  1. i don't know if that is the same king solomon, that is by "king solomon's advisors" on Ghetto. That Ghetto is a new york label. So I don't know if it's the same LA guy.
  2. there was a messed up copy on ebay recently, like one of the sides was unplayable. it didn't go for much, but it was destroyed (I don't remember which side was messed up). I don't remember seeing it for sale on ebay before though.
  3. ascots on american playboy are from texas
  4. that is interesting, I always thought the american playboy group was white, it sounds white to me. I know there's an LP but I haven't seen it to see if the members are pictured there. Is it an all-Black group? Thanks.
  5. this is hard to find but not valuable. I like how it says "little 12 year old" patrice holloway on the label.
  6. I think there was a thread here previously about there being 2 versions, so I woudl be careful. If there are two, I don't know which one is on the kent cd.
  7. you have good taste
  8. Thanks for listening. I love the weird shuffly beat on the vi richardson. The Rj's latest arrival was their second 45 from 1980, they had an earlier record also on stand-by (also from 1980). Thanks.
  9. I don't know anything about Junior McCants except that he was from Ohio -- you seem to have some info. Do you know if he was at all connected to the McCants family (e.g. incl. James McCants) that were the Harmonics / Chicago Gangsters? They were also from Ohio so it doesn't seem unlikely.
  10. I'm sorry I misread your question. I looked on my shelf and I don't have the magnum 45, so I can't help... sorry.
  11. it's probably the same guy as both records are from LA. he has a zillion 45s by the way. He also has a cool private press LP.
  12. I have the Fania LP if you want to make me an offer on that
  13. yes I'm not talking about ESP. ESP has northern / modern demand. The record you have is sweet soul. If it were a northern record it would be worth a lot more. Giattino used to have some of the one you have. It does rarely come up for sale.
  14. This usually sells for about $150 on ebay. I've only seen it on a pink label I think, is yours red as in the scan?
  15. also, the first two commands on dynamic came with PIC SLEEVES, both are very rare with pic sleeves. I have the harder pic sleeve (the second one) but still don't have the first.
  16. it is definitely very rare and obscure, i bought it the one time I saw it, it's not that good though. I don't think it's the eugene smiley essence of love.
  17. i assume you know this, but those aren't the same label, the commands is on a texas dynamic label, the eldees is on a detroit DYNAMICS (plural) label

  19. I can record the conduc one for you if you want ("that one" I was talking about was the one you found).
  20. there's a eddie king and mae b mae on conduc that turns up that also has a nice R&B sound. I don't know that one though. what you found is also a cool mica related label, I haven't seen that label before.
  21. I don't think so, neither side of the record is very slow. I also find it very amusing that people here keep talking about "the low rider scene" as if it a few people in LA who are into lowriders and "oldies" somehow represent US sweet soul collectors. It's like how every record on ebay is listed as "northern soul".
  22. actually steve talks about you all the time (not by name), he always talks about the time that he sold you the servicemen and he said he had one more and you asked him to go get it and he got it for you. in fact, I think I was in the store once when you were in the store because he was talking about finding the deltours once and you said that you had a copy.
  23. I met Art once before he died, I'm a younger collector so I didn't have the opportunity to interact with him much. Steve did say he got the yan-g record (and the velvets on number one) from phil orsi before. It's surprising that you had that record so many times but not the wise world 45. I don't know "frank's records", must have been gone for a long time.
  24. Yes, both labels were phil orsi connected. Your record came out on both WISE WORLD and WIDE WORLD. I think more common on the "wise" version. Apparently it was a local hit in Chicago but now it is hard to find. It also comes on both vinyl and styrene. I still only have a sort of messed up copy but it isn't like ultra rare like the yan-g record, it turns up ocassionally. The classics went to Englewood high school but I don't know any of the members. I would like to interview them on my radio show.
  25. I'm not sure what other info to give you, but this is the same group as on yan-g and they are from the south side of Chicago.
