  1. I've bought from him without problem before but that obviously does not necessarily mean that you wouldn't have a problem. Sorry to not be of more help, there are some new yorkers on this board (several who have posted here recently), you could try pm'ing them?
  2. I love those people, it keeps you guys from bidding and gets me records for cheaper
  3. It does not in any way harm the US seller to claim a low value (unless there is some sort of insurance claim involved). This is not "dodging tax", there are no US taxes on outgoing mail. For example, see the official ebay email quoted here: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...14165415AAXfRGL It's just that you're not playing by the rules, and the only thing that can happen is that the foreign government (in this case, the UK) gets mad and eventually decides to penalize the ADDRESSEE (the person in the UK receiving the package).
  4. Again, Mill was NOT lead of the esquires. He did sing lead in the Sheppards though.
  5. it seems strange as a boot just because the label looks to be from about the same time that the rising sun actually came out. to the winner of this -- you could have gotten this for less as a much more common 'legit' release on kingston with another rising sun cut on the flip, then left this to me as a cheap oddity. We both lost out here.
  6. Mill was not the lead singer of the esquires, you got your story totally backwards, he was a solo singer BEFORE and the esquires ended up backing him on his cuts, then he became a member of the esquires. they just happened to include a cut that he cut as a solo artist on the LP.
  7. apparently THE SYSTEM SUCKS I love that guy's feedback.
  8. I played this off a 45 on my radio show recently. I think it was written by at least one of the brothers of soul too.

    Holes?

frequently called a "cut-out hole" and sometimes abbreviated in grading as COH
  10. I was the second bidder. I blow enough money on crappy records already because they are "interesting".
  11. I have talked to many artists and most people I know got regular middle class jobs. Back in the 60s there were many jobs available -- even if you didn't have a college education, you could earn a decent living. In Chicago many people worked for the CTA or the Post Office or the city, but there were also many local factory / production type jobs also. Some people went onto college. A few people got messed up on drugs or alcohol and didn't go anywhere but most people I talked to went on to lead regular lives.
  12. I agree with you, I played the "my baby" cut on one of my anniversary radio shows. Will post the photo when I get home.
  13. It is an outgrowth of arnold albury and the casuals but the funky yolk is not the same version and it's not exactly the same group (my friend found the info via his deep city / clarence reid stuff where he comped the material). He sent me a cool photo that is actually a COVER OF SHEET MUSIC for "getting is kind of cool now", I will post it later. Crazy that sheet music for that song exists.
  14. I agree with the above valuation, maybe about $200 now mint. There was one on ebay a few months ago, I think Brad Hales had it up, you can ask him what he got (it wasn't mint though).
  15. the suncut 45 is also much rarer, that kingston 45 was around before the stupid price increase. i have all the other rising sun 45s and kept waiting to get that kingston 45 cheap, i waited too long. the suncut 45 isn't valuable though, I agree with garethx's valuation. there was a weird rising sun 45 just on ebay that I actually never saw before, it had a different artist on the flip, but the a-side was just "funky yolk" so I didn't bid high since I had that on kingston already.
  16. new york doesn't have cheeky djs, only hipster djs
  17. i told you the record would be shipped in other records though! glad to hear it arrived safely.
  18. this is available on 45, there are copies on gemm and probably sellers here that have it
  19. Renaldo Domino - Two Years Four Days - Numero Group
  20. Renaldo Domino and the Orientations - I love my girl - Arnell
  21. numero group pressed the 4 years 2 days cut along with another unreleased cut on a 45, you can buy it. I will post the arnell northern side when I get a chance.
  22. Thanks everyone for the feedback. If you've never heard the flip of the ultra-rare arnell 45, it's northern too.
  23. umm... can I reserve a copy?
