I have the grooms 45, I don't really like it. I bought it when a tiny bit of stock came out like 6-7 years ago, nobody really cared back then, now people are into it because it's super rare as a record in the field.
john, the emkay record you mention came also out as the numbers on rolashed. are you saying the emkay 45 was first? The numbers 45 came out in '77.
anyways, the group recorded under the names Act III, Gents and the Lady, The Shadows, Numbers, and Donnie Fonnie and Lavorn.
yeah i really like that burning flame, i just got that, never heard of it before. i have no idea who originally did "i can't see me without you", it was written by JR Bailey and I would assume a pop hit (Bailey didn't record himself it until '74). It's on a main ingredient LP from '72 and Bailey wrote some other songs on the LP but Ralfi Pagan did it in '71 and I assume the Pagan version was a cover, like most of his songs. What is the original version?
here is the main ingredient version:

the bbc video was funny too, talking about how if you're upset you missed it you still have two more days to go. it's all about being there in the first hour...

this is the same memphis group as act iii on harley who recorded 7 records under different names. This 45 came with a title sleeve. This is the only record on 'Banacek', one of the members told my friend it was Joe Banashak (who owned minit and instant) but I'm not sure since the name is spelled differently.
also i just looked at my shelf and saw that i had the earlier bandera design on promo and stock. i don't know if i've seen a promo of the later darker blue design. even if there is one, i'm still guessing it was pressed after "how can I tell my mom and dad" was a hit.
they tried to do this a while ago but they got too much backlash so they changed it back. but then too many sellers worked around it by doing what trog states. it happens a lot more in the electronics, like stuff listed for a penny with high shipping.
weird record with ohio / florida connections via billy wells. one of the hardest debroussard titles. the a-side "walking on a cloud" was issued with a different flip under the group name "guantanamera" on another label with a florida address but with billy wells connections.
whoa, i actually always assumed he was really masculine for some reason, I mainly know "in my tenement". He's also singing about being a "poor boy" and talking about his girl. I don't think he's a true cross dresser, just very effeminate, e.g., not trying to pass as a woman. Reminds me of tony washington of the dynamic superiors. either way, really interesting.
not a boot but also notice the writing credits are different. ernie hines was a writer on the song (as he told me), the dark blue press leaves him off.
i'm not sure if manship is correct on the dark blue being the first press as the light blue has the earlier bandera logo and the dark blue has a later looking chicago font. the deadwax might reveal more info though. they might have left ernie off later rather than earlier.
it's not divine from hairspray, i got a photo of elsie dickson, it's an old dude, divine would have been early 20s.
re: the all platinum comedy record, I actually have that because i have a Black comedy LP collection (also have lots of rudy ray moore related transvestite things) but it's not the same thing (this is someone trying to do a real song, not trying to act nasty) and I don't collect all platinum LPs. Thanks for the link though, it is a weird record.
Cody Black - Stranger than a fairy tale / Come to me (girl) - Pamela 7454 / 7453 - $150
reselling this as first buyer flaked. very rare, cody black's first record before he even recorded in detroit, killer northern / harmony record too. Cheap price because of condition, this always turns up trashed and this is a good player copy.
here are partial 256kbs stereo unaltered clips of each side:

Visual vinyl grade: G. Gloss left but totally scuffed up. No problem with visible scratches or marks or anything, although obviously scuffs could be hiding things.
