  1. who did jazzman license "speed up" from?
  2. baz, i know your secret plan is to ask for a discography and have jaco post the contents of the R&B indies book a piece at a time so you don't have to buy it

I don't think it's really fair to blame the bidders for the seller's misleading listing, the label looks real enough and there are label variations, etc. that someone who hasn't been collecting for a long time might not be able to differentiate between. The buyer will know instantly when they get it in the mail and see the flip!
  4. I can't believe I'm saying this on here but I think that's low
  5. but it's up to $100 already https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260508249753
  6. ok, in response to "what's known about the cut and why roy wright on the flip", "no"
  7. 1. You are right, I misread the original post since the original post clearly says "plain yellow" and I was thinking about the muted colors in some of the records 2. I still think it's a promo, but I have to look at some of my records. It might also be a promo but not explicitly labelled as such.
  8. Hi. Today I did an all-music show. You can listen to the show at https://www.sittinginthepark.com/shows.htm . Playlist follows. I also uploaded some video related to my show on my youtube page. video of the Voices singing along to their track "Forever is a Long Long Time": video of the Voices singing along to Sunday's "Ain't got no problems" (which they sang backup on) video of the Enchanting Enchanters reunion show in East Chicago where they do "No one in this world" Also, I set up a website where people can submit and comment on old soul music performances across the internet. it's cool because it's an index of a lot of different performances that have been uploaded to sites like youtube, dailymotion, etc, check it out at: https://www.changingscene.com/Soul%20and%20Funk%20Performances anyone can sign up and submit or comment on videos. 9. Here is video of the Voices, who sang backup on Sunday Williams' "Ain't got no problems", singing along to the Sunday record and their own record, during my interview of them.
  10. that's not what the OP was referring to though, that's just the promo label, there is a colored label variation of some alvin cash records and maybe some du-ettes records with muted colors, like a bunch of colors missing
  11. did you see the new yorkers clip I posted?
  12. I think they might be later presses (I see this a lot on twine time, the biggest seller on the label) but they might not necessarily have been pressed at a later plant, they just might have run out of label blanks and had to do new labels. they might have been done from the same masters plates. definitely not all releases are available on that plain style, I think mainly only twine time is the one you see a lot in the plain style.
  13. There used to be a lower quality version of this on youtube with missing footage but it's gone now:
  14. this used to be on youtube but was gone, it's back now:
  15. by the way, robins also record on ala in the 70s. my friend licensed "trust your child" by patrizia and jimmy from jimmy robins himself for the kiddie soul comp on numero group (which was good that it was an independent production licensed to ala, otherwise he would have had to deal with richard pryor's estate).
  16. Jerhart was Bob Lee's publishing. As I learned on this forum (I originally thought he was from Chicago), Jimmy Robins was from LA, but Bob Lee must have republished the track under his Jerhart publishing as that was by far Bob Lee's biggest success. Bob Lee owned a ton of tiny labels -- Vick, Toi, Big 3, etc. but failed to score any big hits other than the Jimmy Robins track.
  17. that should say (al benson labels)
  18. Mica was not a bob lee label, mica was an al benson label. Bob lee started working with al benson toward the end of his label run and started putting out stuff on mica and crash (bob lee labels).
  19. this used to come up for sale once in a while but I haven't seen it for sale recently other than the copy just on ebay
  20. this is gonna be awesome!
  21. by "live" I mean lip-synced but still very cool
  22. This is early 80s, post salsoul, this is very good, love the low-budget cable access production values too
  23. well their best one is actually "when you're in trouble" / "I thought she loved me".
  24. people were hyping this up a year or two ago due to rarity but it is very very low fi. i think the sweet / deep side is better than the northern side. it's pretty rare. i paid about $200 for mine.
  25. I would think that whatever the case, vinyl copies should be worth more since the styrene is always burned out
