  1. what's up eli, let me know if you want to see whpk again. it's funny, i'm setting up an interview with a group now that said that their first interview they did in the 70s after they released their record was on WHPK.
  2. I did not know that, I have done a refund 3-4 times when I have sold and I rarely have money in my account but maybe I hadn't yet spent the money at that time? Thanks for the info.
  3. while that buyer was ridiculous, for future reference you can do a refund (partial or full) on the original paypal payment which will result in the buyer being not charged fees and which will also recover your fees
  4. most people's "bargain prices" here are rarely bargains
  5. i think this group is also from virginia but I'm not 100% sure, they have at least one other record that is rock on another label (it's a blue label i'm not remembering what it is right now).
  6. thanks again for listening
  7. it sounds like your tastes are not well formed enough for me to know exactly what to recommend, but it seems like maybe you prefer 'deep soul', you could look at the deep soul thread in the media section
  8. ouch
  9. looks like mine is a promo also but with scepter distribution
  10. here is the printed-on-styrene version I have, I'm emailing a high res version of the image to dave
  11. especially hard to get ahold of if it's unreleased, according to: https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/johnnyjoe.htm johnny and joe had a massive hit with "over the mountain, across the sea"
  12. I think so. But like I said there's no "label", it's one of those shitty bell things where it's printed on the styrene if I remember correctly. It's definitely not white label at least.
  13. I'll do the majestics for you tonight, I have it on one of those bell printed-on-styrene presses (which I think is the most common form of it).
  14. you used to be able to remove negative feedback, you can't anymore
  15. i know the scene you're talking about... bald heads in R&B predate that song though, one of the treniers famous records is "bald head"
  16. the longest intro that I hear weekly on commercial radio is lamont dozier's trying to hold on to my woman, the intro is way better than the song. another good one is tom brock - if we can't make it then nobody can. and the lp version of i wanna do something freaky to you. i guess lots of 70s commercial soul was all about long intros.
  17. obviously steely dan is famous for that, but i always thought that the defonics "seventeen" was pretty disturbing.
  18. thanks for the feedback, I did do a music show last week. I can start posting older ones from before I was putting them online if people want to hear more. Thanks.
  19. my favorite is garland green "don't think I'm a violent guy", the monologue part where he's like "I hit you so light, it wouldn't even make a baby cry!" and that's not even the only song on the album about beating up people.

  21. you have good taste. the other sweet and innocent 45 is better though if you don't know it.
  22. plus if he didn't sing lead on that song, maybe the lead singer or other members are still around
  23. seems unlikely given his success with his much bigger group. sort of like asking frankie beverly to do because of my heart. it would be expensive at least.
