recently paid $250 for a copy after waiting a while for it to go through ebay (of course it came up right after I bought it). Manship had one on his site for a while for 300 pounds, don't know what happened to it. So there you have the whole spectrum of prices on it. It definitely does not come up often. I think $250 is a realistic price to sell it for (that is just my opinion of course). Thanks.
  23. what's the tarpon demo? Is that a white label or does it just say DJ copy on it?
  24. I scanned it for you, it's spelled "Jacky" which is one of the reasons I assumed it was a boy:
