  1. No, although one of the members (who actually died a few weeks ago -- Greg Magee) told my friend that there was a connection, but there's not a connection (there are no common members). They did evolve into Raw Umber on Virginia though, and one of the guys was the second drummer for the sons of slum. The twinight 45 actually did come out on another label as the mystics on orr, but that's even rarer than the mystiques. I'm interviewing one of Mystique on Curtom on my show tomorrow, Fred Simon, who was also in the Lost Generation, I guess I will specifically ask him also during the interview.
  2. I have a SEALED original copy of an ann sexton LP "the beginning" on sound stage 7, there is a corner cut and very slight dirt under some of the shrink, it looks like a very nice copy overall though (I haven't opened it though). Someone can pm me an offer if they are looking for that.
  3. I forgot about that, but that's not a boot, it's a legitimate reissue.
  4. no way does that record exist -- unless someone can produce I scan, I'm assuming it's just more misinformation from that book.
  5. this is not booted or on an LP. It does exist as both a white label promo and a blue issue though.
  6. He isn't general crook. Either way, I think all these problems actually come over not only confusion as to how record collectors work but also confusion over the internet. One person called me up to complain to me about how some site in scandanavia was "linked" to my site, like we were making money together or something. In the past, if people saw their name or record in the media (e.g. on the radio), it meant that many people were buying or hearing their record. Now if one person mentions a person's name on his private webpage that 2 people have seen, it comes up in a google search. People new to the internet don't understand the nature of the internet and assume that if one person has one copy of a record for sale, that actually means they are some sort of distributor or something due to the fact that it has somehow come up publicly in the media.
  7. I think she looks white but maybe tanned in that one photo. It's hard to be sure though. Thanks.
  8. I pm'ed you about this, but I think that he thinks that you bootlegged his 45 since it was never officially distributed. Artists don't understand what happens to their records after they're pressed and dumped 20 years later. I think you should explain to him that you only have one copy and that no one has repressed or bootlegged this specific 45 (obviously that is not the case for certain other records). You could even offer to pay the 9.1 cents mechanical royalty (or whatever the statutory rate is now) if you ever sell it, even though as Rob explained, he's not really due that either and I'm sure he didn't send anyone 8 cents per song when he probably sold his LPs to a used record store in the 90s or whenever... Also, he's probably going to find this thread given that he's actively googling his name, so maybe he will sign up here and give his opinion of what he thinks you did.

  10. I just googled this for you and learned something myself. I love the hair: https://www.angelfire.com/ok2/musiclink/pau...n/vegatrio.html
  11. I think the yellow boots have better sound quality than the pink ones, which sound horrible.
  12. That's just an alternate (original?) label of the first release. There is an actual 3rd release they had from the 70s on a label called "both sides". One side is a remake of get yourself together and the other side is a nice funky cut called "I want to know" (either that or I gotta know, I might be not exactly remembering the title wrong).
  13. Doowop collectors probably valued it at $500-$800, but that was before there was a soul demand I guess. You know Arthur Conley was in the group, I think it's him singing lead but I'm not sure.
  14. It is donald jenkins and bob catron. I did play this during my interview too, and you can hear all the girls tell their entire story... www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews.html
  15. I don't think that's an accurate analogy (for many reasons). Plus, given that feedback is pretty much pointless now since almost no one will leave negatives due to retaliatory feedback (which is the whole motivation for the change), your analogy would be like "if you government decides to withdraw the vote from half the population given the vote means absolutely nothing right now." I have dealt with some very bad sellers that have had 100% feedback. It's true that some sellers will now get unfair negatives when they shouldn't, but overall the entire meaning of feedback will change -- no one will have 100% but it will be apparent who the really bad people are by how low the real percentage is. In fact, currently much negative feedback to decent sellers comes from unstable people who are just crazy and might be unwarranted now -- more warranted negatives will balance those out more.
  16. Dazz, they also recorded as the trinkets on that label and are the little foxes on okeh.
  17. I almost exclusively buy and consistently deal with shady sellers so I'm in favor of it. Does negative feedback to buyers really help you that much as a seller? You might see someone after the bidding is over that you're suspicious about, I guess. I don't think it helps that much though.
  18. I responded to your question when you asked it after my interview -- this 45 is hard to find and not known. As to knowing anything about the group, there's an entire interview of them talking about themselves if you care ... Thanks.
  19. If you look at too many things on popsike it does make you register, maybe now they are trying to charge? I don't know how it tracks you. If it is via IP, you can try a different computer. If it is via a cookie, you could just try deleting your cookies and looking again (I guess you should do that first).
  20. haha, fan-made videos to songs are always funny but that is the most over the top one I have ever seen. The best is the transition he keeps using where the screen rolls up into a ball then splits in half and moves away.
  21. I don't know if this has been discussed here already, but I just found out that ebay is changing feedback so that only buyers can leave neutral or negatives (sellers can only leave positives for buyers or no feedback at all). This is to counter the fact that feedback is pretty much pointless now due to retaliatory feedback. Also, they're going to make only the feedback for the last 12 months count toward your score. I'm now excited to see some ultra-shady sellers feedback from from 99% to 50% -- one example would be seller treazureisland1 I don't know what other people's opinions are, but it will be much clearer who the decent ebay sellers are after this change.
  22. Every single person in Chicago who was in a group who is performing now is in a motown tribute group. It's funny, they'll introduce themselves by which temptation they play (like "I'm eddie kendricks!"). Occasionally they'll be one of the four tops, but rarely. If you see some tribute group somewhere and it's some older guys, you should always go up to the older guys and ask if they sang in a group in the 60s or 70s.
  23. I always really liked this LP as an LP. The best track by far for me is "just as long as we're in love", and maybe none of the other tracks stand out as much by themselves, but I always liked listening to this as an LP (maybe more than other Dells Lps, which may have contained individually stronger songs), and I like the interludes too... Of course I don't listen to Lps anymore and have the attention span of like half a minute now that I only collect singles, I'll play a record halfway through and take it off...
  24. I know it came out on the US, this was a hit in Chicago and this still gets played on the radio (yes, I'm talking about the 60s version). That's why I'm confused about it selling for so much. I find the record pretty frequently, although it's one that tends to always be beat up and play with some styrene distortion, I rarely find it clean. I never thought it would be a $50+ record. Thanks.
  25. I just saw this sell on ebay for over $50 (the 60s version of "who's that lady" on united artists). It wasn't even a US issue, it was canadian. Is this in demand or something?
