  1. maybe andy meant the melvin lewis? I have seen at least one other megatone record on ebay, I don't remember if it was melvin lewis or something else
  2. other side "miracle of life" is a very well known sweet soul record. 150 pounds seems high though
  3. i can't believe the chapter one issue copy is still there at that price, it never turns up and is always on all the sweet soul collectors want lists. "have it your way (let me down easy)" took me forever to get.
  4. it's been on ebay a few times, i think it went sort of cheap (not crazy cheap) at least once. aren't there 3 robert tanner 45s on megatone? i think andy dyson told me once? I think i've only seen these two though.
  5. the soundville trips have always been said to been the same lineup as the exits, and it's clearly jimmy conwell singing lead on the soundville trips, I'm just saying that I think something funny must have happened where the soundville trips were supposed to have been the frankie karl group and it either ended up being the exits or that jimmy conwell ended up singing lead, I don't think the exits ever officially called themselves the trips as there was already another LA "trips" out there (although it's strange as their record got released as with two "p"s). The exits already had a hit as the exits, why would they change their name? Maybe someone should ask jimmy the story.
  6. the one on gemm wasn't actually mint by the wasy
  7. i got the copy that was on gemm (but for less than $500). i think the record is just okay in my opinion (but obviously way better than the forte release). not for sale though. the gemm one was also a promo and not a stock copy like the one dave posted...
  8. the tripps on victoria are frankie karl and the dreams, it's their first record. i'm pretty sure they have some connection to the soulville group but something strange happened (don't know the story now as frankie karl died last year) and jimmy conwell ended up singing lead or something like that. but it said on frankie karl's myspace page, etc. that the tripps were the exact same group as the dreams.
  9. once i got the temptashuns on lemco in a pic sleeve as a stiffener, not great but sort of cool
  10. it was licensed to musicor with a different flip "some girls want me for their lover", rarer than the steeltown record actually and even rarer with the lyrics insert
  11. very hard with the lyrics insert actually, i don't have one with the lyrics insert
  12. photo of the group is here: https://www.indiana45s.com/indiana45s_detail.php?recordID=581&group=Ripples%20and%20Waves%20plus%20Michael
  13. the ripples and waves were another kiddie group from indiana. their lead singer was not named michael but apparently did sound exactly like him. there were two separate stories, one was that gordon keith just stuck 'featuring michael' on the record to imply some sort of jackson five connection. someone from another gary group told me this and i thought gordon confirmed this story when i hung with him a couple of times. however, the other possible story is what you said, that michael sings on the record. that version of the story is actually corroborated by this, written by one of the members of the ripples and the waves: https://www.mp3.com/artist/michael-jackson/reviews/?review_id=485462&flag=3 this story says that michael's voice was put onto the record. I don't know if it's true, however, just saying that the voice sounds like michael isn't enough because a billion kiddie records sound like michael. the backing group is 100% not the j5 though.
  14. Hi. Yesterday on my radio show I did a music show, starting off with a tribute to the early recordings of Michael Jackson. Playlist follows. 15. i've actually also never seen it on this white label west coast looking styrene atlantic press that was pictured in this cd compilation of steeltown stuff i was looking at this weekend either. weird how many presses there were of that record. can you post your scan of the green though? is it styrene or vinyl?
  16. big boy was never released on a green steeltown label as far as I know, was it?
  17. the acetate was sold as an unreleased track by the jackson five, even though it was not the jackson five, it was the magical connection who are exactly the same group as the next movement. it's in popsike. the a-side of the acetate "girl why you want to take my heart" was released on solar sun records as by the magical connection. They talk about what the unreleased b-side "jackson man" is about (it has nothing to do with michael jackson) in my interview with them.
  18. not even the first pre-atlantic press
  19. the ripples and waves are not the jackson five
  20. like half of all kiddie records ever released after the jackson five came out sound like michael jackson
  21. Michael Washington on Capcity is 100% *NOT* Michael Jackson
  22. i've also seen both promos and stock of the mercury, i think stock more frequently
  23. carl, i think i got my mercury press from kip brown actually
  24. a) I don't think it was booted if you're talking about that one that just went cheap on ebay, it was real, it just went cheap on ebay
