well like I said, i couldn't believe how every time it came up some other random person bid it up to $150 (a couple of the same people also were bidding but I swear ultimately a different person was winning each time). i still see people successfully selling it here for 150 pounds, not everybody buys off ebay I guess

they stopped listing it at 99cents after a few people (myself included) won it for less than $150. I couldn't believe how long it stayed at that price, literally every time for at least a few dozen times people bid it up higher.

I would pay $25 to collect as a chicago record I don't have (on a soul label), but not more. Someone who actually wants the record for the music would maybe pay more. The Betty label was a division of Palos, Betty was the name of Sunny Sawyer's wife.

as long as we're talking about Jerry Mundo, he actually wrote one of the Creations 45s on Globe and I have another 45 by his band on the Tower (chicago) label.

the illusion on steed were a rock group that had some pretty common lps, I could be wrong but I don't know if they have any collectible 45s. as I said in another thread I know little about rock though.

mike noriega won 3 on ebay in a dutch auction and just had one up in his own auction. lew stanley had one in his last auction, maybe it came from mike. so lew might still have it or mike might have one or two left.

those are all ohio records. the soul searchers wgr is a kiddie group covering a sly stone song.

I know the mega group was contacted for the reissue, etc so the names of those guys have to be known. If it is the same group, how'd they get onto a german label? I thought this was a nice sweet soul record, I was the second bidder. I'd love to see the whole newspaper article that was the pic cover of the mellow madness reissue, anyone have a scan of the whole thing? Thanks.

i have the 45 off the lp, "lover's lullaby", nice sweet soul, comes as a UA promo and much harder as a UA issue. Obviously that LP is rarer!

the female average guy is a texas record, brenda southhall and the dallasites on doing our thang records. it's a red label I think. the black soul express is on the BSE label and it's known by funk collectors, I think it has a picture of an oil rig on the label if I remember correctly.

I've seen the blue version, haven't seen it a lot though. don't know which one is actually first and I'm not sure how the author of the books would know either, I think people always tend to speculate that the rarer one is first somehow when often that's not the case.

I'm good at fixing skips. the problem with fixing skips in styrene is that it tends to burn out the record if it's hard to fix. Like to fix it I have to play the record back and forth over the spot, sometimes with a fisher price turntable (one of my many secret techniques...). but if you do it on a styrene record too much it causes styrene burn. i thought my copy of breakaway was vinyl though, maybe because it's a promo.

hey joe, i'm in Chicago and i'm willing to give you my old scanner so you can actually have pictures of the records you're selling, if you want. it would probably help you out since it looks really bad when you have scans of previously sold other people's records in your auctions.

i have I think a pretty clean copy too. it would be better if you got one from the uk though.
