  1. It's a sort of garage-y version of the song. Why ruin a good original? Is any version going to be better than Tyrone's? random fact: the backing group on the original is Barbara Acklin + the Visitors.
  2. I hate this version, but there is a version by an arizona group called the majestics on a black label, I forget the label right now, it's late 70s.
  3. I'm bumping this one time because I think there's some good stuff here and I don't want people to miss the show... sorry for the shameless promotion!
  4. I swear, everybody who ever was in a group in the US thinks this movie is about them, they're like "our story was just like that!"
  5. I'm not making any profit, I'm losing money and not recouping my full losess. You're not considering my shipping costs (stated in the auction) and my paypal fees (when the new buyer pays me). Also, the biggest seller here buys mainly on ebay to resell at a profit, which I'm not doing. Record is on hold now, by the way.

  7. Thanks so much everyone for your help!!!!!!!!! ps. this isn't ultra rare, I see it for sale sometimes but it's always trashed...
  8. I just got this record on ebay. It has an inner stress crack that goes from the center of the vinyl to near the edge. The crack is not separated, but it is visible on both sides of the record. The seller refuses to take the record back (he claims the crack was not there because he inspected the record with a magnifying glass before he sent it). I buy lesser condition records but not cracked records. I would like to resell this at my cost to recoup my loss. The record is a decent play copy. Visually it is about G, it has decent gloss. Both sides have some gouges near the start of the record -- they are not deep (barely feelable) but they are wide enough to call gouges and they cause clicking at the start of both tracks. I included a full mp3 of the amazing love side and a part mp3 of the funk side so you can hear for yourself. The labels are also dirty, but are not marked up or torn. This would be a decent copy for someone who doesn't care about cracks like I do. I would need $100 for this plus $6 shipping to Europe or $3 shipping to the US. PM me if interested. Attached are audio samples. Thanks for your interest. jamesbell_a.mp3 jamesbell_b.mp3
  9. Hi. I don't understand your response. Anyways, it's on a CD called "wheelsville wonders" that is not in print and a total bootleg anyways. if you know someone selling the CD so I can let this guy know, I will. It's not available on the web anywhere I can find. Thanks.
  10. Haha, I thought you would come through on this one. A web search reveals it was on some goldmine CD too. I will contact the detroit collectors who will probably have one, I appreciate your effort! THanks.
  11. can anyone help me out with an mp3 of this track? Another sweet soul collector asked me for this and I'm trying to help them out. Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi. Where are you getting these dates from? I think that the record definitely sounds later than 1962. Thanks.
  13. I don't know the fabuletts or klicky on mode. I think Etah was the same label, though, and there's a bunch of stuff on that. I definitely think there's at least one other mode thing I know I'm not thinking of, I think it was a single artist thing...
  14. This is a common record on Venture at least, not worth much. Is it on US MGM?
  15. The barons have different label designs that the jades at least. One of the barons on mode came out on shout also. The jades on mode are the same group as the enticers on cotillion.
  16. thanks a lot
  17. I personally don't like summertime that much, but I think a large percentage of the American population would disagree with you, as it was his biggest hit, or at least is the one that still gets played on the radio, next to sitting in the park.
  18. Last Sunday I interviewed the Mystics on Teako, a hispanic group from the Pilsen neighborhood on the near Southwest side of Chicago. The Mystics cut one of the best sweet soul records to come out of Chicago -- That's the Kind of Love. The flip of the record is a version of the northern soul classic "I really love you." You can listen to the interview on my webpage: www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews.html thanks, Bob
  19. I've heard of that one
  20. Although I AM a genius, I would have gotten it as Leonard Adeair had I heard it. The other leonard adeair 45 on one way is fantastic though. I have at least one lyn collins record that has this annoying overdub, like this DJ speaking over the record, on the record, with loud annoying 70s DJ rap.
  21. I'm not at a computer with speakers so I can't hear this, but all these comments make it sound like Doris Smith on Limelight, I can't believe people can listen to that with Andre Williams' loud rambling over the track.
  22. I do love you has the awesome album only cut "I'm no romeo." I think only on the greatest hits album is his awesome cover of the knight brothers' temptation.

    Dontells

this is on the local chicago ambassador label, it's a cover of the baby washington song.
  24. In my opinion the best fabulous denos cut by far is "once i had a love" on king.
  25. I'm 100% billy on my 45 shelves, it looks good, you will have to buy a couple extra shelves with it to get about 9" spacing on each one.
