  1. you have not heard the rudy ray moore version then ...
  2. sounds like garage to me. not really related to anything but i was just at some restaurant on the north side of chicago and this keith richards-looking guy was eating next to me. i heard him talking about recording at chess to the guy he was eating with. i went and talked to him and he was a member of the dirty wurds
  3. thanks for letting me know that I didn't miss out on a black group, the guy said "black" 9 billion times in the auction which was a bad sign, I had like a $600 bid thinking I would be getting two good group records when in reality it was just one. is the ballad side any good?
  4. i have not heard of it. is it Black sounding or more of a White garage group?
  5. stagger lee is also an important african-american folk story that appears in song
  6. i have had similar mixups with him at least twice but he did resolve both of them
  7. at the end they gave a quarter to every street performer in the video
  8. dave brown gave me the lineup of this (philly) group once, colly williams sings lead if I remember correctly
  9. is the commotions the same recording as released? that makes a big difference in acetate values. the b-side is not released as far as I know -- what type of track is it?
  10. I played it off 45. A scan of my 45 is on dante's website. I generally only play 45s on my show (not because I believe original vinyl is the only way to listen to music but rather because I'm an obsessive loser). However, on this particular show I actually played a bunch of the revival stuff off cd. My friend's record label numero group recently put out an excellent comp of the label.
  11. Thanks so much for listening, I appreciate it. I will try to work in some more 'uh's and 'ummms' on top of the okays for you! I will ask if someone can take paypal somehow. At least you could get a cool shirt from a chicago radio station out of it. I will get back to you. I'm doing my annual 'best-of' show in a couple of weeks after the pledge drive is over. I will also try to start putting up older shows since I'm doing so many interviews and fewer music shows now. Thanks again.
  12. I posted a link to the mill evans acetate of just like the weather a couple of weeks ago
  13. thanks, are you saying that the donnie scales 45 is a known record? I didn't know anyone knew it. Thanks.

  16. you should post on soulfuldetroit, you'll get first-hand answers right away
  17. yeah, i think part of the reason it doesn't come up for sale is that it's a rock group and there's a separation between people buying selling rock and soul
  18. I have a copy of the 21st generations - Hey James / I need love on Tri-City, record is VG+ due to some light surface scuffs. High-res scan attached. Labels have some slight soiling as in scan. $150. This is an awesome record and is now hard to get, no offers as I think this is a fair price (although I am open to trades of group soul, northern or sweet, and have other stuff to trade if you have something I need). Pm to reserve. Paypal only, $6 shipping to the UK, $3 to US.

  24. there are 4 cookie scott releases on orr (one title was released with 2 numbers, one of which was orange). The green / blue color is the correct color for "I don't care".
