i don't think it's a cover of a specific song, it's a vague reference to the notations "i'm still here" and maybe the "long long time" is a reference to various songs like sam cooke, etc. someone please correct me if they come up with a specfic song with those lyrics but i don't think there is a soul song with those specific lyrics "it's been a long long time but i'm still here"

Are Records Sold On This Site More Expensive Than Average?
boba replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
most sellers are not trying to get their money back, it's a pyramid scheme where they're trying to sell for more than they bought. but the people who already paid a lot are selling for even more extreme amounts. very few people are willing to take a loss or even sell for what they bought for. i'm not going to quote specific people but i all the time see certain people selling records that they bought on ebay for what I consider a fair price trying to sell up for much more. I'm not talking about when you buy to resell (fair game if you are buying for what you consider a low price and are marking it up for a profit), I'm talking about people who already bid high, got a record to DJ with or collect, held onto it for a while, then are selling up to buy more records, or even bought records on here and are then trying to resell for more. the values just get higher and higher, it's like a ponzi scheme. -
"rod shard" is now a keyword in the article and at chicagoreader.com
-
if those people are all there at 5 am even, i'm not getting there at 5am
-
it's the cover story of the local chicago alternative paper, but is online here: https://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/the-jackson-find/Content?oid=1191672 rod gets quoted on page 6 of the online version

thanks, can you post a link to your site?

WFMU was around for a while and I was always under the impression that it was a hipster LP indie rock type fair but I guess more recently more 45-oriented people have been buying and selling there. it is still a mainly LP oriented show from what I understand. Allentown is all 45s.

Black Lightning Mca 40219 Trouble/ Without You
boba replied to Chris Anderton's topic in Look At Your Box
we need a new black lightning subforum on soul source i interviewed the producer (ray buckner, who is buck on playboy) but he didn't remember much about the group. -
thanks so much for checking, I wonder if the soulfulkindamusic info flip was deduced from the italian issue or if someone actually had a US issue. You'd think they exist though, issues do pretty much exist for pretty much all the dakar records (even though some are very hard to find), though, right?
-
because I've never seen it and I've been collecting BOS records for a while and another title with a different flip exists on the same number and I don't know about any other duplicate flips existing on the same galaxy number and I know about every other brothers of soul record. There are many many discographical mistakes in the collecting world and I think this is one of them. Do you have evidence that it does exist? I would really appreciate seeing it. If it does exist, or even if was scheduled and not released, I would love to hear the track, I'm a big brothers of soul fan. Thanks.
-
thanks, please let me know if you have either US 45 with a flipside. Thanks a lot.
-
thanks, I have fever, fever, fever, it also came on the green / gold galaxy label I think. I was wondering about the other track, I don't think it exists.
-
I have this on two pressings, one where they spell their own label name wrong (it's spelled Daren). On at least two other releases on the label, the artist name is spelled wrong on all the records that were pressed.
-
not the common one but this other listing: 008 - The Danleers - I'm Sorry / This Thing Called Love some guy used to run an ad in discoveries every month asking if this existed or not, I've never seen it. he did list some other stuff in his ad that I did have but never bothered to email him about though...
-
Thanks for the clarifications. So has anyone seen either of the US records with flips? I have the more common one as a promo. Thanks.
-
Anyone know the flip to this one: 4543 - Bobbie Knight and Universal Lady - Power Greater Than Man / ? - 1975 also, soulfulkindamusic lists this title which I have never ever seen listed anywhere else: 4548 - Bobby Knight and Universal Lady - Somebody Touch Me (In The Right Place) / A Woman will Make You Love - 1975 Someone recently emailed me and said they had it on an italian issue, can anyone confirm its existence on a US issue and whether it exists? Also, I'm quoting the soulfulkindamusic listings above, but aren't they both "boobie knight" on both, not "bobbie knight" or "bobby knight"? Thanks for any help.

Soul harmony singles and soulfulkindamusic.net lists galaxy 767 with two flips, I think one of them is a mistake, I would like confirmation of the existence of this record, can anyone confirm that this exists: Galaxy 767 - We gonna do our thing / Come to me What is "come to me", if it exists, does anyone have a sound clip? Did any other galaxy records get released with two flips on the same number? I think it's a mistake. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi. Today on my radio show I interviewed the lead singer and producer of a South Side Chicago group called the Stimulators. The Stimulators were from the South East side, around 75th Street between King Drive and Cottage Grove. The members of the group began singing together while they were working together in the mid-to-late 60s in high school as dishwashers at the same restaurant downtown. The group had a throwback doowop sound featuring a prominent bass in their harmony at a time when the style was becoming less fashionable. Around 1969, producer Art Williams (who originally was from Joliet but was living in the same area as the group) discovered the group singing in his neighborhood. Art was an aspiring songwriter and took a melody / harmony that the group already had and wrote the song "Warm summer nights". Art pulled together a band, rehearsed the song in his kitchen, booked studio time, and recorded the group. After shopping the song around to a couple of labels, he ended up releasing the track on the Sound O Rama label in 1970. "Warm Summer Nights" (released with an instrumental flip) was a story about a lost love that had a great throwback harmony sound that currently appeals to soul collectors and doowop collectors. Unfortunately, the record received little radio play and the group soon disbanded. Near the end of the life of the group, Art found a backing band for the group's live shows named Len and the PAs (Public Assistance). The band was also from the same neighborhood and the lead singer for the band Len Woods had previously cut a record for Clarence Johnson on the Revue Label -- "Do it funky" / "I'm in love" (backed by the Lovelites on both sides). Art heard the band and Len's record and initially had the band back the Stimulators. After the Stimulators broke up, Art continued working with the band. Art produced 4 songs on Len and the PAs, paying for the recording of two of the songs the band wrote and two of the songs that he wrote. Art searched for a label for the release of the material and released the two tracks written by the band -- "Soul Block" / "Believe Me" -- on the Rush label around 1972. Soul Block had an excellent James Brown style funk sound while Believe me was a nice ballad. The record also did not really receive any radio play. The group disbanded after a couple more years. Art wrote one more record that was released by the C&H Community Bospel Singers on Rush records. You can check out my interview at the bottom of my interviews page at: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews.html I also did a music show. You can listen to the show at: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/shows.htm . Playlist follows. Thanks for your interest.
