I think the seattle group is white. The philly and oakland groups are Black (at least the Oakland one is).

although it is very funny, I don't understand why you keep talking about how much you know about records and how long you have been collecting and in the scene. Nobody is taking shots at you directly (there are people here who know very little to people who know vast amounts about music and everyone here is pretty accepting), they are only responding to your constant posts about how much you know, how big your collection is, etc. I think you should either talk about actual music or at least stop talking about how much you know about records, how long you have been collecting, it comes across as very strange. Why would anyone who knows a lot about music or who has been in the scene forever need to constantly talk about that fact itself? it should be reflected in their other posts about real subject material.

Can anyone tell me if the flip of the issue of "peace in the valley" is a ballad? Any chance of audio? I have the issue of their other atlantic title and neither side is very good. Clearly a kiddie group from Canada, does anyone know if they actually were a Black group? I'm suspecting an osmonds type thing, but I'm not sure.

I don't know if this is what the person commenting was referring to, but I would actually have a similar comment in that I wish I could show more record per page when browsing. Search helps you find a specific titles if you are looking for it. There are 1000s of titles I'm looking for, I like to browse through all titles on a webpage to see if there's anything of interest. If I can only see 20 titles at a time and there is a "next" button and it says "40 pages", I'm not going to spend the time doing it, scrolling and constantly clicking next over and over again. I made a comment like this to someone else about their site recently. So my comment is not specifically about the "search" function but rather just being able to browse more than one title at a time. Every day on ebay I look at all R&B 45s ending that day, I actually wish ebay showed more than 200 titles at a time, but at least 200 titles makes it way more managable than 10-20, which is what many people have on their sites. I actually never heard game players until I bought some UK CD, I can't remember what CD it was, it was a 2cd compilation of 70s modern cuts. In the US, his hit was "it's got to be now or never" (which is a fantastic record if you don't know it, one of my favorite records of all time), it is common on the north bay label and hard to find on the earlier ruby label. I occasionally find some of his 45s in Chicago on the cotton label. But he had several collectable 60s northern records before on koko, right? That's what I was saying about that webpage being wrong about his first record being "it's got to be now or never". I have no idea why he became a UK-focused artist. "Game players" does have that sort of UK-pop soul sound, at least to my ears.

well the webpage is wrong about his discography given that he had a bunch of records before north bay and the north bay even came out on the ruby label first. the picture is interesting though.

Can anyone tell me if vv and the superbs on blue rock actually exists? I have never seen it. I think I asked before and didn't get a response, I'm asking again because I've just actually seen a photo of the group (3 girls) which is making me wonder. THanks.

I have the same yellow label that sort of looks like it's coming off and looks more late 70s than 60s. I think Neil is saying that they were pressed from the same plates in the US so the only way to tell the difference is by a more 60s looking label.

Tommy Dark, of the Ideals and Tom and Jerry-O, is a house painter now too.

personally I think this version is a million times better than the universal joint version, which is obviously way rarer though. I never understand why people always think the rarer version is better -- maybe just because they've heard it less?

Lew Stanley had a lot of copies of the Dream Team I think, you could try contacting him.

I don't have much background on the manila machine, but I think they were actually Philipino guys, which is why they have weird accents (especially at the monologue at the end). Bizarre that they covered a shrine record. They actually have a whole LP which might have more info, but I just have the 45. The other side of the 45 is a cover of Jackie Wilson's "higher and higher"

the woman on the left (Laurel Ross) was later in Silk on Nation by the way. The woman on the right was previously in the Parkettes on Ludix. The woman in the middle is Bernice Willis, who later had a record on Okeh. Just FYI.

if you're talking about Bob Miner, when he talks about "a few years back" it means like in the 80s. He's always like "we were at a flea market a few years ago and the seller had quantity of the classics on yan-g and four gents on encore" and I'm like "when was that" and he's like "early 80s".
