  1. Hi Mel. I'm not sure what the other version is, I'm interested in knowing when you figure it out. THanks.
  2. are you talking about calvin and the twlites on harlow? What other version are you describing? Thanks.
  3. they have been announcing this for a long time. EIther way, the change was supposed to happen may 18th, maybe they did it early for the UK or something, mine hasn't changed yet.
  4. Kevin, another one was on ebay like a week later (clean), I think it went for like $450. But you have the rarer DJ copy on twilight, much harder than the issue on Twinight. The numero group (the people who put out the twinight CD) reissued it.
  5. I have a weird jazzy version of 'what does it take' by a carolina group called the ovations on a carolina triad label.
  6. He doesn't have a single ebay user ID, you have to look for sellers from Belgium that have 0 or very low feedback. I bought from him once (I didn't know it was him, but it was a belgium seller with low feedback), I convinced him to take paypal because I thought I was safe. But it was 0 just after paypal had changed their policy to only refunding you what was in the seller's account and NOT fully protecting you, and I didn't know about the change.. I think the item was only like $60 and I got $40, so basically I lost $40 to this guy, which is possibly the least he's stolen from anyone...
  7. I don't know anything about this record. Isn't clifton a doowop revival label though that put out throwback doowop acts (mostly white) in the 80s? Or is this item on a different clifton label?
  8. sweet soul people are looking for it too, though. it usually goes for $100 - $150 on ebay but very rarely comes up for sale so I could see people paying more.
  9. my friend found the professionals guy, the whole group was white (the guy who put it out was a dentist actually) and they were from DC. They are apparently the same group as the holidays on whiz and edgewoods on epic.
  10. craig moorer has had a bunch of the chosen few (which as you probably know is exactly the same recording as elvin spencer on twinight and the chosen few on chosen few). I just looked and it's actually featured on his front page for $125.
  11. https://www1.gemm.com/item/BILLY--NICHOLS/D...G/GML125973809/
  12. I don't know the value, but FYI lonely life also came out on twin stacks. Great cut, I think it's Jo Armstead on backing vocals.
  13. I get overgraded records all the time, sometimes significantly overgraded. I usually hold onto them after convincing myself that I will not get them back easily, that I would have paid the same price for lesser condition, or that it's not worth dealing with. I usually regret it because one always comes up for sale eventually (usually right after I keep the record) and even if it doesn't, I'm always annoyed just having a messed up record that I got burned on. The only reason to keep it would be if you got it at a good price, I would send it back if I were you. I'm assuming you paid a high price for that, and that you should send it back, it will come up again eventually but it might take a few years. But it definitely will come up again, i've seen that nurons for sale at least a few times.
  14. I think people were buying it for the sweet soul side probably
  15. Someone just announced in the soulfuldetroit forum that Willie Cager just died last weekend. Apparently he was living in Lansing, MI when he died, I knew a couple of people in Chicago who knew him from back in the day who were looking for him. Sad news.
  16. are there other titles on the label? isn't that fox sex title an 80s thing?
  17. both janus 45s were only issued in baltimore, the harder we try is the easy one (lots of copies around), the hard one is 'cross my heart' which is also very good.
  18. they were also the same group as the inclinations on janus so they has 2 45s as the inclinations, one of which is very hard to find. One of the members was previously in beverly and the del-capris on columbia.
  19. Here is a photo. From left to right: Eddie Dunn, Ralph O'Neil, Jerrone Johnson, Emmett Gardner. Eddie Dunn is the guy that sings lead "to be happy enough" (one of my favorite records of all time), "Not too old to cry", etc. There's nothing else I can do besides presenting audio and visual evidence of the facts so this is my last post on this topic. At this point if people want to post any conspiracy theories, ignore the photo, etc. go ahead.
  20. again, there is nothing to 'debate' or 'question' here, given that you can hear the artists themselves talk about recording and singing these songs, performing them on tv, etc. I can't believe this is even an open issue. Are you proposing that I staged an interview with fake artists? Or that they lied about being on record?
  21. thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it.
  22. maybe not you specifically, but speculation about artists identity, race, etc. is not 'debate'. Plenty of people here and on other forums post misinformation as 'fact' based on their speculation, which is equivalent to spreading lies. It gets posted to a public site and people further spread the misinformation. People can 'debate' whether they like a record or not, I don't see most factual and historical information that people just make up as something that to be 'debated'. The whole reason I post interviews with artists is so that people can hear their accounts from the source -- e.g. they don't even have to believe me. I just can't believe that even after posting that and a link people still are speculating when there is nothing to 'debate'. I might sometimes speculate about an artist, record, etc. but I will always put it forward as straight speculation unless I have actually confirmed facts from a solid source.
  23. haha Ted, I think you sold two of the records for him by advertising here. One thing I found is that no matter what ebay auction I point to, no matter how shady (I am NOT saying this seller is shady), posting about it here is instant advertising and guarantees more hits. Either way, the seller is a nice guy, it's Brad Hales, the people's records guy whose store burned down recently.
  24. Hey Brian, Greg would probably know more as he's talked to him, but I think Tommy Dorsey actually lives in Georgia now. Emmett told me he was a photographer in Atlanta, I think. Just FYI, I don't know if that is true or not.
  25. There are two lead singers in the group. Eddie Dunn and Emmett Gardner. Eddie Dunn sings on the 'beach' sounding records (as you refer to them) and Emmett Gardner sings on the harder sounding records. Their goal was 'modern harmony', 'big parade' was supposed to sound like the 5th dimension -- e.g. sort of like up and away in my beautiful balloon.. "his friend" can listen to the interview for more information as to what they were trying to do. I already know what both records sound like (I own every trends 45 and all 3 45s they previously recorded as 'ze majestics') and have talked to the three surviving group members, I know who sings on what tracks. I don't understand how people just start rumors and spread lies around like fact, it's very frustrating. Tommy Dorsey (the guitarist for the trends) actually wrote a record for the Okaysions and the Okaysions covered at least one of their records. It was the dream of many Black groups to crossover to the pop market.
