  1. well the webpage is wrong about his discography given that he had a bunch of records before north bay and the north bay even came out on the ruby label first. the picture is interesting though.
  2. Can anyone tell me if vv and the superbs on blue rock actually exists? I have never seen it. I think I asked before and didn't get a response, I'm asking again because I've just actually seen a photo of the group (3 girls) which is making me wonder. THanks.
  3. has to be a fluke
  4. thanks for the clarification
  5. I have the same yellow label that sort of looks like it's coming off and looks more late 70s than 60s. I think Neil is saying that they were pressed from the same plates in the US so the only way to tell the difference is by a more 60s looking label.
  6. Tommy Dark, of the Ideals and Tom and Jerry-O, is a house painter now too.
  7. personally I think this version is a million times better than the universal joint version, which is obviously way rarer though. I never understand why people always think the rarer version is better -- maybe just because they've heard it less?
  8. Lew Stanley had a lot of copies of the Dream Team I think, you could try contacting him.
  9. I don't have much background on the manila machine, but I think they were actually Philipino guys, which is why they have weird accents (especially at the monologue at the end). Bizarre that they covered a shrine record. They actually have a whole LP which might have more info, but I just have the 45. The other side of the 45 is a cover of Jackie Wilson's "higher and higher"
  10. Hi. I really appreciate the feedback. I'm Bob, though, not Tony . Thanks.
  11. the woman on the left (Laurel Ross) was later in Silk on Nation by the way. The woman on the right was previously in the Parkettes on Ludix. The woman in the middle is Bernice Willis, who later had a record on Okeh. Just FYI.
  12. that is very well done and actually took artistic talent too!

  14. if you're talking about Bob Miner, when he talks about "a few years back" it means like in the 80s. He's always like "we were at a flea market a few years ago and the seller had quantity of the classics on yan-g and four gents on encore" and I'm like "when was that" and he's like "early 80s".
  15. I didn't know that was his ID either. What's funny is although you can't tell 100%, if you look at that willie and the mighty magnificents ebay photo, it sort of looks like it has heat damage -- e.g. the shininess and pitts that are in the vinyl.
  16. the antennas is cheap. the buddy scott is a hard to find chicago record, but unfortunately i also can't help you out with a value.

    Ebay

i was responding to the comments about it not being fair that sellers can't leave negs. i agree the buyer is in the wrong, but at worst they were unreasonable and mean. However, they didn't LIE, threaten the seller, etc. Posting that experience (without giving names, ebay users, etc.) and complaining is a reasonable response. posting their name, ID, location, etc. is overly vindictive and unreasonable with respect to what actually happened and doesn't reflect well on the seller, IMO. Also, as long as the seller it airing their dirty laundry in public and linking to their actual feedback, I can also point out how they left negs in response to neutrals. All of this doesn't accomplish much for the seller.
  18. yes, sweet soul collectors have always known about it as far as I know but I've seen some northern people start to bid on it (I don't know why, maybe just because tempos are slowing down people are broadening their interests???). I think you could get at least $150 for it but maybe more. that's what it's been going around on ebay recently, and it still doesn't come up for sale a lot (again, it used to be available, I guess it dried up). The type of record that might go up if it becomes more known, or might go down if people don't know and lose interest? it's a nice record.

I see you also left people negatives in response to their neutrals. That seems pretty nasty too. Why would you do that? A seller recently sold me an item which was very overgraded and lied about the sleeve being original in the description. I left them a positive saying so. They left me a NEGATIVE. Why would they do that unless they were a horrible, vindicitive person in the first place? It's good that sellers can't leave negatives any more, there is no point in that as it's not like anyone reads buyer feedback to evaluate whether they can bid, people only read seller feedback to evaluate the seller. Even if the buyer is in the wrong, negative feedback accomplishes little, it's not like a seller can automatically block a bidder that has some negatives, they will only block specific bidder that they had a bad experience with already. Sellers have the recourse of filing NPB strikes against buyers who don't pay. That can actually get them kicked off of ebay (unlike negative feedback for sellers). In this case you didn't deserve a negative, but a buyer can evaluate the comment and your response and see that you didn't deserve it. However, if you act nasty in response and leave mean followups and leave a nasty enough feedback to the buyer (and then are vindictive enough to publicly post about them in a forum), that doesn't really reflect well on you as a seller.
  20. this was a cheap record but is starting to be known so it's now going for $100+. This was Ted Mills group before Blue Magic. Ted Mills sings lead on this.
  21. thanks for posting this. what is the source of this (a master tape, a weird press, etc.)? Thanks.
  22. if the guy was describing his girl as "hipper than me" it is probably the four andantes on modo. I don't know if that's what you are thinking about or not.
  23. also, if I were to make a flyer, I would also steal an album cover or a photo (just like I did on my website), but that's because I'm not an artist ... I wouldn't want to be recognized for doing it.
  24. I don't understand the point of featuring flyers where the reason that they are good is that they are jacking album covers or other originally great artwork. I understand why people make the flyers like that -- they look good -- but only because the original art looks good. I would be interested in seeing flyers where original design / art made them good. For example, there are lots of galleries of Rock music flyers and they look good becaues of the artists who made them, not because they stole a bunch of album covers.
  25. attic records just had a white one on ebay. I tihnk the white one is real.
