  1. I have this listed with two b-sides, one being "why did you call" and the other being "the rabbit". I've seen this for sale a few times (still don't own it) but never noted the b-side. Does it actually come two ways? Both are #5026.
  2. yo breck hook me up with the marshon on the cheap
  3. Hi. I hope everyone had a great Father’s Day. Today on my show I did a nice girl group set (starting with the super rare Softiques record from the West Side of Chicago) and then played 1970s records for the rest of the show. I played some unusual funk group records and early and late 70s sweet soul. You can check out the show at the following link: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/6-16-2013.mp3? You can listen to other shows and interviews with Chicago groups by going to my main page www.sittinginthepark.com Also, if someone you know wants to subscribe to this email list, they can add themselves at the following URL: https://eepurl.com/n7Qr5 Also, unrelated to this show but probably of interest to listeners, check out my friend Kevin Coombe's discography webpage of soul 45s from Washington, DC: https://www.dcsoulrecordings.com. In addition to listing almost every single soul 45 released from the DC / Baltimore area, he has an incredible section where you can see many rare pictures of soul groups that most people have never seen. Playlist follows and I hope you enjoy the show. Softiques - Just two kinds of boys - Sheldon Ster-Phonics - Don’t leave me - Mas-Tok Dorothy Berry - Cryin’ on my pillow - Challenge Chris Clark - Don’t be too long - VIP Patty Livingston - I’ve got my baby - Dimension Lost Generation - Talking the teenage language - Brunswick Signs of the Time - Hurts so bad - Pro 7 / Numero Final Decisions - Keep on walking - Bumpshop Blue Notes - It’s over - Glades Trammps - I know the feeling - Golden Fleece Lincoln - Formula for love - Brick Trendells - Looking at you - Fireplace Positive Motivation - You brought me back - Wonderful Andrew Lewis Band - Midnite man - Richmond William Howard - Give a helping hand - Cat High Fidelity - Strangers in love - Atlanta Imperial Vernon Steve Weakley - Let me be your secret lover - Omega Reggie Garland - Why now - Big Willie Mel Production Band - Make love in the cold - Mel Production Band Rivingtons - Don’t hate your father - JD thanks, Bob

  4. worth buying the now and again regional garland CD not only for info but for the great material.
  5. under the radar but in demand with sweet soul collectors. all copies I've had / seen have had annoying wear (maybe very light heat damage?).
  6. no the girl on the bed is the first press. it was ric williams girlfriend at the time and he got pissed off and they had to change it.

he has a northern connection i noticed recently. he's one of the writers on the Exits' "don't wanna hear it". I thought that was interesting. RIP.
  8. i guess the suits skew soul vs. sunshine pop or something. context is important, it would be interesting to hear what they were going for.
  9. sounds just like a pop song to me. i like it on repeat listening though, it's catchy. the lead singer pseudonym and group name imply pop to me though. just my opinion if someone else wants to offer one. what kind of music did the group members think it was?
  10. Too bad that they weren't successful, but this isn't soul music.
  11. Ethics - There'll still be a sweet tomorrow / That's the way love goes - Wale VG, clean with light wear and a few marks on each side. email sitpsales@gmail.com to reserve. $50. $2 US shipping, $12 overseas. paypal gift only. 256kb stereo full unaltered clips: https://www.divshare.com/download/24204342-c8c https://www.divshare.com/download/24204344-f5e 300DPI scans: email sitpsales@gmail.com to reserve
  12. it's okay. i'd like to collect it because i have their other record. if i had sale copies of any of the other ones i would offer them to you.
  13. that lon-genes on romark was finally on ebay recently... i lost it.
  14. I'm pretty sure this has been on ebay at least once (maybe twice, i remember seeing it twice). popsike is now useless, tons of data has been dropped from it for who knows why. still, very rare release obviously. but there are so many stax titles that there are ones i definitely haven't seen at all.
  15. Hi. Last Sunday I did a special tribute show in memory of two monster Chicago talents who passed away in the previous week -- Clarence Burke Jr., lead singer (and frequent songwriter) of the Five Stairsteps and Marvin Junior, lead baritone of the Dells and one of the greatest soul baritone singers of all time. I played all music by the Dells and the Five Stairsteps, playing some of my favorite classic cuts of theirs. The music in this show really represents the sound of Chicago. You can check out the show at the following link: http://www.sittinginthepark.com/6-2-2013.mp3? You can listen to other shows and interviews with Chicago groups by going to my main page www.sittinginthepark.com Also, if someone you know wants to subscribe to this email list, they can add themselves at the following URL: http://eepurl.com/n7Qr5 Playlist follows and I hope you enjoy the show. Five Stairsteps - Baby make me feel so good - Curtom Dells - The love we had stays on my mind - Cadet Five Stairsteps - World of fantasy - Windy C Dells - Stay in my corner - Cadet Five Stairsteps - Ooh baby baby - Windy C Dells - I can sing a rainbow / Love is blue - Cadet Five Stairsteps and Cubie - Stay close to me - Curtom Dells - It’s all up to you - Cadet Five Stairsteps - Playgirl’s love - Windy C Dells - Close your eyes - Cadet (LP) Five Stairsteps - Danger she’s a stranger - Windy C Dells - Just as long as we’re in love - Cadet Five Stairsteps - You waited too long - Windy C Dells - There is - Cadet Five Stairsteps - You don’t love me - Windy C Dells - Ooh I love you - Cadet Five Stairsteps - The touch of you - Windy C Dells - Reminiscing - Mercury Dells and Dramatics - Love is missing from our lives - Cadet Five Stairsteps - Don’t waste your time - Windy C Dells - Give your baby a standing ovation - Cadet 5 Stairsteps - Behind curtains - Windy C Dells - Bring back the love of yesterday - Cadet thanks, Bob
  16. The split evolution record was always rare in chicago, and I interviewed the main dude and he doesn't have copies. The northern scene may have just "discovered" it but I had sold a copy for $200 years ago to a funk collector and the person was happy to get it. The only reason it might not even be more now that the northern scene cares is because maybe it doesn't fit a dancefloor as well as some other tracks. People have a relatively short-sighted view of the world of collectors on here (e.g. it comes up a lot with respect to some of the other reissues, etc.).
  17. trust me is the most common one, so not so much of a long shot. all their other 45s are much harder.
  18. thanks everyone for the explanations
  19. I have a promo on styrene and vinyl. Don't have a stock copy. Sure there's not two numbers, and it's just confusion. However, I recently asked if this exists, which is listed places: Lanrod 1606 Please Take A Chance On Me / You Upset Me Baby anyone ever seen this?
  20. yeah, just super super chicago sounding
