  1. the "I still love you" superlatives is not the same group, that group is from the east coast, the "don't walk away" group is from detroit
  2. Dave, one of the group members told my friend about the symbol release, I will ask my friend to find out which group member told him, but one guy definitely specifically remembered that release. The record sounds earlier than the other ones, one side is called "you're cute" and the other side is called "I'll get you yet". Writer on "you're cute" is Mel Harris. Writer on "I'll get you yet" is A. Himons. Maybe this was not the time they recorded with Juggy (I assumed it was because of his affiliation with sue / symbol /etc.) but it was released probably in the early 60s. I will post a scan later today when I get home. You can hear the audio in refosoul, I previously posted both songs. Thanks.
  3. Dave, you're wrong about the 'nothing became of this', they released a record on Symbol, I posted audio in the media thread. My scanner is working again, I can post the scans of the 45s with the group members names on it if you don't believe me.
  4. they did the soundtrack to a 3-D black action movie that came out in the 80s, I never checked whether it was available on DVD or not.
  5. impala is definitely rarer, I think people are just starting to put it up for sale more as it's somehow the 'rarest of the rare' now while the other one was never 'rare'. maybe the stock dried up of the other one and they're becoming more comparable in rarity, who knows.
  6. My friend recently talked to this group, they were a california band and group, (I can post a photo I have somewhere), they are actually the doowop group on Ava and have 2 45s and an LP from the 80s. The 45 you have is an okay but unknown group funk piece, maybe a $40 record, their other 45 is a soul crooner type thing from a movie soundtrack. I don't know what the one on manship's website sold for.
  7. I thought that was the one you were talking about but wasn't sure because Lew Stanley had one he kept trying to move on ebay for like $499 starting bid and never got bids on it (he might have sold it eventually).
  8. So do people in this thread know how to DO the tighten up? Apparently one of the lamest dances ever actually. My friend saw archie bell at ponderosa stomp a few years ago, he demonstrated the dance. To do the tighten up you just have to sort of squat and make a motion with your right hand like you're tightening up a screwdriver, and then you can do anything with your legs. THAT'S LIKE THE LAMEST DANCE I'VE EVER HEARD OF. Someone showed me how they did it in chicago, instead of squatting you put their arms out to sides parallel to the ground and do a tightenting up motion with both hands at the same time while slowly walking left and right. Still ultra-lame but less lame than the original. How that dance goes with the music I have no idea...
  9. For non-paying bidders sellers already have the recourse of filing strikes against the user. This will actually get these users kicked off ebay quickly, much more than negative feedback will do. Plus negative feedback doesn't really prevent you from bidding on anything anyways. Plenty of sellers are very very slow sending items and I don't have much recourse except to start a paypal dispute. Either way, there's no way for ebay to know whether the bidder really was non-paying or slow to pay, so there wouldn't be a way of providing feedback just for those cases.
  10. Ebay is changing the policy, in may 2008 seller will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral feedback to buyers: https://pages.ebay.com/services/forum/new.html I posted about this before (I'm very happy about this, I get ripped off so much by shady people and I am honest and can respect honest mistakes too). In fact, I still probably won't leave negs or neutrals except in extreme cases, because I'm sure the buyer will block me and they'll have my #1 want the next day. However, it will expose most sellers who are bad and the really really shady sellers' feedback will drop like a rock. Everyone here seemed against this policy when I posted before, I don't see a reason for an honest seller to be opposed to this -- obviously some insane people will leave unfair negatives but an honest seller's rating will stand out more compared to other sellers in the overall picture. Also, ebay is now counting every positive (not just once per seller) toward your total score, so random negatives will get averaged out quickly while sellers who consistently get negatives will stand out more.
  11. which item are you referring to?
  12. The 80s starville was a reformed version of the label. The original label was owned by Tom Lewis (who died in a fire in a nightclub he owned in the 80s). The 80s version of the label was owned by Tom Lewis, Otis Leaville, and Gus Redmond (the TOG on the label). So they did not use the same numbering system.
  13. I don't know if you were responding to me or the general thread -- personally I don't really care who bids on what, as long as they're not shill bidding. It does annoy me when people don't snipe, I wish everyone sniped their auctions instead of getting into stupid bidding wars, driving up the price for themselves and for next time the record comes up. you actually can't even track stuff people bid on for the few people who bid ahead of time any more because of the hidden ebay things -- you can pretty much only see winners of completed auctions now. I think ebay uk sometimes will still show bidder identities, but the US ones are definitely all hidden except for the high bidder in a completed auction. Personally, except for the thing where you buy under one and sell under another, I don't understand why some people keep multiple IDs. It's not like you're so important that someone's tracking your every move. The people who ARE important you can easily figure out their IDs anyways, even if they keep changing them (which they do...), as you can just look at what you know they were the high bidder on after the changed their ID.
  14. Thanks for the positive feedback, I actually still don't own this 45 (in general everything else I play is off 45, but I asked someone who had this if I could play a recording because it fit in well with the MLK show). I will post refosoul audio of the sweet soul side which is also really good when I get a chance...
  15. Thanks for the feedback, the rudy west and watts line are cheap titles that you should be able to pick up easily currently.
  16. dammit, I HAVE a life, I just choose to live it on ebay...
  17. orange is definitely absolute first release on this specific title, I think the red might have even been pressed a few years later (on some other titles, they might have been pressed closer in terms of time).
  18. Not that strange for him to start it at a lower price if he didn't get any offers at that price. plus it's over a grand now, I'm guessing he'll get more than what he asked for here... you probably drew a bunch more attention to it too, actually...

  20. sorry, I'm an idiot and don't understand how to read threads.
  21. I thought you just said you didn't know this?
  22. That isn't what happened, the fake bidding in the original auctions was documented even in the national media and the new seller is some sort of professional auction company. What I think is funny about the new auction is that if you get verified to bid, you get access to his database of his records. It would be funny if that list got public to reveal the garbage that is actually there.
  23. Dave Rimmer's site has more #s on it: https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/nola.htm although this site has a different side for the b-side of #703 https://funky16corners.tripod.com/11_warren_lee.htm
  24. craig moorer used to have a bunch of these (of course not right now that you're looking for it...)
