  1. I'm confused, Bobbi Rowe and the Englishmen are the Larks. Are you just asking if there is a released 45 credited to the Larks?
  2. 100% the same guy. He's also Vee Allen's (aka Velma Perkins) brother
  3. i agree, plus there is at least one ebay sale in the regular sales section that should be in the ebay section

    Sale Ended

the midas press is much rarer than the toddlin town. either way, both are 2nd labels.
  5. I own the jean wells 45, it's on the red phila record like the original press of the butlers on phila (1836)
  6. just to clarify, by "separate tracks", I mean totally unrelated songs
  7. the your love group was new orleans weren't they? new orleans credits are all over the record. It was the same group as ron henderson and the choice of color. Anyways, the group Image that recorded on Janus had one of their janus 45s released as "choice of colors". The group had Charles Russell, originally from Texas but later based in LA, on lead. So it's a good possibility that it was the charles russell image / new image group.
  8. are you sure they are the same group as the four buddies and you're not getting that from someone's confused ebay auction? I know someone who knew one of the four buddies and said they were from kentucky but recorded in LA.
  9. morris chestnut is pictured on the cover of one of the street corner symphony LP on abc if you want to get it from that
  10. the autographs "love's gonna do you in" has nothing to do with bobbi rowe "why'd you put me on" if that's what you're asking, they're totally separate tracks. Both are great records though.
  11. yeah, but you can afford the manhattans version which is better in my opinion. wish I had the icemen 45 though.
  12. another ohio-motown connection was that the morroco muzik makers were an ohio group. And obviously there was ohio-detroit connections at the time, e.g. cody black.

    Bumping

all of these wouldn't solve the problem of new sales being pushed off the main page too quickly by bumping though. I think Mike should go with his idea. I also don't like the idea of dividing it into more categories like "crossover" "60s", etc. because music I like falls across the genres and it will just make it more difficult to see everything. Maybe "reggae" is so different that it is less likely the same lists will have reggae and non-reggae but there aren't that many reggae sales anyways.
  14. no, the phillips group is a white group from Pennsylvania. This intentions only has a 45 on the Tiki label. There is another Chicago Intensions with an "s" that has many other 45s but their name is spelled with an "s" on all their records. There are two presses of the Siberians on Ricardo with two different mixes. one is a more darker orange label with a crude, large font and the other is a yellow-orange label with a smaller font.
  15. districts - like clouds - nile (killer track) lovers - one way to love - frantic tons of other sweet soul records that are way better than the northern b-side in my opinion.
  16. this used to be on ebay trashed fairly regularly, sellers like record graveyard would have it up. it won't be in popsike because of it's lower value.

    Bumping

I actually thought there were more than 50 a day. it must have been due to the constant bumping of previous day's posts that today's sales fell off. i agree with your idea 100% if there are less than 50 a day.
  18. this is rare, but I don't think it's the rarest motown single (for example, I've seen it more than the nick and the jaguars).

    Bumping

I see the overall problem as the sheer volume of sales. Whichever ones there are, there are a large number to go through at any time and ones from even the same day will get knocked off the page quickly. one thing that maybe would help would be if something is sold to somehow mark the post as such and have it drop off the page. Mike's solution might make it more fair about who gets exposure but it won't address the problem of sales falling off the page quickly due to sheer volume.
  20. I used to be surprised by $5 being now $100 records but the truth is that there are no more "common" records (45s at least). All 45s are now rare and hard to find. Any demand on them will instantly push up the value from $5.

    Bumping

part of the problem is that so many people are selling now that people's posts instantly disappear. if you have a "no bumping rule" people will artificially bump, e.g. get their friends to post in the thread, etc. It would be good to post some guidelines if you could as to what is "fair" -- e.g. maybe once every day or couple of days, etc.? Thanks.
  22. thanks, this is much better than the other two I have. It would be even better if the lead singer weren't singing way out of tune.
  23. This doesn't help you, but this is a texas label and I have two other records on the label -- united voice players and time review. both are weak late 70s sweet soul. is that track any good?
  24. the other thing that might work is citrus de-gummer. it soaks in and dissolves the adhesive. it looks like it also stains the real label underneath, but it evaporates after a few days. i used this to remove stickers from labels before.
  25. the tru-ba-dor group is a female duo out of detroit, no connection to the ebony sounds group
