  1. I only have the one you have, not that other one, sorry. I don't think it's a boot, raw soul is even listed as the backing back on the single artist side. Thanks.
  2. it's not very good (I just remember playing both sides once and filing it right away)
  3. that is the original press, the only way those songs came out. I always thought this group had some group to raw soul express on cat because that perkins name is on all the records. guess is obviously lenis guess.
  4. this doesn't turn up much, I'm pretty sure there was one on ebay in the last couple months though
  5. the burn group is definitely different. those your copy records are valuable doowop records. I don't know much about doowop and don't know the blue lake 45 but the your copy group is definitely from detroit.
  6. Bombay is Chicago, it was a Bob Catron label, he did have some detroit connections. The other not known as soul records mentioned above are shitty blues / jazz records. There is also an LP on the label, I think by Jean Carroll (I can't remember now). Someone told me that the fascinators are the detroit doowop group who recorded on Your Copy, but no doowop collector will believe me on that title. The person told me that Michael Chandler (kermit's brother who is an alderman) told him that info.
  7. I bought vernon greene listed as "VG++" on Tim Brown's last list for 100 pounds. The same day I bought it a mint one went on ebay for $100 .
  8. hopefully he will be more careful with more expensive titles (and shipping overseas), that was just my experience with his cheaper titles. He has another user id with much lower feedback. I hope it works out for you, I like the sweet side (who can I turn to) but even that is sort of 'messy' sounding, still a nice record though.
  9. yeah, good luck with that seller les harris, one of the worst on ebay, his vg is like fair and he ships 45 INSIDE LPS, like he tapes the 45 to the LP, puts it inside the sleeve, writes an address on it, and mails it with no additional padding.
  10. I was the second bidder on a "VG" one 2 days ago for $180
  11. that is the only one pictured in this thread that has the 70s font that matches other titles like the compacts on carla
  12. no, the superlatives dynamic is detroit. there is at least one more dynamic label, I think out of pittsburgh, but maybe more. Thanks.
  13. anyone have a copy of this to sell or trade? Thanks.
  14. this is also my experience, promos much rarer. my experience is often off of what actually exists in the uk though.
  15. I will pm it to both of you tongiht when I get home
  16. There has never been any officially released soul train DVDs or VHS due to Don Cornelius and licensing issues. However, I heard he recently sold the rights to the show and there is at least a potential for something coming out now.
  17. Mine is orange and I've seen at least 3-4 other orange copies. The other george jay rockin ravens records on other labels are terrible "teener" type things, by the way, the dynamic one is the only good one I've heard.
  18. some texas guy was going to do a (bootleg?) comp a few years ago, my friend got an advance copy. I think it never came out though. The copy my friend got was all messed up anyways, like the songs started before the CD tracks started, etc.
  19. I mentioned this on another thread, but in my experience, the hardest title to find with the b-side is the robert dobyne. The spyder turner is also hard to find. I think I've never seen the sheila ross and spyder turner as promos without the b-side though. I think Sheila Ross was Sheila Ross of the royalettes because Teddy Randazzo is a writer on the record.
  20. this is a louisiana record, but isn't the changing scene a new york record?
  21. I called Gene Barge. He didn't remember anything about the record, except that he thought that Joy was part of a singing group of three sisters and that they pulled her out of the group to be a solo artist. He thought she wasn't from Chicago. I guess the final person to ask would be raynard miner.
  22. yeah, I knew it wasn't a total "top 30" as it didn't include don gardner, frank wilson, etc., I just meant I felt it was a hard record but not as hard as some of the other titles in the "top" list. At least the last couple of times I've seen it on ebay it's gone maybe ~$1000-$1500, most of the other titles would go much higher, plus I've seen it for sale more often than most of the other titles.
  23. no but I've had it twice, which is two more copies than most of the 30 records on the list. I guess it could just be a coincidence though. There are a lot of very tough records that aren't in the "top" most valuable list -- e.g. records that are both very rare and very well known, in demand, creating the high value.
  24. also, I think maybe the tsu tornadoes, while hard, shouldn't be in the top 30, at least based on how many times I've seen it vs. other ones on the list, plus its value is less.
  25. I would say the willie dee record is common relative to the other ones on the list, maybe doesn't belong in a top 30. For Chicago records, I would say the deltours is rarer than, say, the topics. That is a pretty good list though.
